Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Good Morning BD Family
How's the weather on the west coast?? Here we have, I don't know how many inches of snow. What a pain and more coming. It looks pretty, but it makes getting around to finish last minute things really hard.
I want to comment on episode 21. First of all I want to know why Min Chul wouldn't ask the doctor about Yon Soo's condition. I mean, he's there and at least had the opportunity to find out what was wrong with her. He seemed to take Narae's word that it was like that since he broke up with her. So unlike Min Chul!
I'm a little confused by Min Chul's reaction to seeing Sun Jae rushing out of a cab to be at Yon Soo's side. Was it resignation or surprise. I don't think he's so surprised to see Sun Jae there. He knows this guy is going to take any situation to get closer to Yon Soo, but I think he also knows that he's given up his rights. I'd loved to have seen him at Yon Soo's side when Sun Jae arrived. What would've happened? Would he tell Min Chul to get lost? Would he get lost? Maybe. If he thought Sun Jae could help her and he was determined to keep his distance, he may have left. But, I don't think so.
I agree with you, Jasy. One of the deciding factors for Sun Jae to "allow" her to go home was that he heard that Min Chul was coming back. Didn't he wonder what he was doing there in the first place? Did he ask? I don't think so. As long as he could get her out of his reach he was okay. What a creep.
Mimi's arrival really was bad timing. She got her pound of flesh and now was leaving Korea. She achieved her purpose. I can't say I blame her, but I felt bad for Min Ji in all of this. Not Sun Chun. They seem to have become closer through all of this, though. Its funny to see father and daughter able to connect on any level, isn't it? He doesn't deserve it, but his children didn't desert him. In fact they're starting to build a relationship. Min Ji is a little fresh to him, but he's got it coming. Min Chul does try to make her a little softer with her father. I like that about him. He's nothing, if not traditional. He knows his father didn't earn his respect and I don't believe he does respect him, but he does give the appearance of respect. I find that admirable for a son. Especially a son who was so mistreated.
I want to talk about the scene between Yon Soo and Min Chul on the roof top, but I want to watch it again. It was very important to everything that happens after that.
I'll be back.
Later
I wanted to post a picture, but my computer isn't cooperating. I'll try to post it in a new post.

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Good Morning BD,
I'm going to backtrack a bit to 20 but after reading where we left off, I may still be leaving some scenes out. I guess I've got too much going on right now with the holiday fast approaching. Anyway I rewatched this episode and I thought we left off when Yonsoo went on a trip so that's where I'll pick it up.
Yonsoo takes off for some alone time to think and she doesn't tell anyone that she's going or where she's going. I think she's had about all she can take. Narae gives Minchul a call a week later to see if he knows anything about it. No, he's in the dark too. He tells her to call him when she gets back. He's very concerned.
We see Yonsoo sitting outside on a porch in a woodsy area. She's doing a lot of thinking. At around the same time we see Minchul at home sitting alone smoking and thinking about Yonsoo. He really loves her so what the heck is he waiting for?
Yonsoo finally comes back home. She's cleared her head and has made some important decisions for herself. She has put things in perspective and wants to move on. How did I know that? Easy...waiting for her up on the roof is who else? Sunjae! The little twirp doesn't give up. And Yonsoo is NOT happy to see him. She's taken aback by his waiting for her. She's angry. Instantly Sunjae bombarbs her with questions. It'd be fine if she were his girl and she loved him but she doesn't and that still doesn't click with him.
Sunjae immediately asks her where she disappeared to and wants to know why she didn't call HIM. She doesn't answer. He starts in with orders telling her not to exert herself...and Yonsoo looks very mad. She tells him not to treat her like an invalid. She tells him nothing's changed since she found out except him. She says if she doesn't see him she thinks she can forget she's sick.
All his "doctoring" backfired on him! I'm glad to hear it. She's going in now and tells him goodbye. He stands there stunned. He doesn't move. He looks like he's going to cry smoochie.
Now...Minchul comes running to Yonsoo's apartment. He stops right outside the door on ground level. He hesitates. He calls her and tells her he's in front of her place and to come out for a minute. She hangs up. I'm guessing that she went inside to get rid of Sunjae but quickly came back out to be alone for a bit. Narae must have called Minchul like he asked her to do and he came running. Too late?
Minchul waits a bit outside but Yonsoo doesn't come out. He goes in and up to the roof. At the doorway he sees her. She's sitting on the bench head down deep in thought and looking very alone and sad. He knows something's wrong with her. He watches her for a few seconds and she looks up and sees him. Minchul walks over to her stopping in front of her.
Minchul also asks her where's she been but with Minchul, Yonsoo answers. It may not be what he wants to hear but she's willing to talk to him. He's still the man she loves. And he's still the man who loves her. And she knows it.
