Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Hello BD Family
I watched all of six and a lot happened, but I want to talk about just the beginning. I can't say everything in one post, though I sometimes try.
First at the hospital, Min Chul recognizes Sun Jae coming down the corridor while he's waiting for Zero to show up. I think right here he jumped the gun. He had him and let him slip away. Sun Jae's excuse for being there, he wanted to borrow a book from a friend. He told his mother he was going to visit a sick friend. Min Chul is suspicious and ask Sun Jae does he have something to say to him and he says, no. He'll see him at home. Min Chul remembers him playing the piano. He knows, but can't confirm it in his mind. At 2:30AM Min Chul finally gave up and left the hospital.
He goes home and goes to Sun Jae's room, looking around. I don't think he knows what he's looking for. Sun Jae comes in and wonders what he's doing there. The two have a very pertinent conversation here. Min Chul asks him, doesn't he play the piano anymore and didn't he used to compose music too? Sun Jae answers that father doesn't like him doing that. Min Chul says, right, he'd never do anything father disapproves of, sort of making fun of him. That's why he treasures him so.
Sun Jae tells him that the one father treasures is him. He's kind to Sun Jae, but when it comes down to it, Min Chul is the one he puts first. He reminds him of a fishing trip where they both fell into the water. Min Chul's name was the name their father called. Min Chul reminds him that he was the one their father got out of the water first. Sun Jae tells him it was because Min Chul knew how to swim and he didn't. Sun Jae tells him that he was the one that wanted to study music and Min Chul was the one sent abroad to study to take over the family business. Though he doesn't show it, Min Chul's the one he trusts and cares for. Min Chul tells him he doesn't care who his father trusts and cares for. It may be important to Sun Jae, but not to him. I think Min Chul always knew that what Sun Jae says is true. Like I said, blood is blood.
I know that neither of these guys know that they're not related biologically. Min Chul's problem with Sun Jae has nothing to do with any rivalry over his father's affection. He doesn't believe his father has any real affection for anyone. But, he isn't insecure about his place in the family, or in his father's trust in him. He works hand in hand with him and the respect he has for Min Chul and his expertise is obvious. Min Chul's problem is that Sun Jae lives as proof of his father's infidelity while his mother was alive.
So much more happened in this episode, but I'm at work and I'll have to continue later. I have an awful lot to say about this episode.
Nsheldon, didn't you know how Titanic was going to end? There are a lot of things we already know, but its the ride that counts. If you watch this, you'll like it. There's more to this than a love story. You don't have to, but try it you may be surprised.
I have to work now, but I have plenty to say. A lot of things are finally cleared up. I'll be back.
Later

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Good Morning BD,
Minchul and Sunjae's little chit chat about Sunchung was interesting. Ahh, who does father treasure most?
They banter back and forth throwing little incidents out at each other but Minchul could care less. For Sunjae, it weighs heavy on his mind. Sunjae may look like the favored son around the house but he doesn't feel that way at all.
Minchul suspects that Sunjae might be Zero and I didn't realize he did so early on in this drama. I guess in my other watch I paid more attention to other things.
It all makes sense now and that's why Minchul asks him about his playing the piano and composing music.
I don't think Sunjae put two and two together this night and if he gave it a second thought instead of comparing dad's favoritism he would have realized Minchul might be onto something.
First Minchul races out of the house at that precise moment and shows up at the hospital, then he's in Sunjae's room next which is unusal in itself looking at his computer with no explanation. He has his own computer. To top it all off, Minchul asks him about his music.
I'll bet this conversation is the most in depth and soul searching that Sunjae has had with his brother in a very long time, if any at all. But in a sense, nothing is accomplished anyway, just some feelings put out there. But I think it was a good thing for Sunjae.
I get it that Minchul is not the least bit interested in these feelings about father. By now, Minchul is his own man, doing his own thing. Sunchun, to a certain extent cannot tell Minchul what to do with his private life, we know that. But Sunchun does tell Sunjae what he can't do with his, play his music.
