Re: K-dramas on DVD with ENG subs *updated 10/06/09*
Question : which version of dvds has the best English subtitles? (beisdes the ones that are region 1)
I know there are a few versions : Korean, Taiwanese, Japanese, Malaysian.
I tend to veer towards Korean but I find the subtitles not really well converted. And I have no inclination to listen to dubbings that do not really capture the essence of the chars.

Heh, I saw a brief part of the Malaysian version. In one scene for PotW, Kim Hong-do asked for a rope to climb into the well. The subtitles came out as "Bring me a bucket." o.O Oh well. I guess I'll just stick to the Korean versions. Thanks for your reply, Creidesca.

Ok, I see a sticky at the top and when I click pages come up where Creidesca has provided names of available dramas. What if I just want to 'browse' whatever Yes Asia has? How can I ensure credit goes to this board if I want to purchase something that is not listed on this board?nsheldon, it's not necessary for you to purchase an item that is listed on the board. The links are there because it is just easier to click on it (as it is connected to my associate's code). The link will lead to the item named on Yes Asia. Once you are on any page of Yes Asia by clicking on the link, you can search for whatever you wish to purchase. From whatever you eventually order, I as an associate will receive a commission rate % of the total from Yes Asia.
Should you be interested in knowing what the %'s are:
5% for DVDs, VCD, Blu-Ray
10% for YA Entertainment DVD Box Sets
2% for Game consoles and Electronics
2% for Toys and Books
2% Handheld Consoles (NDS, PSP)
7% for TVB Productions
4% for Video Games
CDs and collectibles has a tiered structure:
0 - 14 sales: 6%
15 - 30 sales: 7%
31+ sales: 8%
The "hard" way is by adding the following before the link to the Yes Asia page you want to go to: "http://track.webgains.com/click.html?wgcampaignid=32622&wgprogramid=1120&wgtarget="
ie. http://track.webgains.com/click.html?wgcampaignid=32622&wgprogramid=1120&wgtarget=http://www.yesasia.com/us/boys-over-flowers-vol-1-of-2-dvd-photobook-english-subtitled-kbs-tv/1021402849-0-0-0-en/info.html

Last resort. I just tried Soompi but I seemed to be going in circles/stuck because I cannot post even though I'm registered and some forum threads just plain refuse to open. In any case, I'm looking for the Eng lyrics to the 4 vocal songs in Painter of the Wind. I got bits and pieces from the dvd subs and I doubt some were correct because the meanings doesn't gel. Can anyone help?
