Anyeong Hasaeyo! Good Sunday morning BDF emoticon

Jasy: My feelings and sentiments are similar to yours on this episode 5. If the marriage between Sunchun and Myungja happened after a few years from the death of the wife and Sunchun did not acknowledge Sunjae as his son, Minchul would have received the stepmother and stepbrother in a much welcoming way. He wanted a happy family relationship too, just like Yonsoo. But he never experienced it before even when his mother was alive. He could have been a good brother to Sunjae and both of them will probably spoil the younger sister, Minji. I could imagine a lot of scenarios that would make this drama a "Memories of Beautiful Days", literally, but then, we wouldn't be discussing it. emoticon

BTW, do you all think that the actress doing Narae is Caucasian, and not Korean? She has the physical features but she speaks perfect Hanggul.

LBH and Song Seung Heon are best frieds. They have a k-drama together called "Happy Together". Although I love these two guys, I didn't like them in this drama. LBH played a "loser" and SSH's acting is not very powerful. The leading lady was Kim Haneul who I didn't really like because this actress doesn't emote, her face always blank, and she's has no chemistry with LBH or SSH. I bought the dvd because of SSH and LBH but I have regretted it. NOw, it's gathering dust in my cabinet. Any of you interested in borrowing it? E-mail me.

Hello BD FamilyImage

Just to let you know that I wrote out, what could've been, my longest post ever and with the click of the wrong key it was all gone. emoticon Its 2:00AM here now and I can't do it again. I don't want to, nor can I, repeat the bad, bad words I said. Its good I live alone, because if anyone heard me I'd have ruined my grandmother image for all time. emoticon And if they knew it was all because I lost a post about Kdrama, I'd be on my way to a nursing home. emoticon

Anyway, maybe this will get me through the night, what's left of it. emoticon

Click your little hearts out.

I feel a little better. emoticon How do you feel? emoticon

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)

Good Morning BD,

Awww, that's too bad smoochie but you know that saying, some words are better left unspoken. LOL We probably know what you were going to say anyway.

That happened to be once and it was with a really long post. I just couldn't do it all over again either because I couldn't remember all the things I'd just written. With me, it's all or nothing. LOL

Emceema, I watched Happy Together and feel like you do about it. I didn't like watching LBH in this type of role and throughout the whole drama I was wondering when he was going to get a job. Smoochie told me it's because I always want him to be the hero. LOL

I watched Kim Hanuel in two, maybe three dramas already and I don't care for her at all for the same reasons you mentioned emceema and also for I guess you'd called a frivolous reason, her wardrobe.

What in the world is the reason the writers dress her up in the most hideous, dowdy, unbecoming clothes that have nothing to do with the stories. She wears these ugly looking long skirts with white sneakers and it fazed me that two guys would even be fighting over her. In real life that wouldn't happen, not with the way she dressed.
She dressed like this in another drama I watched too but don't remember the name of it. For me, visual effects plays a big part in enjoying a drama too.

I never thought about Narae not looking Korean but maybe it has to do with her light hair? I just watched her in Phoenix and her hair is black as night and it looks like a dye job to me, some how the shade doesn't look natural. It's probably because I've always seen her with light hair. So I don't know.

The person I've always thought doesn't look Korean at all is Ko Soo, but he is, I checked.

Smoochie, I clicked my little heart out. All is good!

Anyeong Hasaeyo! Good morning BDF emoticon

Jasy: Are we twins in the past life? Why do we think and feel the same way watching these k-dramas? Yes, I agree with you about the wardrobe of Kim Haneul. I just finished watching "On Air" where she is a famous actress admired by a lot of people but her clothes were UGLY and frilly and she's supposed to be an actress with no talents but "beauty".

Smoochie: Wow! That picture is a sure "wake-up and get moving" sight for me early in the morning. I'll print it out and store it in "My Koreans" album beside SSH, JHJ, GJW, PYH, KS, and many more.

 emoticon

Are we ready for episode 6? I'm dying to go where there is that kissing scene. But I'm not going to post the dialogue "verbatim". It's too hard. I'm not good in summarizing because I'm opinionated so you guys start it and I'll follow.

See you later emoticon

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)

Good Morning BD Family emoticon

Well, I'm one of those people who never give up, so here I am again. emoticon What I have to say is probably old already, but I want to say it anyway. emoticon I'm determind to make my point.