Minchul - You went on a trip?
Yonsoo - Yes
Minchul - Why all of a sudden? (she's not looking at him)
Yonsoo - I just wanted to.
Minchul sits down besides her. "Something's going on, isn't there?" He looks at her.
Yonsoo looks at him then turns away.
Minchul - "Yonsoo"
Yonsoo looks at him - Do you have to ask? I'm still in shock from breaking up with you. So I'm trying different things to try to forget. I tried begging you to come back, tried drinking and traveling. I'm trying everything that someone who gets her heart hurt because of love can do. (that last sentence was subbed wrong so I fixed it. LOL)
I think taking a trip was the best remedy. (Minchul is staring at her.) You were on my mind every waking minute, but on this trip I got to thinkin about other things. You came over concerned for me?
Minchul - I was bothered that somethng bad might've happened to you...
Yonsoo - What could possibly happen? Anyway, I'm sorry to make you fret over me. (Minchul is looking at her, he's so close to her) I came to a conclusion from this trip. From now on, we should ignore each other's lives. That way I can forget you faster and you don't have to come running like this. So don't ask me and I won't try to find out about you. Just think that we're living happily somewhere. This is what you wanted, right?
When Yonsoo's done talking she lowers her head. Minchul is still looking at her. He sees right through her though he can't quite figure it out he knows it's something more than this.
Minchul takes her face in his hands and he looks into her eyes.
Minchul - Yonsoo. Don't try to fool me.
Yonsoo - Fool you?
Minchul - The last time we met, you were different. And this is not you. Don't tell me nothing is wrong. (he never takes his eyes away from hers)
Yonsoo - Nothing's wrong. (she moves her face away from his hands) I'm grateful. I won't forget your running over out of concern for me. You should go now.
I just can't describe the look on his face for some reason. He's concerned and confused. He's worried. He loves her and cares about her. He sits there a while looking at her. He doesn't know what to say now because she just made herself clear and she's calling the shots. He's not used to that. Heck, we aren't either. We always wanted her to make herself clear, right? Well she finally did.
Minchul finally gets up and walks over to the door. He hesitates again, then walks out. Yonsoo looks at the empty doorway and says "chief." She's about to cry. Minchul walks outside and stops. He can't leave like this, he's thinking and doesn't know what to do. He knows something else is wrong with Yonsoo but he doesn't know what. He just stands there.
Yonsoo quickly gets up and walks over to the edge of the roof to get a glimpse of Minchul. She really hasn't put him out of her system at all. She's devastated and he is too. Yonsoo gets a dizzy spell and falls down knocking over a flower pot. She has passed out. Minchul hears the crash and looks up.
Their music begins...
There was a scene before this all happened of Yonsoo in her art studio but I can't remember all the details. I know Yonsoo is alone after class and is looking at Minchul's portrait that she drew and then she puts it in the bottom of a pile of sketches. She calls Minchul but doesn't speak and she hangs up. Minchul who was at work calls her back and tells her that things will be fine with Sena eventually and not to worry or something like that. He thinks that was what she was calling about. She's about to say something to him but says never mind. She takes Minchul's portrait back out of the pile and touches his face and holds him to her chest in an embrace.
Minchul is more worried now because she wanted to say something but didn't. Maybe you remember more of that scene smoochie.
Sunjae stills bothers the heck out of me. The way she spoke to him after her trip, she doesn't want to see him anymore. She's made that decision and made herself clear. Will he respect that? No, her illness will "allow" him to still be in her face. Anyway he can be around her he'll go for it.
Minchul is a different story altogether. He and Yonsoo love each other still but Minchul's issues are keeping them apart. Is Minchul having second thoughts now? Once he heard her words of giving up on him, he seems to feel that can't be, there must be something else wrong. LOL Is he all full of himself or does he really sense something is wrong with her? Yea, he senses something is wrong with her. Not long ago she was all over him begging him. He's stubborn and now she's thrown in the towel. He's concerned because this isn't like her.
Smoochie, that clip of LBH you said you didn't know what he was doing but you could watch him doing it all day...I think he has a wedgie.

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Good Morning BD Family
Jasy, a wedgie?? So funny!! And now you're fixing subtitles. Think of how far we've come. I know too, when the subs are not right. I must watch too much Kdrama.
I love your post. The only thing I saw that interested me, was when Yon Soo is telling Min Chul to leave her alone, in essence, was the look of surprise on his face for a second. He never thought SHE'D be the one to say those things. A second later he came to his senses and realized this was not Yon Soo. I think its a mixture of arrogance and concern for her that makes him not believe her. First of all, he knows that she loves him and he's the only man for her. That's the arrogance. Second of all, he feels in his heart there's more to this than meets the eye, but can't put his finger on it.
