K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
I like him best in Beautiful Days and All In. I really enjoyed him in Everybody Has Secrets. LOL So did his co stars...
He's one of my two top favorites and I'm always interested in anythng he's done too.
He's suave and oozes confidence. He knows how to give that look, his laugh is adorable and I like his deep voice. Watching him play a part, I always think that he's one of the more mature actors out there. I don't know why, it's just something about him, the way he carries himself, that confidence.
You're right smoochie, he's not afraid to take any kind of role on and he never fails to deliver. I've seen him in a lot of things too as you know and I never get tired of watching him.
And Cho Ji Woo is my favorite actress, she has such a great career going too. I like to watch anything she's in.
Yup, LBH is the ultimate sexy bad boy. Hardly a word has to be spoken.
Imagine slowly wiping tears away through glass...oops, I'm getting ahead of myself.
I've got the tissue box ready too emceema.

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Good Morning BD,
Nsheldon, we just watched episode 1 and we wanted to begin discussion on Tuesday when you're back from your days off, so you're right in the ball park, you didn't miss a thing.
Back at the orphanage, the scenes were very touching between the two sisters I thought.
When Yoonsu gives Sena one of her two matching rings that belonged to her mother and probably her father, and when they made plans to meet again on Christmas Day at Seoul Tower at 5 pm sharp, she really touched MY heart.
A wonderful big sister.
It was time for Yoonsu to leave and find work but she promised to save money and come back for Sena. But in the meantime, they'll meet on their birthday, Christmas Day.
Another touching scene for me was watching when Yoonsu boarded the bus saying good bye to Sena. I just knew what Sena was feeling and the actress played the part to a T.
When she ran after the bus calling out to her sister and crying and then began jumping up and down in frustration on that country road, it was the saddest thing to watch.
I know that the actress who plays LBH's sister in this, Minji, (Shin Min A) also played in Bittersweet Life. Do you remember her in that smoochie? She played the mob boss' girlfriend who LBH was ordered to keep an eye on. She's really very pretty and models.
I have to say that I love LBH's acting and character in this drama.
I like the way he brings his character to life powerfully sometimes with just certain movements and actions.
He's another one who doesn't even have to say a word...LOL there are only a certain few of these kind actors around...
Some of LBH's best scenes are when he doesn't say anything, just his actions outshine any words he might have said.
Joonsu is such a gentle soul and her character stands out even more when she's opposite Min-chul because he's so bold with her and demanding, so sure of himself. At first, she often looks like she's is awe of him or maybe he's a bit frightening to her, maybe both.
Minchul is a mystery.
I feel sorry right now for Sunjae because he's so intimidated by his older brother's stern, no nonsense personality around him.
I'll be back...

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Good Morning BD Family
I re-watched parts of episode one again. One observation I have is that, no matter how sad Sena's life was, I don't like her character. Up until Yon Soo left the orphanage she was okay, but once in Seoul she's either overacting or just too intense for my taste.
I get her feeling betrayed and discarded by Yon Soo, but she's never waited for an explanation from her, before she accused her of being a "betrayer", which I'm sure translates into another word in English. She's just too over the top for me. From what I remember I never get over it.
The scenes with LBH and CJW are already great. He keeps her always, just a little off-balance and edgy. Its almost funny and we know he knows exactly what he's doing, which shows he has a sense of humor, although a little dark, still.......... Its all very sexy and yet doesn't seem its meant to be. The thing is how innocent he looks, when you know, he knows exactly what effect he has on her. You know by the look on his face as he walks away, how much he's enjoying it. I'm loving this already.
Shin Min A is playing a very good part in this. She does a really good job as the needy, attention starved girl in a very dysfunctional family. Min Chul is her savior here. He's the only one she trusts and he's always there for her. I remember her from Bittersweet Life and from Lucifer. She is beautiful and talented.
Nsheldon, I don't believe any of these kids are bad. Imagine how bad they should be living with that man. Considering what a crappy household that is they're doing amazingly well. The only one potentially in real trouble would be Min Ji and its lucky she's got her brother to keep her from really hurting herself. He's the only one to offer her any warmth or encouragement.
I have to work for a while now.
I'll be back

