Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)

Hello Again emoticon

I agree with you to some degree, Jasy. Yes, Myungja lives a lonely, sad life. I do realize day to day, must be hard on her, but worse than that, she's had to watch her son grow up in misery. That was her trade off for his having a "father". She should have figured it out, if she didn't, that it just wasn't worth it.

When Min Chul left for school in the states, Min Ji went to live with her grandmother, rather than stay in that house without him. The lie that Myungja allowed Sunchun to tell, drove these kids out of their own home. They didn't come back until Min Chul returned from school. He found Min Ji and his grandmother living in deplorable conditions. He was shocked by this. Once his grandmother died, he brought Min Ji home. He refused to give his father the satisfaction of taking away what was their home.

While I do sympathize with Myungja, I feel for all three kids more. She was one of the adults in charge. I wonder how she'll feel when and if she finds out that her husband's motto is, "Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer". That really is somewhat how he sees Sun Jae. He's kept him close, so that he can keep an eye on him, should he get curious about his father's death. The man is a demon. emoticon Really, really bad. Not at all the loving father she thinks he is.

One more thing. How could she expect him to be good to her kid, when he treated his own so shabbily? She's a witness to the relationship he has with his daughter. How vulgar he is and how mean he is to Min Ji. So bad that she once said, she behaves badly because she doesn't want to give him anything to be proud of. How terribly sad is that?? For a young girl not to want to give her father anything to brag about.

On the subject of Min Chul, well Min Chul's a man. He's smart and capable and take charge. He can't push Min Chul around and I don't think he's tried. He has his father's respect, to some degree. That's not to say he didn't pay the price, just like Min Ji. He grew up lonely and bitter and with the responsibility of taking care of his little sister. All of the things he's lived with over fifteen years has taught him to keep his own counsel and not to trust anyone. He too lived a sad lonely life.

So as much as I feel for Myungja, she did a lot of damage to all three children.

Gotta go again. emoticon

 emoticon

Anyeong Hasaeyo! Good sun shiny day, here in LA emoticon

I have to join you in saying "amen" to Sunchun being the devil here. I have only mild compassion to Myungja. She is also a victim but her gutless stance and over-solicituous caring for Minchul and Minji turns me cold. Although Sunjae was a victim too, he grew up being doted on by Sunchun and acknowledged to his friends and acquaintances that he is proud of him. He even took him wherever he goes, like that orphanage visit. I guess Sunjae spent more bonding times with Sunchun that Minchul ever had. Minchul and Minji were the real victims of Sunchun's evil deed.

If there is a chance to chant "Sunchun is a devil man!", now is the time because his past is going to bring chaos to each of our favorite character and we will be in the "valley of tears" for a while.

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)

Good Morning,

I think Myungja is as much to blame as Sunchun dispite me feeling sorry for her. Sunjae is her son and she should never have gone along with that lie. She would have had the most clout to refuse Sunchun this lie at that time in their relationship. The longer their relationship goes on after that first lie, the more harder it is to refuse to go along with it any longer.
She should have demanded to Sunchun in private that she will tell her son who his father is the next day. I don't think she would have been able to tell his son Minchul the truth though.

I think Minchul and Minji endured the worst of the lie though, more so than Sunjae. It's terrible for Sunjae too, don't get me wrong, but he had his mother's love and whatever Sunchun's motive was with Sunjae (keep your enemies close) Sunjae did gain pluses in his relationship with Sunchun. Sunchun was openly proud of him, bragged about him, took him around with him and sent him to college.

Sunchun didn't do a thing for Minji and got rid of Minchul to the states for awhile. Because Minchul is his bio son, he did make sure to get him into the company though. But at home, there was no relationship, no father/son closeness or anything like that.

All three kids suffered for their own reasons. But I believe Minji suffered the worst, than Minchul. Neither had a parent. Sunjae did.

And what's coming is more heartbreak. Sunjae grew up not knowing who his real father is but Minchul will soon find out a dirtier secret about his father and it will just about destroy him.

I'll continue watching this episode today or tonight because I didn't finish it yet.

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)

Good Morning BD,

Sunjae and Minchul are sitting in his car outside of Victory.

Minchul - I heard from Mother and shouldn't I have found out before Yonsoo?