Does Sunjae really have to abide by his rules regarding his music at this age? Even Minchul tells him that he won't do anything father disapproves of.
In the morning, Minchul rings Yonsoo. "It's me. Let's go to work early today." I have to say she looks rather wide eyed and interested.
Next second, he's at the door, "get changed" and walks away.
In the car Minchul drives to the beach without a word being spoken by either of them. He parks the car and reaches across her fiddling with a knob on the side of her seat. His face is practically on her chest making her very, very uncomfortable.
Yonsoo has both of her hands clenched together against his chest trying to keep him a distance but she can't budge him away even an inch.
Yonsoo: Do you treat eveyone this way or just me?
Minchul: What do you mean? (as he's still struggling with the knob)
Yonsoo: You never ask my opinion. You call me out whenever, take me wherever you want. That's why I don't feel comfortable with you.
He laughs a bit as he finally accomplishes what he was trying to do, turn the knob so he can let the car top down.
Minchul: I made it.
Yonsoo is sitting straight as a board against her seat when he backs off of her. He pushes a button and the top opens up and goes into the trunk of the car. Cool car!
Minchul and Yonsoo both lean back in their seats with their heads back looking up into the sky.
Minchul: Better?
Yonsoo looks at him, doesn't answer.
Minchul: I feel at ease looking at the sky like this. You may feel uneasy with me but I feel comfortable with you. More and more so with time. But I'm more defensive around comfortable people.
Yonsoo is still looking at him, he's looking straight ahead up at the sky as he speaks.
Minchul: Making others comfortable means that he's hiding his feelings. Truly honest people don't feel comfortable.
He gets out of the car and leans against it. He turns his head in her direction as she stays in the car but is watching him.
Minchul: But I don't feel that way about you.
There will be a concert at the amusement park! All the the hopefuls including Sena are sitting around in a circle listening to the composer announce what's going to happen.
Management will video tape their performance along with the audience reaction. This will be an evaluation point. He tells them last year's recruit, the one who did the best cut an album.
Meeting is over and the composer is talking with Sena telling her she's the only one he will be giving private lessons to. She thanks him. He has a crush on Sena but regardless, she's lucky to have him in her corner.
He takes her to his apartment and Sunjae happens to be outside the door waiting for him. The composer is not too happy, he told Sunjae he invited him over days ago, not today.
I think Sunjae will spoil the composer's little one on one get together with Sena he had in mind.
Before heading into the apartment, Sena tells Sunjae that she just came to practice (and she really did) and not to take this the wrong way. Sunjae just smiles his little laugh...
Nsheldon, it's fine that you want Sunjae to get the girl. If you haven't watched this at all, there are lots and lots of scenes with Sunjae and Yonsoo. It's such an interesting story and very well done. Aren't you even a little bit curious how it will all go down?
Everyone is this drama has their own story to tell, including Sunjae and you might be surprised how it all ends. It is more than a love story.

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Anyeong Hasaeyo! Good morning BDF
Jasy: I tried to post yesterday exactly what you have posted today but when I submitted it, it says you're not logged in and I lost the whole thing. Thanks to you I don't have to do it all over again.
I love that scenario in the car, early in the morning, between Minchul and Yonsoo. When he parked the car and turned towards Yonsoo, I thought he was going to kiss or hug her. I noticed that Yonsoo didn't struggle too much and Minchul's just go about doing what he is doing without any regard to Yonsoo's comfort. The result, though, was exhilarating, both looking up at the sky and breathing fresh air. I would have been doubly grateful, first for looking at and smelling Minchul's hair and seeing the sky in that position. LOL!
Then Minchul got out and lean against his car, hands in his pocket, and poses while talking to Yonsoo. This is a Kodak moment!
Minchul already knew that Sunjae is Zero when he saw him at the hallway of the hospital. He was just baiting him to come clean and let him admit he's Zero when he went to his room that night. I think Sunjae also have a feeling that Minchul suspected him. If Sunjae just admitted that night that he was Zero and assured Minchul that he has nothing to fear, they could have made a deal, then and there, and kept the whole thing hidden from Sunchun and the other music company, Muse.