I don't want to minimize Min Chul's kindness, but I think its more cultural and yes out of duty, when he drives Myungja home. When he tells her she works hard and to stop doing the memorial service for his mother, he was kind as well. He may be as turned off as Min Ji is about her doing it, but its not his style to overturn tables and have a tantrum. its just not his way. He's never harsh with her. Basically, like I've said before, they live in that house like strangers living in a boarding house. Never, "How was your day?" or "Have you had dinner?". Each of them come home, announce they're home, and hit the stairs. The most I've seen any of them gathered in the same room was when Yon Soo was introduced as Min Ji's tutor and even then Min Ji wasn't there.

I don't think Min Chul saw Sun Jae crying, but I think he's disgusted by his being so drunk he couldn't stand up. He himself is very controlled and seeing Sun Jae's behavior repulsed him. Add to that his falling into Yon Soo's arms and he's totally appalled. Min chul does feel some responsibility for Yon Soo and it wasn't his plan to have her tend to his drunken kid brother.

When he sternly tells him to get up twice and tells Yon Soo to follow him, he is taking the role of father or older brother. He turns his back on him and walks away, Yon Soo following him. Sun Jae does get on his feet, to confront his brother. Asking about HIS mother's memorial service, should he die before Min Chul. Min Chul sounded harsh right here in his answer and Yon Soo was a little taken aback by it, but only because she hasn't heard the full story. At least that's what I think.

I found it interesting that Sun Jae told Yon Soo that he and his siblings have different mothers. He wasn't quite honest when he said his mother's hated for still being alive. If he wanted to open that can of worms he should have told it all. What he said didn't really give a clear picture of the truth of why she's hated. emoticon It may have been a lot clearer on why Min Chul reacted the way he did to Sun Jae's question.

It occurs to me that the memorial service actually happened. When Myungja was getting into Min Chul's car she told him that everything was prepared for the service. If I remember correctly, everything was flung around the room and Sun Jae wouldn't let her pick it up. He took her out of the house. Did I miss something?

Jasy, I think that when a father remarries, his children call his new wife "mother". She is to be treated with the same respect as their bio mother. Myungja will never get that. Calling her "mother" is as good as she can hope for. I think you're right. I never heard Min Ji call her mother or anything, for that matter. That's what I know from watching many Kdramas, but I could be wrong. Anybody??? emoticon

Click on these for a good feeling.

 Image

You gotta love this guy's style!! emoticon

Image

I'm at work so I left a lot out. The last thing I saw in episode 5 was Yon Soo entering Sun Jae's room to make sure he's okay. We can move on whenever you're all ready. I'm with all of you.

Emceema, its not necessary to give a recap verbatim. We're all watching this on disc and can always go back to it if necessary. I really appreciate your doing it at all. emoticon

I have to go now. But, you know I'll be back. emoticon

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)

Hello BD Family

We were talking about this drama not having an evil MIL to hate. No problem, because we have plenty of others to despise in this one.

Let me give you my list.

First is the despicable Sunchun. This man is a repulsive, horrible, ugly beast. He's a murderer and a liar. The one thing that overshadows that for me is the vulgar, obscene, coarse way he speaks to his young daughter. He'll never redeem himself to me, for that alone.

His sidekick, whom emceema named, DLAss, is no better, except, thankfully he's not their father.
Image

Next on my list is Sena. She's a selfish, mean-spirited, ungrateful, terrible girl. She's reprehensible to me. And why does she think its Yoo Son's burden to take care of her? She's self-absorbed and couldn't give a rat's a$$ about anyone else, unless of course, it could benefit her in some way. I don't think I ever like her. No, I know I never like her.

Image

I findMyungja repugnant . Maybe because she's a woman and I always expect more from women. We're the mothers. This woman is Sunchun's accomplice in ruining the lives of three children. She's a doormat because she deserves to be, as far as I'm concerned. She didn't ruin Min Chul and Min Ji's lives when she moved into their home, as soon as their mother took her last breath. She ruined their lives ten years before that. So this adulterer, who walks around looking hurt, pathetic and innocent, has been a factor in their lives at this point, for twenty five years. Do the math. From the day Sun Jae was born till today. While their mother was alive and they were very little she was stealing their father's time and attention from them. Wait a minute!! How old is Min Ji?? She was his mistress before Min Ji was even born. Isn't Sun Jae older than she is?? This woman had no shame!! YUK!!!

