Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Good Morning BD Family
Its 7 degrees here in New York City, right now. I hope it warms up to at least 12 degrees. We're having some crummy weather here for the past couple of weeks, but its winter after all.
Yon Soo has been afraid and feeling hopeless up until now, but all of that has changed since Min Chul has come back into her life. She wants to fight back. She has a more positive attitude and she tells him she wants to experience everything now, that they can do things together. She's gotten her spirit back and its visible. She feels everything will be alright.
They walk home together and once there, its hard to let go. Min Chul doesn't want to go home. He's very cute here, like a little kid, not wanting to, but knowing he has to. She tells him to go. He starts to walk away, when he hears her make a sound. He's back in an instant. She's having a nosebleed. He hands her his handkerchief and finds her keys.
They're in her room, sitting on her bed and the bleeding has stopped. He's looking worried and asks her if she's okay? She says, she is. She's feeling sorry, because they had a perfect day until this. She says, she should have sent him home sooner. He still has that scared look on his face. She tells him not to look at her with those eyes, there'll be more such occurrences. She tells him, she'll feel sad if he looks at her like that. He gets the message and looks around and tells her this is the first time he's been in her room. She's embarrassed and says its a mess and starts to move to straighten it up. He stops her and says its okay. He looks around again and says he doesn't see the photo they took. He asks shouldn't she have it somewhere prominent? She says she wants to, but Sena and Narae... He says they wouldn't mind. He tells her to give him the photo and he'll put it on the wall. She opens the drawer and he reaches in and takes it out. He smiles at the sight of the framed picture. He looks around for the perfect place for it and finally puts it on her nightstand. He tells her to say "Goodnight" to him before she goes to sleep.
Their faces are side by side looking at the picture. She's smiling, as he turns and kisses her on the cheek. He hugs her to him and she hugs him back. They stay like that for a moment. Finally, he tells her to get some rest. She tells him she's okay. You can see, she doesn't want this day to end. Its really nice to see. He puts her down on the bed and for a moment his body is hovering over her's, his arms extended. They look at each other for a moment. That must have been very tempting. But, he flips himself over and they're lying side by side. He sighs. He tells her, "This is a problem. I don't want work, go home or do anything at all. I just want to stay with you all day." What problem??? I don't see a problem!! They're lying there looking up, when he turns to look at her and puts his arm under her head and pulls her closer. He turns toward her and pulls her so their bodies are facing each other. He's hugging her to him and she's not resisting. Would I?? Not on your life!! They stay like that for a while.
The next sound you hear will be Narae saying, "Yon Soo, I'm home." BUMMER!!! They jump apart, like two teenagers caught in the act. Min Chul is funnier to watch, than she is for some reason. We never expect to see him in this position. He's much too cool for this, but that was the old Min Chul. This Min Chul is on his feet in a flash. Narae realizes what she's walked in on, pushes him back down on the bed and tells him to stay, she has to go back out, she was about to leave. He jumps up again, and again she pushes him back down and tells him to stay. He says he should go. He gets his shoes and is leaving, but comes back in a second. He forgot his phone and on the way out whispers goodnight to Yon Soo.
Narae goes straight into action. She's all smiles and asks Yon Soo if they've gotten back together. Yon Soo nods, yes. Narae asks why she didn't say so? Does she know how worried she was about her? Yon Soo takes her hand and says "Thank you." She tells Narae, if it weren't for her she'd have lost him for good. She'd really have suffered from being heartsick. Narae thanks her for saying that. She admits she worried that telling him might make her suffer all the more. Yon Soo says she won't think too deeply into things. Even if what he's feeling is more pity than love, she'll ignore it. Because, she's just too happy. Narae agrees, her being happy is all that matters. She shouldn't think about anything else.
She spots the picture and asks when it was taken. She thinks the two of them look awesome together. Then she asks what they were doing when she came in? Yon Soo doesn't answer. She asks, "Making out? Did you like it?"
This was a very sweet part of this episode. Min Chul, with all he has going on in his life, has committed to add Yon Soo to the rest of it. He didn't just add her to the list, he put her on top of the list. She's his top priority!! You don't do that out of pity. Yon Soo's way off the mark here. Min Chul loves her. And when did he get so verbal? Being able to say and do things, he'd never have been able to say and do before. That happened to him, when he let down his guard and put Yon Soo before himself. He can afford to let her in now. His misguided sense of pride is gone now. She needs him, even broke and struggling to start his own business, and living with his undeserving father, (that's done out of pity), and taking care of Min Ji. Without the fancy car, or the money, or the big house, or the company, Yon Soo needs him. Too bad he had to see her suffer an ugly illness to come to this, but better late than never, as they say. He's there for the long haul. He's left every bit of stupid pride by the wayside. My good Min Chul!! My sweet Min Chul!!
