Re: K-dramas on DVD with ENG subs *updated 7/20/09*

Looks like there are some great deals going on @ Yes Asia at the moment!

Over the Rainbow, Stained Glass, and Lawyers are only priced @ $24.99 each

Love Letter, Hotelier, Alone in Love, Something Happened in Bali, Romance, Someday, Shoot for the Stars are priced @ $29.99 each

Behind the White Tower @ $34.99

To see what else is available at unbelievable prices, go HERE

Also, if you know any K-drama addict who is Vietnamese, might want to relay that the following dramas are only exclusively available on DVD, dubbed in Vietnamese (long tieng) for the USA and NOT thuyet minh (voice over translation by 1 person):
1. Celebrity Lover/Star's Lover (SBS)
2. Terroir (SBS)
3. Chilwu, the Mighty (KBS)
4. Hong Gil-Dong (KBS)
5. Kingdom of the Winds Vol. 1 (KBS)
6. Lure of Wife/Temptation of Wife Vol. 1 (SBS)
7. Painter in the Wind (SBS)
8. Scale of Providence (SBS)

upcoming DVD releases in the following months will include (besides the continuing volumes to Lure of Wife & Kingdom of the Winds):
a. The Accidental Couple/Just Looking aka That Fool (KBS)
b. Cain & Abel (SBS)
c. The Slingshot/Story of a Man (KBS)
d. The Iron Empress (KBS)
e. Hateful But Once Again/Again My Love (KBS)

each set is priced @ $24.95. For any 3 you buy, then cut out the required back portion of the cover and send it in along with the included form, the distributor will send you a new/different K-drama title DVD set.

This is a legit distributor, as they bought the copyrights from the particular station (KBS or SBS).

Another Borders coupon!

And to those looking to purchase the BOF DVD set from YA...guess what? They're splitting the drama into 2 VOLUMES, just like they did w/ Gourmet.

Borders 40% off all DVD & Blu-Ray boxsets, IN-STORE ONLY

Link to print coupon HERE

I went to the Borders at The Block in Orange on Tues (to take a picture w/ a YAE title for their scavenger hunt) and they only had like 4 K-drama boxsets in the glass case. Even the Garden Grove Costco had more than they did.

also Rightstuff seems to have extended the offer for The Grand Chef/Gourmet Vol. 1 & 2 till Aug 23!

I went to the Cerritos Borders and they had NO dvd's at all. They quit selling dvd's. They also told me most of the Borders will discontinue dvd sales but that they will continue to sell online. However, she did say some of the Borders will continue.

I went to Borders in La Mirada (think that's the town... unless it was La Habra)... anyway, they had dvd's but no Kdramas. They also looked like they were remodeling and they have a new section that will have Blue Ray dvd's.

I don't mind ordering online from Border's with coupons but then you still have to pay shipping/handling.

And what sucks about Borders as well as B&N is that we are charged for sales tax because we reside in CA. That's why most of the time I end up ordering my books and American TV boxsets from Amazon because I would get the membership price of B&N + no tax, and if I order enough, free s&h.

It's a good thing the majority of the recent YAE releases have not interested me enough to pull out my wallet.

What's B&N? And when you order from Amazon, do you just go to their DVD section? I've never ordered from Amazon because I once ordered from eBay and what I got was horrible...

Thanks!

B&N = Barnes and Noble. I've only ordered American TV DVD sets from Amazon i.e. Life (starring Brit actor Damien Lewis) Season 1, never the K-dramas/import DVDs because they are extremely pricey, except for the one time when I ordered the mini-series Tanamera: Lion of Singapore from Amazon.co.uk's Marketplace because it was the only place I could get this Brit/Australian drama. Both items was shipped in new/unopened condition.

Planning on buying the 2nd season of Life, as well as Fringe (both American TV series) when I have the money. Most of the time at Amazon you're paying as if you had a 30-50% coupon if you had shopped at Borders or Barnes and Noble.

For K-drama DVD sets, I would usually visit DVDAsian, Aladdinus.com, Righstuf.com, HKFlix.com...and only Yes Asia when there's a really good steal/deal. I will only purchase YAE or Korea distributed K-dramas, never the DVD sets where I can see any type of Chinese on it.
