Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Good Morning BD Family
Yeah, nobody does those scenes quite like LBH. Each of them were in a different place. It works out though. He goes on to play on that one misunderstood look and she doesn't even know why. I love it too. When it was mentioned in the club that he was the owner's son, she reflects back to the orphanage and the gift the owner's son gave Sena. Its just the wrong son.
Min Ji is a girl in big trouble and when Yon Soo sees her dancing and getting ready to strip she's reminded of Sena and how horrified she'd be to see her little sister behaving that way. She tries to save the day, but Min Ji is not grateful, Min Chul is. I don't think Min Ji knew her brother was on the premises. She was surprised. But, he's the one person she doesn't mess with.
Meanwhile Sena is living a crappy life of her own. She's in that other seedy club. What is she doing there? I don't think she's working there or she wouldn't be slapping a customer. I don't know if we ever know what the relationship is between her and the owner. Do we?
Yon Soo and Sena come face to face when Sena is in Victory stealing. She does get away, but not before Yon Soo gets to see who the thief is. Yon Soo gets blamed for letting her get away and Narae comes to her defense with the manager. At least she gets to know Sena's in Seoul.
Its interesting to me how these two are bound together as brother and sister. Min Chul and Min Ji, I mean. They've made it clear that they live apart from the rest of the family. They're both miserable living in that house, but Min Chul insists that they stay there. He doesn't want his father to have the satisfaction of driving them out of their home. And I think he likes being a constant reminder of what a crumb his father is. I believe his father knows that. I also think that's why the father is so mean and uncaring to them. They are witnesses to his brutal abuse of their mother's memory. They are under the impression that he cheated on her even while she was on her death bed. He waited ten years to bring Sun Jae and his mother into the house and his children naturally assumed she was his mistress, even while their mother was alive. It was a very bad beginning for everyone concerned. I couldn't have moved in under those circumstances. They could have done it a little better. Okay a lot better.
And then there's the ridiculous stepmother, who goes out of her way to get abused. I don't know what her original plan was, but do you think its working out? Min Ji comes home really drunk, carried by her brother, causes a comotion and this woman shows up in her room with honey water. Does she FEEL welcome? She gets a bath and her foot cut for her troubles. She should've straightened out that behavior right from the start when they were still young enough. Now she needs to just keep her distance from them and let them live their lives. Are we to believe she's a victim here? Are we supposed to feel pity for her? I don't. Maybe I'm hard hearted, but I know how I'd react in a similar situation and there'd be no honey water. Her beast of a husband would do anything she wanted, so why not ask him to get them their own place? He'd do it. Do you think she likes the role of martyr?? Maybe.
One more thing, while I'm bashing her. I find her and her son's moments together a little too intimate for mother and son. Sexy feet? What?!! I don't know what that's about, but Min Chul makes a comment that may be alluding to just that, when he tells Sun Jae that he doesn't tell him how to treat his mother. It was rather pointed, at least to me, but maybe because I found it inappropriate as a mother of sons. Its out of context here, but you'll know what I mean when you see it. It seems like Min Chul has walked in on some of their "special" moments together. I'm not trying to imply that anything is going on with them, its just the degree of intimacy that bothered me.
How about LBH's walk. I love his walk. He walks with such authority, like he always has a purpose. Min Chul, I mean.
Nsheldon, I just read your post after I wrote this and before I submitted it. See?? different strokes. So funny we're talking about the same thing, but not the same opinion. I'd pay big money to see him on a runway. Maybe after you've seen this drama, your opinion of him'll change, maybe not. I've seen him in many, many things and I think he's my favorite actor. Not necessarily a hottie (like Suky), but he has his own charm. I've seen him Naked. LOL
I'm going to the post office today. So watch for your mail in the next few days. I've taken a couple of days off, so I finally can do it. Thanks for being so patient. I've added a couple of things.
I'll be back
Later

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Anyeong Hasaeyo! How are you, my "beadies" (A shortened beautiful ladies)
Discussion is getting energetic. Talking about LBH strut, love it, LOVE IT
Not only when he walks, but also when he runs with his hair going all over his face
Jasy, that encounter between Yonsoo and Minchul on the roadside is the beginning of their attraction. Earlier in the day, Yonsoo was told that Minchul was the son of the President of Victory and remembered the boy who she met at the orphanage. So she stared at him but he (Minchul) didn't know why she's staring. So he mistook it for admiration or crush on him. Love the way he drives, get in and out of his car, zooming in the highway in his top down car, hair blowing. A typical gigolo, we could assume. Also love him in his sunglasses, the way he tilt his head. He standout in the crowd and he's not too tall. LOL!
Now, I'm obsessing again! I've been watching BD for the 12th time and only the Yonsoo and Minchul scenario excites me everytime. Just like the beach scene of Suky and Jongnamah. But right now, Suky is a fog in my mind.
Smoochie: I think Sena was taken in by the bar owner when she came to Seoul and failed to meet Yonsoo. She was starving, probably sleeping in the alley and stealing food. The Bar Owner (the actor is also a frequent "bad guy" in many k-dramas) seems to have a soft heart on SEna and despite her bad temper, he allows her to stay. Sena is a selfish brat even at the orphanage. I wonder why Yonsoo was so taken by her. Even before the "scalding incident", Yonsoo already acted more than a real sister. She was 5 years older than Sena so at the time of their separation, Yonsoo was 18 (assuming that's the legal age to work and she is supposed to have finished high school) and Sena 13. From the time that Yonsoo left the orphanage, it was probably 2 years before that Seoul Tower incident happened. Then the bar owner kept Sena for 5 years, so she should be 20 when Yonsoo finally met her at Victory stealing CDs. According to the cast of characters on page 1, Yonsoo is 27, Sena is 22, Minchul is 29 and Sunjae is 26.
But Sena still looks and acts like a little girl, the way she dresses and I hate the way she walks. Her legs looks crooked. Her looks improved later in the drama but to me, she was still a self-centered brat. Her wardrobe were ridiculous too.
BTW, where's Addie, Adwatcher and the rest of the family? If you are lurking, please say HELLO.