NSheldon: So you're watching Atsu-hime too? I love this J-dorama and Hana Yori Dango. As a matter of fact, I bought the dvd for Hana Yori Dango, first and second season.

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Emceema, so you think Minchul knows now that Sunjae is Zero? I suspected that he suspected him in the hospital when he asked Sunjae if he had anything to say to him.
But when Minchul went into his bedroom, I thought he was still trying to figure it all out, you know, not really sure.
I'm thinking you're right though and I never realized that the last time I watched this.
LOL, Minchul gets out of the car and "poses while talking to Yonsoo." Indeed, it is a Kodak moment, isn't it? How come he looks so good this early? It's interesting that Yonsoo is speechless, all she does is look at him. LOL
What a great start to a working morning.

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Good Morning BD Family
The scene with Min Chul and Yon Soo at the beach is so typical Min Chul. I was surprised at her speaking up finally. Not that it made any impression on him. I think he already believes she is his. He doesn't seem surprised by her saying she's not comfortable with him. He's amused, actually. This may be a defining moment for him. It may be the first time he's opened up about the way he feels about her. Its pretty personal for him, considering how closed off he usually is, just for him to say he's comfortable with her. It means that he trusts her.
All things indicate that Sena thinks she and Sun Jae are in a relationship. Though I realize that he doesn't want to hurt her feelings, there should be a time when he makes himself clear to her. He had the perfect opportunity when she told him her realtionship with Peanut was strictly business. This is where he could've told her that she was free to see anyone she wanted. I think he's so wrong regarding this. She insists he come to the amusement park to see her sing on stage for the first time and to cheer her on. As he gets on the elevator she kisses him. Another opportunity to tell her and he missed it. He still hasn't set her straight.
Min Chul takes Peanut to lunch to try to get information on Sun Jae. He's trying to find out more about his involvement in music. He gets nowhere, except to hurt Peanut's feelings.
Yon Soo is leaving work and Sun Jae is outside waiting for her. He offers her a ride home and she declines. He picks her up, bodily and puts her on his bike.
See, I have a BIG problem with this. I believe "No" means "No". In our culture this wouldn't be as improper as it is in their culture and I still wouldn't like anyone ignoring my saying no. He'd have been in big trouble had he touched me that way. To me, this guy has really stepped over the line here. Imagine Min Chul witnessing that little scene!!
This behavior is fine if the two people involved are a couple and if the one doing the lifting knows its going to be okay with the liftee, but this is not the case here. She's living under the same roof with him as Min Ji's tutor. She was brought into the home by Min Chul. He has no idea what her realionship is with Min Chul. I really find this guy's behavior much too hands on. He is inappropriate the whole day at the park. He takes her watch away, grabs her hand and basically takes over. We already know how long it takes Yon Soo to express her displeasure. She's almost as out of line as he is, by letting him do all of this.
They sit and he pulls out a lunchbox with food he's prepared. This guy had a plan since he opened his eyes that morning. He insists on feeding her and then insists on her feeding him. They're not a couple and I don't get why she's not getting stern with him at this point. I'm almost as annoyed with her as with him, because she's not drawing clear lines. He buys her a charm for her phone and puts it on for her. He's full of these cutesy things and you mean to tell me she still doesn't have a clue??
Min Chul calls her and asks where she is. She tells him she's at the amusement park, but not who she's with. Do you think she knows not to say that she's with Sun Jae? I don't know. He tells her he forgot to tell her about the show. He tells her to have fun. I doubt if he'd have been so easy if he knew Sun Jae was with her and how familiar he is with her. I don't think so.
At one point they're sitting together eating ice cream and he says he wants to ask her something. He wants to call her by her first name. Is that okay?? She says he can call her whatever makes him comfortable, how about if he calls he "Nuna"? Big sister? She is a year older than he is. He's not happy with that choice, he doesn't want to call her that. Before he can continue on, he gets a text message from Sena, so that matter isn't resolved. He's visibly annoyed. Sena has good radar. Always there to interrupt at the precise moment when he's going to go for it. They head for their seats to watch Sena's performance. She tells him to go alone and to go home with Sena. He's not so happy anymore, but he does as she tells him. I'm really not happy with Sun Jae at this point. He's much too aggressive and Yon Soo is much too permissive. That's why she's always in trouble with Min Chul without his saying a word.
