K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
I'm back. Yours was a really good post smoochie! My feeling on why Minchul is pursuing Yonsoo is simple. He still loves her but his instinct tells him something more is wrong with her than love sickness and he just can't let it go. All of Yonsoo's uncommon actions and some of her reactions have made him realize something is not quite right with her. Then there's Sunjae and his harsh reactions towards Minchul concerning Yonsoo and Minchul just feels it that he's been kept in the dark about something concerning her. Her passing out and trip to the hospital and quick exit troubles him. And she is simply just not herself.
Just like Minchul said, her actions now trouble him more than when she was clinging to him. She's always crying. He's pursuing her but I wonder if it's actually to get back together with her. It's possible that it's just to find out what's troubling her or if she's sick because he still loves her and cares what happens to her. But he also said it's so hard to break up with her so maybe now he is slowly changing his mind. He problably still thinks he has nothing to offer her. He's just starting his new business and things will probably be rocky for awhile. He doesn't want her to have that burden plus he has to take care of Minji and Sunchun still. He's in turmoil and it always shows on his face when he's around her.
More heartache but good stuff is also coming up soon! I love it when Minchul shows his confidence with his take charge personality. And he will take charge of Yonsoo. So Sunjae can call it a day...and night. Minchul's the one to have around when you need a strong shoulder to lean on. And he won't let Yonsoo down this time.

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Good Morning BD,
After Narae spills the beans to Minchul, he never goes back to his party. He couldn't. He just received the most devastating news that he couldn't even imagine. I don't know what he expected but I doubt it was that the woman he loves might die.
Next we see Minchul on a subway train standing deep in thought. He may as well be the only one on board because he's oblivious to his surroundings. He's staring at the window, not looking out but remembering Narae's words. Yonsoo has chronic leukemia that may turn acute at anytime. Yonsoo really loves him and if he knew that and this foolish girl doesn't want to hurt him. Narae begs him to save her.
The look on Minchul's face never changes during the whole subway ride. Stop after stop he remains standing and never moves an inch. He has a fixed stare on his face and his world has just collapsed. He's ends up being the last passenger aboard and he's told to get off at the end of the run. Minchul walks off slowly with a look of stunned sadness.
I wonder if he's thinking that if she dies, he'll never see her again and he knows how he will feel if that happens. Maybe he's thinking of all the time he wasted breaking up with Yonsoo. Is he realizing that his problems couldn't even compare to what Yonsoo's going through now? Is he thinking along those lines?
He must have a lot of regrets for the night Yonsoo got drunk. When she kissed him he wouldn't kiss her back. When she talked about what they would look like when they grew old. How she sat outside his building all through the night waiting for him to come out. How she was desperate for him. How she wanted to do things that she never did before. He knows why she was acting that way now. That night must be haunting him and he's probably feeling guilty.
There's no doubt that Minchul will be by her side once again, he'd never let her go through this alone because he loves her. The thing that bothered me is he was having a grand opening party for his new business and things were looking up finally for him yet he didn't seek Yonsoo out. Was he going to stay broken up with her? I think he still thought she could do better than him because he had too much baggage from the homefront. Everyday he's reminded of it when he sees his father. And he has to support his father now. It didn't matter that Yonsoo didn't care, he did.
That elevator scene was the saddest thing. I think when he stepped inside with that look on his face and held her, he wasn't going to fight it anymore, he was taking her back. I have no doubt. But he's too late.

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Good Morning BD Family
Jasy, I agree with you. That elevator scene was the saddest. He was just standing there deep in thought, trying to process what just happened between them. I know he was still wondering what happened to her, to make her so resolved in letting him go. When he looks up and realizes the elevator hasn't moved, he probably knows she forgot to push the button. When the doors open and he sees her silently weeping, for a second he has a look on his face like, "Awww". He sees that its all an act and he was right, she's trying to look stronger than she feels.
I loved the way he moved right in, without thought to what it meant for him to do it. He was so sad. I think he realized how much she's hurting and how brave she's trying to be for his sake. When he grabs her to him, he still has no idea of the enormity of her sacrifice in letting him go. I feel he thinks its because he has so much on his plate already, like he's told her so many times. He has no clue as to why she's determined to let him go. As many times as he's rejected her, she's never given up on him, why now? Does he really believe its because of his decision to break up and she's trying to live with that decision, no matter how hard it is for her? I don't think so, or why would he grill Narae?