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Anyeong Hasaeyo! A Beautiful Day to all of you
I like the way they presented this drama. They showed most of the important events/incident in the first episode and left a few holes it it for us to guess the relevance of some scenarios and dialogues. So after the first episode, we know enough of the relationship of the Lee family and the two orphan kids and scenarios were fast-forwarded to 15 years later.
It also showed how all these characters were brought together to the present. However, there was a scene in the orphanage where Sena was being punished and she was alone in that room, cold and shivering. She lighted a piece of paper and burned some books in the trash bin. Did she burn down the whole room? How did she find that bar owner and what was their relationship? She seems to dominate him and he is very tolerant of her tantrums and temper.
Of all the characters in this drama so far, I hated most is Myungja (Jaeok in BB). She is a complete doormat. Yes, I know that she was fooled by Chung Sul into marrying him and was very grateful to him. But does she have to be so subservient to Minchul and Minji to the extent of neglecting her own child, Sunjae? On the other hand, Chung Sul is the opposite. He poured all his attention to Sunjae but we know the reason why. He has a guilty conscience. And another rationale that I could think of why he's so cold to his own children is his first marriage wasn't out of love. I think his first love was Myungja who got married to his best friend who he hated for being successful and better than him.
The love angle, or should I say tri-angle? It was established in the very beginning when Sunjae, Yonsoo and Sena were still kids that Sunjae will like Yonsoo. However, we don't know yet if Yonsoo will return the affection. Sena, at that point is already showing her ambition and temperament. You can presume that she will be the third angle in this relationship and will put a wedge between Sunjae and Yonsoo.
Then came my HERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can guess by now that I am a MINCHUL thru and thru. Not because he is LBH but this character is my kind of man (in a drama). He is arrogant, yet tender and I love his devotion to his sister. He is mysterious but you can see in his face a veiled kindness. When he looks at Yonsoo his eyes sparkles and his lips has that hint of a smile that you can just imagine. ................... OK, enough! I'm getting mushy already.

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
I'm really enjoying this drama already. I also wondered why Chung Sul seems so cold to Minchul and Minji. And what's stranger, he's really nice to Sunjae, who isn't his blood.
I can understand the resentment in the other two.
He seems to hate Minji as we'll see later on. She went off to live with her grandmother which Minchul knew nothing about because he himself was sent away for three years.
When he comes back home, Myungja is already the woman of the house.
I'm thinking Minchul and Minji began hating him when he brought her and Sunjae to live with them.
Minchul was probably already taking care of his little motherless sister Minji, but I would think she was so young then that I don't think she had any issues with her dad at that time...unless their mother's mom, grandma, told the kids that their father was messing with another woman while their mother was alive.
The way grandma stormed over there and accused the both of them sleeping together right in front of two very young kids, it makes me believe that the kids already knew the score.
Maybe this was the way of the writers letting us know that this was the very reason why the kids didn't get along with him.
And so they disliked him already maybe and when they became the right age, he got rid of the both of them for awhile.
But they both come back and just like Minchul told his sister, why make him be happy by staying away?
I don't care for the Sena character either but I see her as a little toughie who grew up in an orphanage who knew no other way to survive. (Much like Jongnam's early days, acting tough?)
But then again Yoonsu grew up right next to her. Well, Yoonsu knew her mother but maybe Sena never, ever knew hers. And sometimes people react to the same situations differently from each other.
Look how Sena won't take no for an answer when she tries to get auditions. She can't give up no matter what.
But I still don't care for her.

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Hi again,
I get the poor orphan excuse, but I think I don't like the actress. I'm not sure why. I think she's playing this part way over the top. She's a little too brittle. I find myself wanting to fast forward through her scenes, but I may miss something important to the story. Jongnam learned very early on to have manners. Jongnam was inately sweet and good, in spite of her sad beginning.
I agree with you, emceema about Myungja. How did she allow that horrible man to take over her life and put her in a house with his children who hate and resent her and basically treat her like crap. Those kids were really young when she entered their lives. Min Ja was only 7 years old and Min Chul, what 12 or 13? She should've taken charge in spite of how they felt about her. I'm not saying to be a mean stepmother, but at least demand respect from two young kids. I think she must like the role of doormat or she'd have stood up for herself a long time ago. Her attitude is don't make waves. Not good!!!
I too love the character Min Chul for all the reasons you said. He's very smart and effective in business and he does have a soft side when it comes to his sister. Am I wrong or am I seeing interest from him in Yon Soo, already from the start? He's very comfortable in his own skin, so maybe its just Min Chul being casual with her and its coming across to me as something else. I know he likes to tease her already. When he saw her walking home and stopped to tell her he couldn't see her right then, but maybe another time. He was so funny and she had no clue what gave him the idea that she was interested. Very cute scene. Very LBH.
Its only the first episode and I can't stop talking already. I'm going to wear myself out with this one.
I'll be back. I'm sure there's something I forgot to say.