So much more happened in this episode, but I'm at work and had to write this in between do actual work. I have to stop before I lose this post. I'd be very upset.
I read somewhere that in filming this Ji Woo was crying, she was so scared of the rides. So her looking sick in this scene probably was true. Poor girl.
I'll be back later to write more if I can. I'm loving this and this episode is very pertinent. It explains a lot.

Nsheldon, nobody loses their stature in the family because we don't agree on a drama. You least of all. I couldn't get along without you. You'll always be family and its not up to any one of us to decide who's family and who's not. One thing though, I can't get over you're in love with that Innocent Woman drama. I laughed out loud at ADwatcher's post a few weeks ago. My opinion exactly. Idiotic!!!

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Good Morning Everyone,
I was thinking that when Sunjae was driving Yonsoo on his motorcycle while on the highway, they cut to the scene two or three times showing Minchul in his office oblivious to it all calmly scanning the newspaper with the phone to his ear.
Was it Yonsoo he was calling getting no answer? I think it was.
But my main point here with this scene is they showed Minchul at that precise moment, the moment Sunjae took off with her.
Switching the scene back and forth to each of them tells me without a doubt that according to Minchul, Yonsoo is HIS woman. No ifs, buys or maybes. I just got this strange feeling watching Minchul in his office, like the calm before the storm.
Minchul may not have declared his love to Yonsoo yet, but he did make it clear how he felt when he was with her at the beach. That was a very serious and heavy thing for him to do, admit his feelings about her to her.
Sunjae can get away with the way he's been in Yonsoo's face lately because she's thinking of him as a younger brother or friend. Yonsoo in her so called refusals doesn't come off so serious and so she's rather quite easy for Sunjae to take charge of and lead. Sunjae wants her.
Minchul is such a stark contrast compared to Sunjae. He has all this grown up maturity and seriousness about him while Sunjae is more laid back and youngish.
At the amusement park when Sunjae asks for her cell phone, her hand just instantly goes in a pocket and pulls out the one Minchul gave her. She realizes it a second too late as Sunjae hooks a little kitty charm on it.
Minchul won't like that.
Minchul gets a call that Sim Jae-eun, the patient in the hospital wants to see him. On his visit, she tells Minchul that Zero did come to see her but it was after hours. She won't say much else so
Minchul has one question for her, Zero's description. He begins to describe Sunjae but just then Muse Records big shots come in the room and that ended it for Minchul.
He visits with Jae-eun's mother and gives her money for the operation. The mom feeling very grateful to Minchul calls him back as he's walking away and says that Zero is going to show up for the operation.
During Sena's performance on stage at the amusement park, her rival (name?) does something very dirty. She gets the other girls to walk behind the audience which causes a mini commotion causing all of the audiences attention to turn their back to Sena who is singing and doing a great job by the way, to these girl singers passing by.
Sena about collapses, actually she loses it and Sunjae and the composer are watching and very upset too.
Sena in another room with her head down on a table afterwards is beyond soothing. Later she is lugging all of her stuff home in her high heels, boy she walks funny, and she is so upset, she doesn't want Yonsoo who was watching her performance near her. She is very embarrassed.
Sunjae tells Yonsoo to take her home and with a little struggle on Sena's part, she finally gives up and just tolerates Yonsoo following her.
At home, Yonsoo makes her something warm to eat and is about to leave but first she gives Sena a pep talk and tells her she knows she will make it. The highest climb is the hardest climb and Sena is going for the top.
Sena who had her back to Yonsoo turns around and clasps her hand, sits up and leans into Her for a hug. They both cry their hearts out.
Sena lets her know she hasn't forgiven her yet though, she just needs to cry against someone.