There's still a lot more to this episode, but I didn't want to spoil it with the next scene. This one deserved to be on its own.
I love this drama and hate to see it coming closer to the end. I'd like to see way into their future, but I'll just use my imagination, which is pretty good.
I have to go now, but I'll be back.

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Good Morning BD,
Count me in, I love that scene too, it's one of my very favorites and I've watched it over and over too. Is Minchul cute or what? It was oh so innocent lying side by side until Narae walks in. Then the guilt set in. So funny! Yes, they both acted like teenagers caught in the act by mommy.
It was the funniest thing to see. Minchul jumps up so fast and is off the bed before you can count to one. Yonsoo flutters around the bed and begins smoothing out the blankets. The look on her face! So comical! She looks like she got caught with her hand in the cookie jar! LBH did his part so well that it was real, it couldn't have been acted out any better if he tried. Narae was so cute here and didn't skip a beat either. She's a quick thinker. Without skipping a beat she pushes Minchul back onto the bed. Minchul resists and jumps off. She pushes him back. After Minchul leaves, Narae gets a twinkle in her eye and asks Yonsoo if she liked it. Everyone would like to have a mom like Narae.
I loved the part when Minchul is looking at their picture and he tells Yonsoo to say goodnight to him every night. That was the cutest thing. I don't blame Yonsoo for saying she's going for it even if he's doing this out of pity, even though it isn't pity but love. Yonsoo just loves him so much and he has made her smile. She's now got this guy lock, stock and barrel and she must know that Minchul will never let her go now.
Everytime these intimate scenes come up between Minchul and Yonsoo, they're always played out so perfectly and I'll think this is the best so far. I've been saying that thoughout this whole drama. I realize that it takes really good actors to pull it off and make it real and that's what LBH and CJW do here. They play off each other just perfectly.
There are more good things to come along with the bad. Sunjae will stick his nose in Yonsoo's door once again convincing her she's helpless in taking care of herself. For my part, I'd rather just concentrate on Minchul and Yonsoo.

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Hello BD Family
Sorry to be missing in action, but here I am.
Yes, I agree these actors, LBH/CJW play really well against each other. Each one of their intimate scenes is amazing. Not only the sweet, love scenes, but even the breakup scenes. One that was heart wrenching was when Min Chul waits for Yon Soo outside of the art studio. She spots him from the bus and gets off. The scene when they went for coffee. You know the one? That scene was so brilliant, without any overacting and chewing of the scenery. Just brilliant!! Full of emotion.
The airport scene. Another of their most touching scenes. Another example of fine acting between these two. These actors are on the money with their performances. I could go on, but I won't.
That last heartwarming scene was great, but with the good we also have to take the bad. Yon Soo must've called Sun Jae the next day to administer her medication. Knock!! Knock!! And in he goes!! No privacy in Kdrama. He tells her he's making a house call. He has this attitude of entitlement as he flops down on her bed. A bed that she's still in, by the way.
She gets him her medication and he sees the picture of her and Min Chul on her nightstand. He doesn't say anything, but he can't be a happy camper. He gets the injection ready and tells he how she can't do it herself. The fact that the nurse told her how to do it herself, means nothing. She tells him it looked easy at the hospital, but she got scared to do it. Not anyone can do it, he tells her, so she can't do it. She has to let him do it. "Got it?" He says that way he has an excuse to see her.
Throughout this whole drama he's had delusions of Yon Soo being a delicate flower who would wilt and die without his protection. Where did he get this idea? Delusional!! It serves his purpose to see her this way. Couldn't she be a strong, self assured woman and still like him? Does he need her to be a weakling in order for her to depend on him and only him? He's trying hard to make Yon Soo see herself that way. To me it means he's got a real self esteem and insecurity problem. He needs a shrinking violet, so that he can look like a big man. This says to me that Sun Jae couldn't have a relationship with an adult, independent woman.
Min Chul has never treated her this way. He knows what she's capable of. He needed her, not the other way around. He saw her kind and warm heart and that's what he needed. He didn't want her to be any other way, but how she was. If he wants to tend to her needs at this point, its because HE loves her and doesn't want to see her suffer. He wants to be there for her, because SHE loves him and he knows she'll be happier with him. He's not trying to get anything out of this. He's responding to her illness. This was not their way of life, before this, even when she was well. This is what she needs from him right now and he's giving it to her. He's giving her hope. And he's making her smile. He's not blackmailing her for his own selfish agenda. He doesn't need an agenda, she already loves him.