Sunjae - It wouldn't have made any difference. You've not thought of me as your brother anyway. For you, this may have worked out all for the better.

Minchul - For the better...How's that? Knowing you're not Father's son won't recoup any of the lost time. What do you plan to do now?

Sunjae - About what?

Minchul - You're not coming home? You have your mother there.

Sunjae - For now, better not to see each other. I've a favor to ask. Don't hate my mother so much. She's all alone without me in that house. We've lived together for 15 years. I can ask this much of you, right? I'd better go.

Minchul - Sunjae, you and I, how would it be if you and I knew everything since we met each other? Our relationship might've been quite friendly. We wouldn've been like other guys. You and I, we both had a sad life. I lost my mother and you lost your father. We shared a same pain. If not brothers, maybe we could've been friends.

Sunjae - Friends? Yes perhaps, if I didn't know the truth.

Minchul - If you want to pursue a music career, my door's always open.

Sunjae - No. I want a life apart from Father and Victory.

Munchul - I envy you. You can live your life without Father in it.

Sunjae - I'll go now.

Minchul and Yonsoo are parked at the river. Minchul is leaning against the car then walks to face the Han where he just stands staring into the night. Yonsoo gets out of the car to stand beside him and puts her hands around his arm in a comforting way.

The next day at Victory Sunchun wants to talk to Minchul. Minchul is angry and he tells his father he has nothing to say to him. Minchul tells him that it won't affect work, he knows Sunchun is with him because of Victory and Minchul himself is staying with Sunchun because of Victory, "not you." With those words, Minchul walks away from his father.

Mimi meets Sunjae and tells him that she thinks Sena would make a good partner for him, that's the reason she chose Sena out of all the competition. She lets him know that if he's not with Sena, she won't have her so Mimi asks him if he'll make her a hit.
Sunjae tells her she's mistaken, they aren't that close and that she should evaluate Sena for herself. He walks away.

Next, Mimi meets Sena and Jung-hun. Sena introduces him as Zero and Mimi just looks at them, she knows the truth, but Sena doesn't. Mimi asks Sena why she told her that she and Sunjae were close and if they were "close" how come she doesn't know anything about Sunjae? Sena is shocked.
Mimi tells Sena to tell Sunjae that unless he works with her and writes songs for her, there's no deal for her.

Sena is furious at Sunjae and drags him out of Jung-hun's place. Outside she goes off on him about "Zero." She asks why he deceived her when he knew that Zero meant everything to her. She's about to jump over the railing but Sunjae pulls her back. Then he becomes angry and tells her he has his reasons too and that if she wants to jump, go ahead. He walks away angrily from her and Sena goes running after him telling him she's sorry.

Sena tells him that he's all she has in the world as she's tightly holding onto him from the back. With those words, he pauses and is thinking as she cries.

Sunchun tells Sunjae his mother was his first love and that he introduced Myungja to his father and they married soon after. He says he treated his father like his real brother and he felt betrayed. Ever since then he lived his life to surpass him.

Sunchun tells him his mother is in hell because of him and to come back after he cools off. Sunjae says he won't go back to his old life and to be good to his mother.

Sunchun is very angry and tells Sunjae he's just like his father, he'll betray him with an innocent face. He tells him to think carefully, if he turns his back on him, he and his mom will live as strangers.

Sunjae calls up a sleeping Yonsoo and she takes the call on the balcony. He doesn't know what to say to her so asks how her day was.
Yonsoo tells him she went to school and her professor wanted to introduce her to a part time job. She is getting ready for school. Yonsoo says she's happy that Sena is doing what she's always wanted to do and now she has to move on too.

Here is Sunjae's decision breaker on whether or not to help Sena become a singing sensation. Sunjae asks Yonsoo if "she'll" be happier if Sena does well. Yonsoo tells him she already is happy because Sena is doing what she wanted to do.
So to KEEP Yonsoo happy, this is why he decides to help Sena in my opinion. Not for Sena but for Yonsoo because he already told Mimi he didn't want to be involved with Sena's singing career.

Playing golf is Minchul and a few others. The creep Mr. Jang is there when he has no business being there. A potential girl singer's father is arguing with Mr. Jang. Seems that this father has given money to Jang to get his daughter to the top. Jang it seems, asks for bribes.