Almost home, Yonsoo is walking and sees Sunjae waiting. They walk a bit, Yonsoo telling him that Sena let her hold her. He reminds her that he has her watch and when she puts her hand out for it, he proceeds to put it on her wrist.
At that moment, Minchul drives by and looks at this little scene but keeps driving.
Yonsoo instantly begins to run off but Sunjae tells her to stop, that Minchul puts people on edge, he does it to him at home. He does not want Minchul to put Yonsoo on edge he tells her.
At the big house, Minchul is in Minji's room looking through an art book Yonsoo gave Minji. Yonsoo comes in and Minchul tells her she's late as he continues looking through the book.
When Minji gets on the band wagon to ask her why she's late and that she should be home before her, yada, yada, Minchul instantly tells his sister to respect her teacher.
Minchul leaves the room to go into his own. Not a second goes by after he leaves the room does Yonsoo tell Minji she's going to wash up. LOL
She is definitely drawn big time to Minchul. And he to her. Yonsoo always seems to go to where he is and Minchul seems to present himself to her in innocent looking ways but I don't know if it's so innocent.
Sunjae is way off when it comes to Yonsoo. She may uncomfortable with Minchul but she just can't help herself.
And Minchul? When he went to his room, he left his door ajar just a crack. What other times did he do this? None as far as I know. LOL
He did this for Yonsoo to look in. And she does. She pushes the door more open and looks at him and there he is, his back to her taking off his jacket. He starts to take off his cufflinks and turns around and looks at her.
He knew she would be there watching him.
Yonsoo doesn't say a word and neither does he. He walks over to the door, looks at her intently, lowers his head as he closes the door with not a word said. LOL
He should win an award for this slow, slow seduction...
Now all this time Yonsoo's hand stayed on the door knob as did Minchul's.
On Minchul's side of the door, his hand is on his hip, looking down and thinking.
On Yonsoo's side of the door, her hand is still on the door knob, thinking--wow! tell me this isn't a hot scene!!! Sexual??
Whatever it is this moment, they're on the same wave length. Maybe they should just go for it!! Such tension...
Yonsoo very slowly lets go of the door knob and Minchul, a split second too late quickly opens the door but she's gone.
He closes his eyes and lowers his head...
Secret operation day - Minchul knowing that Zero will be there hurries over. He is shocked to see Sunjae bending down comforting the patient and then he sees Sunjae comforting the mom.
He is stunned but doesn't let Sunjae see him. He has met Zero!
In his car he pulls out Zero's CD and looks at it. As he pulls away, we see it broken into pieces lying in the street.
He is very, very angry.
Emceema, It looks like Minchul really didn't know for sure and only suspected that Sunjae was Zero earlier on when he was trying to look at Sunjae's computer in the bedroom.
Anyway, he knows now...

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Good Morning BD Family
Jasy, great job. What an episode, right?? A lot of things get cleared up here, but not everything. Sun Jae still has to be straightened out, but I'll leave that to Min Chul, who'll do it so much better.
When Yon Soo and Sun Jae were on his bike, her phone was ringing in her pocket, but she didn't hear it because of the noise. She thought she was supposed to be going home, but Sun Jae had other plans for her. I really don't like this about him. We know he thought this whole thing out by the fact that he brought food from home.
In watching dramas and having to comment on them, tells me a lot about myself. I realize how much I don't like someone else manipulating me or controlling me. I know that sounds simplistic and you're saying,( "Who does??), but Sun Jae would've been put in his place in 2 minutes and I wouldn't be on that bike. I think that's why these women, including Yon Soo , drive me so nuts. Its not possible that all of these women have Silly Putty mentalities and are ready to let someone mold them into whatever suits them. I also figured out that, I'm not nice and have no patience. I'm not even nearly as nice as Yon Soo.
Min Chul saying those things to Yon Soo at the beach is as close as he can allow himself to declaring his feelings about her. It was a major confession on his part. He's trying to open up to her. Its not an easy thing for him to do.