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Lol emceema!!
Okay, I love when he says nothing at all but just looks at you so intently! I love his grin and his laugh, so cute, and his deep voice.
I like how when in a romantic moment before a kiss, he takes the time to "study and touch" the girl's face. I love him behind the wheel too with the top down and running along the beach. LOL
He looks best in a suit walking his brisk walk with authority. He's got it going on and he knows it.

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Emceema,
Its so good to have your input. I know you're a BD expert, because I know how many times you've watched it, so I value your insight.
You've said it perfectly; The LBH strut!!! And if anybody has a right to strut its him. He's got the stuff to strut.
I love this actor in everything, even the bad ones. He comes through everytime. He has an intimacy with the camera and knows exactly how to use it, and the camera loves him.
If you haven't seen him in Everybody Has Secrets, you must!!! Its excellent and he's so good in it, you have to fall in love with him all over again. Okay, maybe its just me, but I don't think so.
No he's not handsome in the traditional sense, but he's got this unspoken sexiness and personna going that's hard to put a name to. Anybody want to try?
One more time.
COME ON!!!! He's not hot??? PLEASE!!!!!!!

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Good Morning BD,
I see things are heating up here already so early on. Makes watching this drama all the more exciting.
It's great you're joining us daftonbb!
Nsheldon, I know you're going to enjoy this drama the more you get into it, it's a great story and gets more intense as it goes on.
LBH is one ultimate actor, he has taken on all kinds of different roles and does a supreme job for each. Prissy he ain't. LOL No way, no how.
Director Lee (Minchul) asks to see Yonsoo in his office. She acts so meek around him and I know he notices. He'd like to know why she wants to work at Victory when she's an art major, she could get a job anywhere.
Yonsoo tells him the reason is personal. LOL Mixed message again?
The instant she says that he turns around and being quite positive it's all about him, leans on the door with a smile and asks her if she's infatuated with him, "should I set your desk here?" YIEKS!!
Yonsoo, looking more uneasy then before tells him she has to find someone.
Director Lee asks if her long lost love is supposed to come looking for her or something?
He sees a bit of humor in this but I think it pertains to his part in thinking HE makes her all meek and jittery around him because she must be love struck! Just my observations. I know he doesn't quite know what to make of her.
Nevertheless, Yonsoo asks if she can continue to work there.
His answer? There is no answer, he hands her a bag with a coat in it to replace hers that got ruined at the awards party.
At that moment she zones out again and remembers who she thinks is him, handing his watch over to Sena as kids and she telling him "we don't want freebies."
Remembering this, Yonsoo tells Minchul "I don't want freebies" and she has this look to her face as she stares at him, wanting him to recognize her? LOL I think she's playing too.
Minchul stares at her with those piercing eyes of his and he tells her she can't turn down kindness.
After she leaves, he looks at her resume which contains her picture. What is he thinking?
Sena goes to Victory's audition and this is one scene I dislike the most.
What's up with the Frankenstein walk she does as she walks madly over to the director's table? Who told her to do that? She looks so ugly doing it, she looks like she's nine years old again.
She sings a song by Zero and Director Lee seems interested in the song. But it's a no go for her.
Things get heated and there's a slap happy scene between Sena, Minji and the newest top singer of the company. Some hair pulling and the like.
Yonsoo being very upset follows Sena, Sena is very angry at her for not meeting her that day long ago and lets her have it. She brags that she's doing fine, makes her come with her to see where she lives which turns out to be at a club I guess, and lets Yoonsu know that the owner buys her clothes, food and gives her money.
Yoosu sees she's a kept woman and is besides herself with grief.
She goes home to Narae and cries her heart out for her sister, blaming herself.
Next day Yoonsu is softly sobbing while cleaning the glass windows at Victory. Director Lee, on his way in sees her and stops and watches her.
I have to add that this is a favorite scene of mine...
They're standing in front of each other with the glass between them. Minchu intently looks at her and she at him while softly crying and he takes his thumb and wipes away her tears through the glass!!
And she lets him. Not a word is spoken...
You think he's playing with her?? He's not done with her yet.
He enters her space and she's standing before a rack of pamphlets.
He puts his coffee cup down and walks a few steps ending off standing right in front of her.
He very slowly lifts his arm up right along side her face by inches, and he does this in a way that's so slow and intimate, that it makes her think he's about to touch her teary face. She slowly lowers her face.
Now that he's got her, he continues on "innocently."
He does this very, very well. He's playing with her.
Slowly, he reaches past her face by inches but not without first hesitating a tiny bit, and he takes a flyer off the rack, holds it in front of her face looking at it like he's interested in it, moves a few steps to retrieve his cup and walks away. Just like that.
Not a word is spoken. He's playing...
That music I love begins , it's always played when something exciting is going down, so we see Yoonsu chasing after him in the hallway. LOL
In Director Lee's office, Yoosu asks a favor of him, to help her sister become a singer...