Minchul sees a little commotion and walks over and asks Jang what he's doing here. The father is angry and tells Minchul about "paying his dues" and still his daughter hasn't gotten anywhere. Minchul gives such a mad look at Jang, he knows exactly what is going on.

Back at Victory, Minchul, Sunchun and Jang are in the office. Minchul is angry about this latest incident involving Jang and says he won't have Jang trash the company name. He tells his father he wants his resignation because he's done it before. Sunchun dismisses what Minchul has just said and that he'll take care of it. Minchul stares at his father and walks out.

Walking through the hallway with his aides, the two aides are discussing and wondering why Sunchun protects Jang, other workers would have been fired and wonders why Sunchun and Jang are so tight all these years.

Minchul is listening to this as they're walking and then he tells one of his aides to do a background check on Mr. Jang, find out his associates and his doings and to report anything suspicious to him.

Sunchun and Minchul go to Muse for a meeting, (I don't know why.) As they're heading up, Mimi and Sunjae are at the top of the stairs waiting and watching them. Minchul and Sunchun can't believe that Sunjae is here.

Mimi's plan is now in motion. She has this big smile on her face as she faces them. She extends her hand to Sunchun and he barely shakes it. Sunchun looks at Sunjae and asks what he's doing here.

Mimi answers for Sunjae. He is working as a producer at Muse...

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)

Good Morning BD,

It's been a quiet weekend here. Emceema, are you done with All In yet? I watched that and I enjoyed LBH in it too. I like him in just about everything he does anyway, he's such a good actor. I loved him in Everybody Has Secrets, did you see that one?

I have a few things to say about Sunjae. Now I know nobody likes Sena including me but...when she confronts Sunjae after her meeting with Mimi about him being Zero, I thought it pretty cold of him not to offer Sena a bit more understanding about the matter in how she saw it and no apology forthcoming from him.

For as long as he's known Sena, all she has talked about was Zero. She longed to meet him and Sunjae knew this. Granted, I know that he had to keep it a secret from everybody but once Mimi let the cat out of the bag to Sena, he could have been a bit more understanding of Sena's hurt and anger.

Afterall, he gets plenty of "concern and understanding" from Yonsoo over his issues. Can't he do the same for someone? He stopped Sena from going over the railing, who wouldn't have? But after she yelled at him, he told her if she wanted to kill herself or jump (I don't remember what words he said) to go ahead and he walks away.
I thought that was pretty unfeeling. He tells her he had his reasons too, fine...but the way he walks away from her was pretty cold. She ends up running after him!

For someone who pouts in front of Yonsoo expecting some kind of words of reaction and comfort you'd think he'd understand and give the same to Sena for a few minutes. Or is it that his feelings are what matters most?

The other thing though we haven't fully gotten there yet is how he can just walk out of his mother's life telling her he can't be a good son.
He can dish out some coldness himself, can't he? Though I don't want to get ahead of myself here, when it all comes down to it with Myungja and Sunchun, Sunjae walks out of his mother's life though she would be left all alone, but Minchul, the "cold one" comes through for his father in the end. Ironic.

It's fine and probably good that Sunjae moves out of the house, but why must be erase his mother from his life? Though she lied to him, she was always good to him and showed her love for him. Doesn't that matter?

I get the vibes that Sunjae is self centered. It's all about him. And he doesn't even know the truth to how his father really died yet. That will be another story altogether. But as of right now, he's feeling sorry for himself.

I still say that Minchul and Minji led a sadder life than Sunjae in that house. All three were lied to but all through those years, Sunjae did not know that Sunchun wasn't his father. So he lived his life with a somewhat caring father who showed concern for his future.

Minchul and Mimi on the other hand though the bio children of Sunchun, led a sad, lonely and angry existence because they thought their father cheated on their mother and had this love child. Sunchun was mean to Minji and not loving to either of them in thoughts or action. I think they had it worse.

Yet in the car outside of Victory, Minchul is the one reaching out to Sunjae. The older brother who is just as hurt extends the olive branch. His door is always opened to him at Victory now.