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Good Morning BD,
With this watch I'm really noticing things that just flew over my head the other times.
Yoonsu is working in a snack shop as an all around girl doing a little of everything during the day and then we see her as she draws in an art shop at night. I never gave this a second thought before but attached to the snack shop through glass is an art studio.
So while she's cleaning the snack shop she's peering through the glass watching the art instructor give instructions and help to a student. Yoonsu watches intently, taking every bit of instruction in for herself.
In the evening she's wearing the same clothes and she's cleaning the art studio, second job.
When she's all done moping late at night, she's the last one there and she's doing art work, drawing.
Is she a real art major in college? I doubt it. Looks like she works there in exchange for learning the art craft just from what she picks up and learns around the studio.
I never realized that before.
When Joonsu was supposed to meet Sena at the Seoul Tower on Christmas Day, Sena is waiting but while crossing the street Joonsu get hits by a car.
Sena gets that Joonsu is a no show and looks for her at her last job, but was told she quit.
So this is Sena's disappointment in her sister and it sets a never ending spiral of her dislike for Yoonsu.
I don't know the time lapse but Yoonsu gets a job at Victory Records with the help of her friend Narae in hopes that Sena will come to Victory because of the music business.
Minchul is now called Director Lee at Victory Records and his singer wins the singer of the year award.
He's looking mighty good I might add, love the hair.
He tells his father he now wants power over personnel, he deserves a bonus his singer told the dad.
This is when he can't get his singer out the doors, too many fans so he takes her coat, hat and glasses and puts them on Yoonsu and wisks her out the door into a waiting limo to throw the fans off and confuse Yoonsu. LOL It worked. He dumps her out of the limo just as fast.
There's the award show and the party afterwards that Yoonsu and Narae attend along with all the other workers. She's very interested because she wants to be a singer's manager and she wants to learn everything she can.
At the party, Minchul who is in a small office there doesn't notice when his sister Minji gets up to dance and is about to do a strip to music.
Yoonsu doesn't like what she sees and tries to stop her which results in her getting a drink thrown in her face. At the same time Director Lee sees this and grabs his sister and tells Yoonsu he's sorry, while whisking his drunken sister away.
After the affair Yoonsu is racing home and Minchul sees her, backs up his car, gets out and thanks her for helping his sister. He tells her he owes her a lot.
Now here smoochie, I paid close attention this time. Minchul seems very normal to me here, NOT coming on to her.
It's something I myself never realized before but I really don't think at this point he's playing with her.
What do you think?
What I notice this time is that while Minchul is just talking to her with thanks, Yoonsu begins STARING at him and they even play some funny little sound with the music or whatever it is in the background, sorta pointing this out to us.
She's like in a daze looking at him and Minchul here himself, moves his head looking at her funny like "you there?" and he makes a cute face at her.
But at that moment she's remembering the young boy at the orphanage who gave his watch to Sena and she's thinking it's him. Minchul doesn't know what she's thinking, she's staring at him!
When he makes that cute face at her she snaps out of it and is embarrassed.
Too late!! She caught him and his attention!! Nice work Yoonsu!
LBH, rather Minchul thinks she's got it bad for him. LOL He looks down and smiles, bashful? and that's when he tells her he has no time tonight. LOL
Both have mixed up thoughts. Isn't it great??
She says to him "pardon?" and he tells her people are waiting for him and "don't look so lost"..."but we have to make it another day." LOL
Sorry, but I love this stuff. His smile when she walks away tells me he thinks she likes HIM and he's rather proud of the fact.
Yoonsu rushes home to cook, Christmas is tomorrow and it's her and Sena's birthday...
Really now, nobody plays these parts like LBH, but I think I've said that before.
That's it for now...