I'm going to stop here. I know what's coming up and I really can't talk about Sena, except to say they really didn't pull the wool over her eyes.
I'll be back.

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Good Morning,
Kwong Sang Woo's wedding was a private affair so all these shots we've seen were taken from above by the press. And there they are, standing side by side in a private moment. I think there's more to this than meets the eye too. You saw that birthday clip of them smoochie and how they both acted. It was all out there in the open and it didn't get lost on the camera man either. LOL
The scene where Sunjae administers the shot to Yonsoo disturbs me a lot. You could say he's only too glad to be needed by her and you'd be right. He likes the fact that she's helpless without his help and he admits it. He still wants to be near her regardless of what he told Minchul at the hospital. He's dug deep into the barrel now in order to still be close to her and he's game. Any which way he can be near her, he'll go for it. Instead of encouraging her that she can do it herself if she tries, he discourages her more than she already is by telling her she can't do it. I thought Sunjae gave up being with Yonsoo during his lecture to Minchul at the hospital when in fact he's still hovering around. He gets to see her this way. He could have given her confidence like Minchul does and showed her how with her trying it. He wants to be around her? Do it when Minchul is there. Better still, get a life!
I can never see Sunjae as a protector of Yonsoo or anybody else. Everything he's done was for his own benefit. When he was home, he didn't have enough guts to stand up to his father about his music. He would never stand up for himself against their father like Minchul was able to do. He wouldn't protect his own mother when she was hitting bottom and he's been a coward to Sena for the longest time. I can't see this guy as anybody's protector. The only thing he has going for himself now is he knows how to give a shot. That's his last ace and he plays it for all it's worth. Yonsoo is scared and I understand that so it's logical that she called him. But it's too bad that Sunjae didn't call Minchul and tell him to meet him at Yonsoo's and he'll show them both how to do it. That would have been the right thing to do.
I'll be back to talk about Sena whether I want to or not. I got the hint smoochie. LOL

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Good Morning BD,
Sena finally finds out the truth about Yonsoo's condition and it's only because she walked in on Sunjae while he was giving the injection to Yonsoo. Nice way to find out. I don't care what the reason was to keep her in the dark and by who, it's a terrible way to find out and very disrespectful.
Sena walks in with Narae and catches Sunjae in the act. I use the word "catches" because it describes exactly how Sena finds out. It was a secret kept from her. She rushes to the the bed and sees the injection kit and asks Sunjae what was that injection for. She is told but we don't see that part. The next scene is Sena sitting outside looking up at the sky and crying. She's remembering the past with Yonsoo and she's very sad.
Sena remembers when she and Yonsoo were kids and Yonsoo gave her the ring on the chain while putting it around her neck. She hears Yonsoo's words that she's giving it to her so she'd be less lonely. Then Sena thinks to the present and how she told Yonsoo in a bad moment that it was SHE who made her the loneliest person on earth.
Sena thinks about the day when Yonsoo left her for the very first time when she was still a young kid and remembers running after Yonsoo's bus, crying for her in despair. And she remembers the present and how she told Yonsoo she didn't need the pendant or her, she in fact didn't need anything.
Sena's head is in her lap and she's still crying when Sunjae walks up to her. He gently touches her shoulder and tells her to look at him. She won't. He sits in front of her and then she looks at him teary eyed and asks him what does he want to say? She's very angry and rightly so. She asks if he came to tell her to be nice to a sick person? She's figured it all out. She thought it was strange that he was being so nice to her. She asks him if it was Yonsoo's last wish, for him to be nice to her? She hit the nail on the head. She's right. Sena says since Yonsoo is Miss Angel, she's capable.
Sunjae asks her if she feels better talking that way. He tells her he knows how she feels and she's being sarcastic because she's hurting for Yonsoo. Sena thinks it's ironic. He ignored her feelings all this time but now he sounds as if he knows her by heart. Sunjae says he always knew, he just pretended not to know. He says he might understand her best because she and him have similar feelings. He tells her she tries to turn away but never can and she tries to discard it but never can.
Sunjae wipes her tears then holds her face in his hands (what he won't do for Yonsoo!) While up close to Sena he wishes aloud that she'd treat Yonsoo kindly, not for Yonsoo's sake but for her sake. That way she won't have any regrets. He tells her she and Yonsoo shared many years so the regret will be much greater. Sena asks what good is the past, this is all the past. She lowers her head and cries and Sunjae leans his forehead against hers.