Throughout what we have seen so far of this drama, I can really see no wrong that Minchul has done. If he seems cold at times, that's his personality. He has never set out to hurt anyone intentionally or bad mouth anybody. Sunjae ignores the fact that Minchul and Yonsoo are a couple and any chance he gets, he takes Yonsoo away or bathmouths Minchul to her. I still don't like this guy.

I guess that's about it for this episode for me, I'll start on 14 I think it is. I want to watch Minchul dance with Yonsoo...

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)

Good Morning BD Family emoticon

Sorry I've been missing in action. Thanks for carrying on Jasy. You've done a great job in recaps. emoticon

A couple of things. I do agree that of all three kids, Sun Jae had the best deal. He had two parents, a father who seemed to care about him and a doting mother. In all appearances he was the favored son. Min Chul and Min Ji had a father, who was less than half there and seemingly oblivious to the havoc he caused in his own children's lives. His attitude was, "It is what it is. Live with it!!" Very cold and harsh, especially when they were younger. The fact that they survived says something about Min Chul, who succeeded through the determination not to let this man take anything else away from them. He took Min Ji with him and tried to save her along with himself.

I think its interesting that Sun Jae asked Min Chul not to hate his mother so much and that without him there, she'll be all alone in that house. If he's so worried, why doesn't he stay there and ride it out with her? Why does Min Chul owe him any special favors? He's been a thorn in Min Chul's side for fifteen years and recently he's been contentious and spiteful to him. I think it was pretty perceptive of Min Chul to realize that none of this was Sun Jae's fault and to offer his hand at this point. Everyone places the blame where it belongs, on Sunchun.

Another thing is, that Sun Jae doesn't have all of the facts here about what happened back then. Recently he found out that Sunchun wasn't his bio father and he was okay with it, a few words from Mimi changed that? Why not dig a little deeper? He may have found out the same things, but I think his reaction was a little premature. From what I understood in this scene is that his fathers, (both) were competitors in business. I know Mimi told him that Sunchun used unfair tactics to succeed against his father, but I don't know if that's enough for him to turn on the only father he's ever known. I don't know what I'm trying to say. I mean, although the other guy was his bio father, I can't imagine him feeling any kind of connection with him, so quickly. You'd think the man who raised him as a son, would get a chance to try to explain some of it away. I have no sympathy for Sunchun, it just doesn't seem realistic for him to feel such loyalty to someone he's never known, without finding out the facts. He never even asked any questions yet.

It infuriated me when he asks Yon Soo how's Min Chul treating her. HOW'S this his business?? Anybody??? He says, he hopes he's good to her. He sincerely hopes so. Only then he won't regret his decision. He goes on to say that if she'd decided to leave the house one day later, he wouldn't have given her up to Min Chul. You and I, I guess that's the extent of our fate. She doesn't say one word here. She and Min Chul have resolved their differences about him by now, she needs to say something in his defense, but never does. Some girlfriend!! Here's where she needed to say, "Sun Jae, its none of your business and I wish you'd stay out of my and Min Chu's personal lives!!"

Here's my problem with this scene. WHO is this guy? What gives him the right to say these things to her? His decision? He gave her up to Min Chul?? Is that what happened?? Is she property that can be kept or given away? Isn't she a woman who can choose who she wants to be with? I'd be interested to see what would have happened if Min Chul hadn't shown up.

Here's my scenario: Yon Soo leaves the house. She goes to live with Narae and Sena. He continues to stalk her, but now Sena's watching and Yon Soo has to make herself really clear because of that. He's never going to get her, Min Chul or no Min Chul. Sena or no Sena. Her heart is elsewhere and she's not going to succumb to his advances no matter what he does. He may think he's made a sacrifice, but at the end of the day, he'd never have won her heart, unless she finds whiny and pathetic sexy. emoticon So, did he give her up to Min Chul?? NO!!! She always belonged to him. You can't give up something that was never yours!!!

He's been hanging out with Sena for a long time now. You mean to tell me he doesn't know her feelings for him yet? He's sort of played along with her till now. He's never been direct with her either. Sena does know that he's attracted to Yon Soo and throws digs every once in a while, but he's never responded to those digs, so she keeps on hoping. Nobody in this bunch is honest about their intentions. And why is he still calling Yon Soo whenever he feels like it?? I don't like that.