Image

Last but not least, is Sun Jae. I know he's a victim of his mother's and Sunchun's actions and I'd like to sympathize with him for that, but I can't. He's a whiny, morose, gloomy, self-pitying pain in the butt. He feels so sorry for himself that there's no room for me to feel bad for him. Why? Because his siblings don't want to have anything to do with him!! WAAHHH!!! Moreover, I think he's deceitful and duplicitous in everything he does, from lying to his father and still doing his music, to his letting Sena believe that they're having a relationship, while on the verge of pursuing Yon Soo. He's dishonest in all of his dealings with everyone around him. The one spark of candor and honesty was when he told his mother what she did was wrong. And he had to get drunk for that. He keeps trying to defend her, but at the same time he knows there's no defense. She gave up her honor a long time ago.

Well, that's my list. The order of the list may change, from time to time, but not the content. emoticon

Obviously, we don't need an evil MIL, we have plenty of evil to go around in this family. emoticon

I like this guy. emoticon I really like him a lot. emoticon I mean, I really, really like him. emoticon

Image

Do you like him?? emoticon Okay, breathe in, breathe out, breathe in......... emoticon

I wanted to post another picture, but I'm going to close now. If I lost this post I'd be saying those words again. emoticon

I'll be back. emoticon

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)

Good Morning BD,

You are absolutely right on with your list smoochie and you described everyone to such perfection, their ears should be ringing just about now.

Isn't that interesting that though it was right in front of my face the whole time I never gave it any thought, Sunjae IS older than Minji so Sunchun was messing around with Myungja and fathered him before he fathered Minji. He must have been pretending all was good on the homefront to his wife.

Sunjae, well I have a big problem liking him in this drama and I begin not to really like him now. I didn't want to get ahead of the story and talk about it before but I guess it doesn't really matter.

Yes, he leads Sena on letting her go on thinking he likes her at the same time he's got his eye on Yonsoo. That's a cruel thing to do to someone.

Yonsoo is the woman Minchul brought into the house to tutor their sister. That's the only reason she's there. Period.
She is not there to fill Sunjae's spare minutes, to be beckened into his bedoom for whatever reason or to wait for her on the balcony or play games with her in the kitchen eating with her intimately on the floor, wanting to feed her.

I don't look at it as innocent or just wanting to be friends. Sunjae looks at her like a woman, not a tutor. One brother brings a girl home and Sunjae thinks he has a right to go for it? And he IS going for it.

Why doesn't he wonder if Minchul might have more than a working relationship planned for her or something going on with her right now? He doesn't really know. He must notice how Minchul is protective of her.

Yonsoo decides to buy a gift for Sena and leaves work quickly. Sunjae who doesn't seem to ever bother going to Victory Records much has gone there this day to see her.
When Yonsoo leaves, he follows her all the way to the department store. He's way out of line though it looks innocent enough. This is where I begin to not like him anymore. He will become a thorn up her side and mine.

Did you all check out that scene early on in episode 6 where Yonsoo is working and Minchul walks in with his croanies and he spots her? He walks over to where Yonsoo is, the two business men who were standing near her walk away because the director walked over. Minchul is acting very strange, like something is on his mind as he looks around.

Then Minchul walks to where Narae is and she has been watching this whole little senario and Minchul casually glances at the CDs and immediately walks back to where Yonsoo is.
He glances again at the CDs and as he leaves and passes her, he squeezes her shoulder hard never looking at her and makes his exit. LOL LOL
Yonsoo is bewildered and Narae was watching. Too bad Sunjae wasn't watching.

I'll leave you with that scene in your minds. Is he good at what he does or what??

I'm so sorry. I'm sooooo behind!! But I find myself really not caring about any of these characters. (again I'm sorry)... Mi-chul just doesn't do it for me. He may have been disgusted by Sunjae being drunk but he is so ready to show sympathy and love when it's his sister that is drunk. He has compassion and understanding WHY she is the way she is.

Where is that compassion and understanding for Sunjae. I mean, it's not like Sunjae had a happy home life either! He was only a child when he was brought there and he had no say about anything. Then he had to watch his 'siblings' treat him and his mother like crap. He was just as hurt as they were over their circumstances...

I hope I'm not gonna be kicked out of the playground now.. LOL (I can feel the darts heading right for me)....