Bless Narae for doing the right thing! He needed to know the truth. Like Narae said, he'd go crazy later knowing he could have been there for her. I also agree that what he's going through without her, doesn't compare to what she's got up ahead. After hearing this, everything that seemed important to him was not. His problems, his pride, no longer were even considered. This young girl, whom he loved, might die. Everything else in his life seemed miniscule in comparison.
That subway ride was something. He was in shock, but by the time he stepped off of that train, he knew what he had to do. My good and beautiful Min Chul. I'm sure that during that ride, he was going over recent events. Her being drunk and wanting him to tell her, just once, that he loved her. It was so unlike her to ask that. His standing like a statue, while she kissed him. He thought it was better to show her there was no hope for them, than to do what he wanted to do, kiss her back. The bus ride, when he put his cheek on her head, so lovingly. That's all he would allow himself. All because of a failed business and a crummy, guilty father. Poor Min Chul, how misguided!
I think to him, starting his new business was not enough for him to think he was worthy of her. His future was still shaky and he still felt he had nothing to offer her. So much pride, too much pride. This girl grew up in an orphanage. She wasn't looking for a big house and fancy cars. Her dream was to live with the man she loves and to have children and to paint every day. He could fulfill her dream. It was his dream for her that got in the way. She was fine with a simple life with him in the picture. That's all she wanted. She wanted to be with him. His circumstances were not even considered by her. Only Min Chul thought it was important.
What's coming up is very gratifying. Finally!! I'm going to watch the rest of this and come back to talk about it. Good things right around the corner!
I'll be back.

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Good Morning BD Family
I thought today I'd start with a picture. Nice, huh?
That must've been some train ride for Min Chul. Narae's words are running through his head. "She has chronic leukemia. It may turn acute at any time." He's so shocked and crushed he doesn't realize he's the only passenger left on the train. Finally at the last stop, he's asked to leave. He looks devastated as he walks away.
Sun Jae and Sena return from a date. Sena is all aglow. Sena, being Sena, rubs it in to Yon Soo that he insisted on going to a concert. Like Yon Soo cares!! If she knew the truth, would she be gloating? She's acting like Yon Soo lost Sun Jae to her. Sun Jae plays his part in their little farce. So annoying!!
Once alone, Sena shares with her how he told her he was sorry he wronged her and he won't make her suffer again. She says, she doesn't know why he's doing this, maybe he feels bad for her, or maybe its his way of getting over Yon Soo. She says it doesn't matter either way.
Narae's afraid to go home after telling Min Chul the truth. She finds Min Chul sitting on a ledge near her house. His head is down, deep in thought. He's probably waiting for her. She asks if he's seen Yon Soo. He says he hasn't. She admits she was afraid to go home. Yon Soo's going to be furious with her for telling him. He asks her not to let Yon Soo know, that he knows. He says he just wants her to smile now. There's plenty of time for sadness later. Narae agrees. He's demolished and it shows in his eyes.
Yon Soo is straightening up the art studio, when he shows up. He just stands there for a couple of minutes and looks at her. Such sad eyes!! Love too, there's love in his eyes too. He starts to help her to stack stools. She looks up at him in shock, he gives her this smile. She asks what he's doing there. He says he was in the area. He asks if she's done teaching. "Let's go eat." She says she doesn't want to. She's still trying to act tough. What a waste of time. He takes her by the arm and says "Let's go." She resists and they wind up face to face. Their bodies and faces are very close. He's looking her in the eye, not saying anything. She's looking at him, not knowing what to do. Finally, he says, "Let's go." again. She stops fighting. Just as well. She wouldn't have won, once his mind was made up and his mind was made up.
They're at a fish market, picking out the fish they'd have for lunch. He's all casual and she's still examining his face for a clue. I just love this guy and his take charge attitude.