When Sunchun finally gets to see Sun Jae they have a showdown and this is where Sunchun's real colors come out. He tells him the real story of how his bio father took his mother from him, after his treating him like a brother. He says from then on it was his intention to always surpass him. Somehow, if it wasn't Sunchun talking, I'd understand this. Because its Sunchun I have my doubts. He tells Sun Jae not to let Mimi use him and goes on to tell him to think of his mother's happiness. I think I heard a threat in there, but I could be mistaken. Sun Jae tells him he's never going back to that life. Here's where Sunchun blows his top. He tells him, that's why blood is thicker than water. emoticon He goes on to say that like his father he'd betray him with that innocent face. He tells him to think very carefully. If he turns his back on him, he and his mother will live as strangers. Sun Jae has no words. But, I've always known why Min Chul would be the heir to Victory. Blood tells!! Not that it matters much after this, but it was never Sunchun's intention to hand over his company to anyone, but his real son. Very telling! The man is diabolical!!

I found his treatment of Sena offensive and I'm no fan either. He was pretty cold to her. He likes being the recipient of sympathy and support from Yon Soo. Why couldn't he understand Sena needed that from him? He's always on the receiving end? I don't like this guy, at all. emoticon She's been a staunch Zero supporter from day one and he knew it. Why was it so hard for him to be nice to her here and to try to make her feel better about keeping the secret from her??

I don't like what's coming up, but I guess I'll have to face it. I'm glad I don't have to face it alone. Thanks for being with me. emoticon

I'm not at work today, so you know I'll be back. emoticon

Anyeong Hasaeyo! Good morning BDF emoticon

Jasy: Did you like the ending of "All In"? I was a little bit disappointed that he returned to be an ordinary person. Although he gets the girl, I would have liked him to remain the head of that corporate group. At least not end up poor again, doing gardening. I want my hero successful in love and in life. LOL! emoticon The truth is, I don't want to see LBH in old, raggedy, checkered shirts.

Back to BD:

It seems that you guys now sympathize with Sena. I'm sorry to say that I don't have a single iota of liking for her at all. Sena is the one who forced Sunjae to this relationship. He was kind enough to humor her because of Yonsoo. But if it were not for Yonsoo, Sunjae will never give her the time of day. Sena also lied to Mimi when she claimed that Sunjae is her man. And when she acosted him of lying to her about Zero, she was only bluffing that she will jump off the balcony. I wished she did so I don't have to see her any more in the future episodes. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Whew!!!!!!!!!! That is mean of me. But of all the characters here in BD, Sena doesn't have any redeeming value till the end.

Smoochie: I love the expression on his face (Minchul's) on the 6th frame from the top. His eyes so dreamy, showing his feelings at that moment. emoticon

Thanks smoochie for those pictures. I love them all of course but especially the fourth frame where he shyly (our Minchul??) places her arms around his neck...LOL

And the fifth one where he holds her so close and the seventh one where he sings "I love you" and the last one where his eyes were closed, then he opens them to look at her and then that smile, he's just so happy being there with her.
Such great acting.

Emceema, the ending was okay, I was just happy that he lived through it all. Funny you should mention the checkered shirt, I don't like seeing him in those flannel shirts either. LOL

I'll be back...

Hello BD emoticon

Emceema, I'm with you on Sena. I never feel she redeems herself, right to the bitter end. I'm just bashing Sun Jae. emoticon

I had to force myself to watch the last episode of All In. I thought he was going to die and couldn't bear to watch it. I thought, this kid lived such a crappy life and had such bad luck, I couldn't stand it if he died. I felt so bad for him through out this whole thing. He broke my heart. emoticon When he tells her at the end that all he had was a hole in his chest and this house, I thought, where's all the money? Where was all of the money?? Anybody know?

I have a major breakthrough in my family. emoticon My daughter in law asked to borrow a movie with Choi Ji Woo. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon I may hook her yet. emoticon I started to tell her the storyline and she asked to see it. I don't know if anyone here has seen The Hole, but that's the one. Can't wait to see her reaction. emoticon We may get another poster. At the very least, she'll stop thinking I'm crazy. emoticon

Gotta go.