If Sun Jae wasn't such a selfish, controlling creep, Min Chul would have had the whole story by now. Of course we know that Sun Jae has his own agenda. It was great to see Yon Soo shoot him down, wasn't it? His calling her while she was away and telling her to call him, that he was worried, made him sound like a boyfriend or husband. Not the call itself, but the tone of the call. So possessive! Like he had the right!
It still bothers me that when Min Chul took her to the hospital and had to leave, when he came back to find her gone already he didn't collar a doctor and find out what was wrong with her. Did he buy Narae's excuse that she was sick since he left her? I guess so.
There's a scene coming up between Yon Soo and Sun Jae that really infuriates me. Can you guess which one? I'm not going to tell.
The thing with the portrait of Min Chul. This was the day after Yon Soo humiliated herself in front of him. She was at her weakest point right then and couldn't contain herself. I'm sure when she woke up sober, she realized that nothing she did was going to make him succumb to her wishes. I don't know if she regretted her actions of the night before, but I think his behavior was a wake up call for her. It wasn't going to happen. She used the number Narae had given her and called him and found herself unable to speak to him. She hung up and seemed resigned to letting him go. She took the portrait, that she so lovingly kept near her and touched and put it under the pile of other work. When Min Chul called her back, she was so touched by hearing from him and his supportive words that she went and retrieved the portrait and hugged it close to her. I was happy to see how large it was, so it really was almost like she was hugging him. I said, almost. When she left on her trip, we see she brought it with her. I think while she was away she decided to let him go. I think she felt the burden of her illness would be more than he needed along with everything else he had on his plate right then.
Why does she think he would be less burdened even if they're not together? Doesn't she think that he'd find out at some point? Does she think that not being together would make him care less? What's wrong with these two people? Does he think just because he left her, she doesn't think about him and worry about what he must be going through? No job, no house. Min Ji and his father to care for. Is it better without her? How could that be?
This episode has so much going on. There's a lot more drama coming up! Stay tuned!
I have to go now. But, I'll be back.
Later

These are worth clicking on, just to see my little hottie!!

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Good Morning,
Emceema, we do miss you. A trip and a new boyfriend, huh? Enjoy yourself and have a fun holiday and we hope to see you back here in the new year.
I really do see where Yonsoo is coming from in trying to call her feelings for Minchul off. She's tried everything there is to make him come back to her. Minchul shouldn't be so surprised, this is what he wanted, an end to their relationship. But he's pretty sure this isn't the only issue and he can't figure her out or get anything more out of her. She's being stubborn like him now.
Remember when he told Yonsoo that it was hard breaking up with her? Those words were very telling. He broke up with her while he still loves her. Now that Yonsoo calls it quits, he hesitates. He knows something else is wrong but if he didn't love her he wouldn't care, right? He loves her too much not to worry.
I liked when Minchul told her she can't fool him. Remember when he held her face in his hands, well if it were me I would have caved in right then and there. She knows he loves her and if she told him she's ill, he would be her strength, holding her up through it all, being beside her. I wish she'd tell him.
That's interesting smoochie that you noticed Minchul never asked the doctor what was wrong with her. I never thought of it either. If he asked, would this doctor friend of Sunjae's tell Minchul what was wrong with Sunjae's "girlfriend?" I think Minchul believed what Narae told him, that's she been sick ever since he left her. That sounds like she's depressed and weak and maybe doesn't eat, stuff like that. He might feel he's at fault. When he had to run home to his father he came back quickly and Yonsoo had already gone home. Under those circumstances, if it were me, I wouldn't think she had a bad illness at all because the hospital dismissed her. I think Minchul is smarter than me though, he's still troubled.
I have no doubt in my mind that Sunjae took her out of the hospital because he knew Minchul was coming back. I'll never understand that kind of thinking. Does the creep know that Minchul carried her to the hospital? He thinks by separating them he'll get her in the end. He tells Minchul to stay away from her but Minchul came running when she came home from her trip. Minchul doesn't give a rat's behind what Sunjae thinks right now. They may be broken up but he still loves her and he worries about her.
I don't know what scene you're talking about smoochie that infuriates you about Sunjae. I haven't watched ahead in this watch but I know which one infuriates me but I'm not sure when it'll come up. It's when Sunjae begins his daily morning injections because he's taught her to be helpless and dependent on him.
I guess now we're back to 21 and where we left off. I can't wait to see Minchul by her side again and being there for her to lean on. Yonsoo still has to deal with Sunjae yet again. Imagine this, she just got done telling him when she sees him he reminds her that she's sick. And now he's taken her home and will play doctor to her again. Aren't there any visiting nurses in Korea? Narae just has to tell Minchul the truth. What's Sunjae's bright idea of keeping this secret away from Sena? She had a right to know from the get go.
I love those two pictures of LBH. So deep in thought...