Sena goes back inside and sits on the bed facing Yonsoo. Yonsoo grabs her hand but Sena pushes her away. She asks Yonsoo why she got sick? Tears are falling and she yells at Yonsoo asking her who gave her the right to get sick? Yonsoo begins to cry and grabs Sena in a hug. Sena holds onto Yonsoo too and she cries in her sister's arms.
Minchul comes home to a darkened house, everyone's already asleep. He looks exhausted as he sits on the couch, leaning his head against the wall and closes his eyes. He quickly opens his eyes and takes his phone from his pocket and calls Yonsoo. Narae answers. Minchul asks where's Yonsoo? Narae says she's sleeping and has a high fever. She tells him it's a side effect of the medications and it's supposed to get better so not to worry too much. Narae tells him good night and he says "you too." Minchul hangs the phone up and sits there in deep thought.
The next day...Yonsoo's art class is over and her students are leaving. While she's saying her good-byes, Minchul is standing in the doorway waiting for the last student to leave. Minchul then walks in. With one hand in his pocket he comes up behind a sitting Yonsoo. (I love this scene) Yonsoo never sees him walk in.
Standing behind Yonsoo, Minchul places one hand on her forehead feeling for fever. He then bends down so the side of his face is touching hers. With his hand still on her forehead, he gently rocks her back and forth asking at the same time if she's alright? Yonsoo smiles and nods her head. Minchul puts his hands on her shoulders still from behind but now he looks directly at her and tells her he has somewhere to go, "will you consider coming with me?"
Their music begins...and they're outside. Hand in hand with Minchul slightly ahead of her and leading her, they being running through the streets. Minchul looks very determined as he runs and quick smiles appear on his face as he glances at her now and then. Meanwhile, a bewildered Yonsoo tries to keep up the pace while stealing quick glances of her own at him and all the while she's wondering where he's taking her.
I have to say one thing. It's never boring with Minchul. He must have sat there all night after he heard she had a fever and came to the conclusion that there's no point in just dating, he wants to marry his Yonsoo and the sooner the better for both of them. He knows they don't have time to waste so why waste it? He is really very romantic towards her. Remember when he said he was getting good at this stuff? He was right. But besides all that, Minchul would do anything for her, anything to make her smile and be happy. He promised. Remember when he told her to leave everything up to him? He's a man of his words.

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Good Morning BD Family
The scene you described made me say, "Awww". So Min Chul! He wants to be there when she's sick from her medication and has a fever. I think he's just beginning to know the effect this illness is having on her and he wants to be at her side through it, all of it.
I think it was Yon Soo's decision to keep Sena in the dark and Sun Jae is happy to go along with this. It gives him the opportunity to be the only one who's in the know. If Narae hadn't been at the hospital and seen her getting a blood transfusion, she wouldn't have been in on it either. If she'd never found out, Min Chul would have never known. Sun Jae must be sorry Narae ever knew the truth.
Sena's reaction is so Sena. Anger and sadness all mixed together. She's remembering Yon Soo leaving her at the orphanage. She reflects on how horribly she's treated Yon Soo. She doesn't know how to feel. She's not used to being nice to Yon Soo and now she knows she may lose her to this illness.
Sun Jae coming along at the right time and all of a sudden having all of that insight into Sena was a little trite. He did say all of the right things, though. Asking her to be kind to Yon Soo for her own sake was right on the money. Imagine her having to know, if something happened to her, the last things she said were mean? Even when she went back to Yon Soo she didn't know how to make amends properly, but her heart was in the right place. Yon Soo knows Sena and knows this.
It was interesting how close to the truth Sena was when she said that he made a deal to be nice to her for the sake of a dying Yon Soo. Not so dumb, that Sena. This girl had no real education, but she has street smarts and she did hit the nail right on the head. I was impressed by her figuring the whole thing out. Of course Sun Jae didn't admit this, why would he?
The scene where Min Chul comes into the studio and quietly puts his hand on her forehead was very touching, like a lot of their scenes are. First he wanted to see for himself that her fever was gone. I think her being ill from the medication and him not being there sealed the deal for him. He realized that things were happening to her and he wasn't there to help her through it. He has to be very grateful that he's got someone like Narae with her, but that's not enough. It has to be him and nobody else. Unlike Sun Jae, its not a selfish motive, its for Yon Soo. He's not trying to gain points. She belongs to him and its his place to be beside her. He promised her.
I'm going to watch the next sene again, because it deserves it. I want to do it justice when I talk about it.
I'm going now, but I'll be back.
Later
A little bit of LBH. It always makes me happy.