They're sitting across from each other, he's eating, she's not. He reaches over and puts her spoon in her hand. He puts food on her spoon. She's still looking at him for answers. I don't think he's spoken yet. He just took over, like its the most natural thing in the world for them to be here together. He tells her to eat. He tells her that someone did that for him once and it was delicious. She finally speaks up and asks why he's doing this to her? She doesn't get him. She reminds him that he said breaking up with her was super hard and that he can't go through it again, so why is he doing this? Min Chul has continued eating through all of this, again the most natural thing in the world. She tells him she's going to end it the way he wants her to, so why is he doing this?
Finally he speaks. He tells her he gave up trying to get over her. He realized its not going to happen. He says, its foolish to try something that's not going to happen. From now on, he'll follow his heart. She says its too late. He says, its not too late. He's so arrogant here, but I love him for it. He tells her it was him who wanted to break up and he had reason to do so, but now he doesn't want to anymore. He asks, that's enough, right? She says its not that simple. He can't have everything his way. NO??? HE CAN'T??? This is Min Chul here. He's calling the shots. He looks her in the eye and tells her, "I know you. You'll end up abiding by my decision." he has this beautiful, loving look on his face and tells her, "Because you love me, you'll end up taking me back, no matter how many times we break up." He's so confident of that fact. He's got ME convinced. He tells her, "Do as I say." She's still looking at him in wonder. He tells her, "You're the only one for me." He looks at her with that look that says it all. She's his and he's her's. What's to talk about? He tells her to hurry up and eat, they have a lot to do today. He continues eating, like all of this is normal. She hasn't eaten yet and is still looking at him. He finally picks up her hand and puts the food in her mouth. She still doesn't know why he's doing this, but I'm sure she has some sort of clue.
This scene says so much to me. First, you can only get away with what Min Chul does here, if the love is there on BOTH sides. All of Sun Jae's wheedling and whining would never help him to get closer to Yon Soo. She loves Min Chul. When Min Chul takes over he's allowed to, because he loves Yon Soo and that love is returned. His calling the shots in that confident self assured manner speaks to this. Of course she's going to let him. Even though she was resolved to let him go, she can't resist him and his love for her. Sun Jae has to date her sister, just to be able to be in her immediate vicinity. Min Chul is right to think his tactics would work. "Because you love me and no matter how many times we break up, you'll end up taking me back." I almost cried when he said that. I don't know why, but it touched my heart. And, of course he's right.
A lot more great scenes coming up, but I'll go now and come back.

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Good Morning,
The good scenes are coming up now but then again, there's always good scenes between Minchul and Yonsoo. When Minchul went to the art studio to see Yonsoo and told her let's eat and she resisted, did you notice when he grabbed her arm he pulled her real close to him? Loved that scene. He wasn't about to take no for an answer. I don't blame her for being confused, do you? He's done an about face with no explanation. He's going to have to make himself clear.
I loved the scene where they sit down to eat. Minchul has her so confused she can't eat. All she can do is look at him. He acts as though this outing is just a continuation of their relationship, as though nothing has happened in between. He doesn't feel the need to explain himself. He'll follow his heart, that's all. This is his take charge confidence at work and it works for him. She loves him.
Minchul tells her it was his idea to break up but now he doesn't want to anymore. I thought it was cute when he said that. Remember, this was a guy with few words who had a hard time expressing his emotions. But he's still the Minchul who calls the shots just like you said smoochie. He's made his decision and he needn't explain. She's the only woman for him. LOL The oldest line in the book but it works for him. And it's true.
Yes it's true, it only works for Minchul. All of Sunjae's begging and pleading and making deals with her never brought her closer to him and she never did what he said. Not in the way he wanted her to do. She never returned his love even in her desperate alone state and she didn't go to the hospital no matter how many times Sunjae asked her or offered to go with her. She wrote in her journal that she wished there was someone she could tell her feelings to and though Sunjae was around her then, it could never be him. No matter how alone and scared she felt, he wasn't the one.
Only Minchul could fill those shoes. When he told her to do as he says, I felt a little of her burden lighten up. He's the only one who can make her heart happy again despite her illness. All he has to do is be beside her.
I think Sunjae did a great disservice to her by not telling Minchul she was sick. This was a not a time to compete for her love, her illness could turn acute any moment. Sunjae knew that she loved Minchul and why didn't it ever cross his mind that if Minchul was with her it would help ease her sadness somewhat? Is Sunjae that selfish?