These two already have an understanding, though unspoken. The problem is, that right now they haven't gone beyond the two of them, so Sun Jae sees Yon Soo as open season. Besides Narae, nobody else is aware that anything is happening between them and she only knows so much.
Sun Jae's impulsive, spontaneous actions really annoy me. I told you, I'm not nice. The cell phone charm thing is one of the things I'm talking about. She knew immediately that she shouldn't have that silly thing hanging from Min Chul's phone, but was embarrassed and it was too late to say anything, once he put it on the phone. Again he really doesn't know her, except as Min Ji's tutor and Sena's sister. You remember Sena? The girl who openly has a crush on him? The girl who depends on him? The girl who thinks they're in a relationship? The girl who doesn't trust Yon Soo already?? That Sena. I think he needs to settle matters with Sena before he decides to seriously play cutesy with Yon Soo. He's much too familiar, much too soon. He may not know about she and Min Chul, but he does know about himself and Sena.
There was a big breakthrough between Yon Soo and Sena, because of what happened while she was on stage. What that girl did was so reprehensible and so cruddy. I have to give Sena credit for continuing as long as she could under the circumstances created by that little witch. It served as a way for Yon Soo to get closer to Sena, but it was horrible to watch. I'm not a Sena fan, but that was too mean.
When Yon Soo meets up with Sun Jae, who's always waiting, (another thing that would drive me crazy), he wants to put her watch on for her and of course, here comes Min Chul. Yon Soo knows he's not happy to see Sun Jae touching her in such a familiar way. She tenses up, because she got the message in his look. She already knows he doesn't like her being personal with Sun Jae and yet she always gets caught at it. She never initiates this, Sun Jae does, but she never stops him and always gets busted by Min Chul.
The scene at the door of his room, was Min Chul punishing her for her actions. He'd just begun to open up to her and now showed her how quickly he could close himself off again. He closes that door very quietly and firmly to express that to her. He regretted it instantly, but was a couple of seconds too late. Yon Soo was gone. It was very sexual, but everything between them is sexual. How about those looks they share. LBH is really good at that. REALLY, REALLY GOOD!!! CJW isn't too shabby either. She's so expressive, without saying a word. They're perfect together in this.
Regarding Zero, I agree that Min Chul suspected Sun Jae, but wasn't sure. It was obviously shocking to him by the look on his face when he saw Sun Jae at the hospital. He WAS angry. He's been on a wild goose chase forever looking for this guy and he's right under his nose. He must also think this kid is laughing at them at Victory, including his father.
This is a really good drama, with a very good cast and an unusual story line. Many, many layers to this one.
Nsheldon, seriously, watch this when you get the chance. You'll be surprised how really good it is, no matter who gets the girl. The drama following Innocent Woman is so much better. Here we're seeing You Stole My Heart. I don't know if its the same on your coast.
I'm at work, so I have to actually do some work.
I'll be back.
This guy is much too close for comfort.

Was it Yonsoo he was calling getting no answer? I think it was. Yes jasy!. Yonsoo's cellphone (the one given by Minchul) kept ringing in her pocket but because of the noice or the helmet she was wearing, she didn't hear it. When Minchul gave her that phone, he told her that that line is exclusive for him only. So when it rings, Yonsoo should know that it's him. Very possessive, huh? Sometimes it irritates me when, in k-drama, the male character do the "apeman" (A gorilla beating his chest and declaring he's king of the jungle) act. class blockquote Now all this time Yonsoo's hand stayed on the door knob as did Minchul's.
Hot! REALLY HOT! SIZZLING HOT!
After watching this scenario, I kept fanning myself. LOL! class blockquote Sun Jae's impulsive, spontaneous actions really annoy me. Whew! Smoochie, if Sunjae is reading this, he'll definitely run and hide from you! . For me, I would like to give him this time to be happy for a while and let him believe that Yonsoo will love him back. There's plenty of time for him to feel miserable, frustrated and totally rejected. Yonsoo is a rock. She has only Minchul in her heart but she couldn't be mean to Sunjae right now, knowing he is Minchul's younger brother.