Sunjae knew Minchul broke it off with her so he didn't want Minchul to know anything about her now, even the fact that she could die. Who is this Sunjae anyway? He grew up with Minchul and he should know above anything else that Minchul is a good man and takes responsibility (Minji) when needed. And even if Sunjae had doubts about Minchul, they should have been put to rest when Minchul asked him point blank if Yonsoo was sick. I'll always hate the fact how Sunjae tried to take over Yonsoo's life and decided who she can't see.
More good scenes are coming up. He spends a fun day with Yonsoo and he even takes pictures with her in a booth. Remember those .25 picture booths smoochie? I still have all my little pictures taken in NYC way back when. The faces we made!! LOL
I like the pictures smoochie, thanks.
I'll be back...

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Good Morning BD Family
Yes, I still have some of those pictures. Horrifying!! What was with the hairdo??!! I would've killed someone who told me I didn't look good. And my poor mother had no say at that age. I was all teased up and ready to go.
I'm still thinking about Yon Soo telling Min Chul that its too late and his answer. "No, its not too late. I was the one who wanted to break up and I had reason why I must do so, but now I don't want to anymore. That's enough, right?" He says that in such an offhand manner, that if she didn't love him so much, it could've made her crazy. He's so matter of fact, that it almost makes sense. There was a time she'd have been overjoyed to hear those words, but now... She was so miserable without him and so scared and here he is taking it all back, so nonchalantly. At least that's how it seemed. Of course we know better.
In the next scene they're at a movie theatre. Min Chul said they had a lot to do today and he meant it. He tells her this is the first time they're seeing a movie together. In fact, come to think of it, they've never been on a normal date. From now on they should do everything couples do, "So we won't regret it when we get old." Right here, he's making a promise that they WILL grow old. He's got the tickets, he says. The popcorn's her treat. He's not rich anymore, he tells her. He's smiling and its like he's accepted this fact.
They're watching a movie. I guess its supposed to be a comedy, because he's trying to laugh, where he's supposed to. Yon Soo still has that look on her face and is watching him. He's eating popcorn and seems to be into the movie. She finally takes her eyes off of him, when he passes the popcorn to her. She takes a piece and tries to take another piece, but he moves the bucket away from her. She tries again, but he's moved it out of her reach. He seems unaware of her and what he's doing, but he's not. He puts his arm around her and pulls her head to his shoulder. She resists. He does it again, until her head is where he wants it. His hand is cradling her head. Holding her like this, he reaches down and kisses her on the forehead, once, twice, three times. He goes back to watching the screen, except I'd bet big money, he has no idea what he's watching.
Yon Soo is silently crying. His eyes are full of tears. They've stayed in the same position, him holding her head to him, his cheek resting on it. Her poor face is all scrunched up, as she cries without a sound. He's wiping tears from his eyes, while he laughs in all of the right places.
As much as I tried, I could never do this scene justice. You just had to be there. There are a lot of good scenes between these two, but this one stands above the rest. The love and commitment from Min Chul jumps right out at you. The fear, sadness and love are right there in Yon Soo's face. Not one word was spoken and it was all there. The actors in this scene, above all others, were breathtaking. Like I said, I could never so it justice. It was outstanding!!
I agree that Sun Jae did them both a disservice in not telling Min Chul about her illness. He knows him well enough to know why he broke up with her. Min Chul isn't flighty. He didn't leave her because he stopped loving her. Sun Jae knows this, but decided that it was a good time to get closer to Yon Soo and keep him away from her. So Selfish!!! Like that could work!! When Min Chul out and out asked him, his answer was, that if Min Chul couldn't help her, he should mind his own business. Or words to that effect. How could Sun Jae help her? More than Min Chul? You're right, when she needed someone to talk to it could never be Sun Jae and he was right there. She wouldn't talk to Narae, because she didn't want to alarm her any further and Sena was out of the question. She needed Min Chul. So great that Narae knew that and took steps to fix it.
Just a couple of more scenes in this episode and they're good too. This drama on the whole is very good. I'm happy we're doing this.
I have to go now, but I'll be back.
Later
See for yourselves.
So heartbreaking!!
