Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)

I just popped in for a minute to read your posts. I saw the pic of the rolled up jeans and cowboy boots and then.... Smoochie's comment about the feet size. I laughed so hard because....

In an episode of Destiny, Hosae is running down the street. I commented how odd he looked running, like his feet were too big.

In a later episode I see why. He is standing at a bridge, about to scream in frustration into the Han River, and for some reason the camera panned down to his feet. He had on boots and the front of the boots were on a small ledge and I swear the boots were folded practically in half!! He had on boots that were like 3 sizes too big for him.

OMG, after reading your comment on LBH's feet size, I had this picture in my mind of my beloved Hosae. LOL

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)

Good Morning BD,

Minji's in her bedroom sitting on the floor in front of her table and she's busy designing Minchul and Yonsoo's wedding invitation. She thinks for a moment and then writes "We request the honor of your presence at Mr. Lee Min-chul and Miss Kim Yon-soo's beautiful wedding..." Just then, and unannounced, Minchul swings her door wide open. No warning, no knock. Minchul always the big brother, is checking up on his little sister. He sees her hide something behind her back. It's the invitation she's working on. He never invades her privacy by asking her what she's hiding though. She gives him a little smile as he stands in the doorway looking at her. He never says a word. Minchul has a somewhat satisfied look on his face and then he closes the door. I love this part of him, the big brother/father figure towards his little sister.

At the same time, Yonsoo and Narae are home washing the dishes together. Yonsoo clearly has something on her mind. She stops washing and stands there with a dish in her hands thinking. Narae picks up on it and asks Yonsoo if she regrets turning Minchul down. Yonsoo says she doesn't regret it. Narae tells her she looks like a little kid whose lollipop has been taken away and she looks like a little poor kid. Narae decides they should go out because they'll feel depressed sitting at home. Yonsoo doesn't want to go out but she's dealing with the headstrong Narae. She bodily moves Yonsoo away from the sink and tells her to get ready.

Yonsoo and Narae end up standing in front of a bridal shop. Coincidence? I don't think so. Right away a beautiful wedding gown in the window catches Yonsoo's eye and she stands there taking in the beauty of it. Narae never missing a beat asks Yonsoo if they should try some on? Yonsoo's like, "what?" Narae's plan is now in motion. She tells Yonsoo that she doesn't think she'll ever get proposed to and Yonsoo turned down a proposal so they won't get to wear one anytime soon. Narae just wants to try them on for fun.

Narae, bless her heart, pulls Yonsoo inside. The first thought of Yonsoo's after stepping inside the store is that the gowns are too expensive. Narae tells her not to worry, they'll just try them on. The saleslady welcomes them and asks if she can help find a dress. Narae says yes. Then the woman wants to know who the bride is. Narae puts her arm around Yonsoo and tells her they both are, they're getting married on the same day. LOL

And there they stand, both in beautiful wedding gowns. Yonsoo of course is wearing the one that caught her eye in the window. They're in front of the mirrors now and look at each other giggling. Such a cute scene.

Narae asks Yonsoo if she looks gorgeous. Yonsoo says she does. Narae looks at Yonsoo and tells her she looks hot. She checks Yonsoo's gown on her and tells her this one suits her best. And Yonsoo falls for it and says she likes it the best. So this gown has now been chosen to be Yonsoo's wedding gown, only Yonsoo doesn't know it yet. Narae tells Yonsoo this is a Kodak moment, so she counts to three and they both pose smiling cheek to cheek after which they giggle some more.

After a few moment of that, Yonsoo comes back to her reality. She has the saddest look on her face and Narae notices. She tells Yonsoo why don't they do the walk? They both turn around and side by side with Yonsoo's hand in Narae's raised hand, and Narae begins humming the wedding march. They begins to pretend marching down the aisle. When they get to the end of the dressing platform they're standing on, Narae's humming takes on a different tune and she breaks into a fast dance. She's made Yonsoo laugh!

Narae turns to Yonsoo and holds her hands. She tells her she looks heavenly and grabs her head and kisses her on the forehead and gives her a big hug. What a wonderful friend Narae is. She tells Yonsoo she looks angelic and Yonsoo tells her she does too. They each do one final turn so the other can see the gown one last time. Yonsoo tells Narae she looks beautiful. And she does.

Everything is moving along perfectly now with Narae's plan for Yonsoo and Minchul's wedding. Yonsoo has selected her gown and tried it on. Who would have thought?

I assume it's the next day because Yonsoo is standing outside the doors of a building and it's raining. She hesitates on the steps and just then, an umbrella is over her head. She turns and guess who???? It's Sunjae!!!! He has a plan of his own and it doesn't involve Minchul, only him and Yonsoo. Is this weasel ever going to go away? Hasn't he gotten a life yet?

That's funny about the boots nsheldon. There is a difference though, LBH's boots fit. LOL I've read a few reviews where it's being said that "Hosae" is a bad actor and that the actress playing his wife should have never been put opposite him because he's much too old for her. The hugging scenes between the two of them are very awkward looking also it was said. And now, he even looks odd running? LOL These two along with Mrs. Kang are the reason I'm turned off on this drama. Nsheldon, I know you have real hunks on your hottie list...

Smoochie, Sunjae is next...your turn!

Good Morning BD Family emoticon

Jasy, that's just WRONG!! You know I'm going to be mean!! Emceema's going to come on and tell me I'm bad for reaming Sun Jae again. But, I'm a big girl and I'm sure I can handle it. emoticon

Nsheldon, Jasy's right LBH fills boots all the way to the tip. If I were a young girl, I'd have the prfect place where he could put those boots. emoticon emoticon Never mind, I'm not a young girl. emoticon

I only watch snippets of Destiny. Its gone on too long and I can't stand the lead couple anymore. The writers milked this to the point that I stopped caring about what happens next, to any of them. My favorite on this show is Taepung, from the beginning. Yi Pilmo should have had a better role. I really like him, but I think he was wasted in this. I know you love Hosae, but to me he looks like a bobblehead. He never moves his head. Could it be too big for his body? His character is much too wishy-washy. Where's Suky when Saebyoek needs a hero? In the end, Mrs Kang is going to love Saebyoek, without any input or support from Hosae. He's such a wimp. She's going to have to do all of the work herself.

I'll be back to talk about Sun Jae The Annoying! Yes, I'll bite the bullet and do the dirty deed. emoticon

This is my idea of a consummate actor. emoticon Always different! Always magnetic! emoticon emoticon

Anyeong Hasaeyo! Good morning BDF!

Smoochie: LOL! You're right. I'm here to defend (or at least give him some credits) the most hated Sunjae. In this episode, I think Sunjae is totally giving up any claim, desire or wish for Yonsoo romanticaly. But he will remain forever a friend. So, please allow him to do that. emoticon

The Narae character: I will do anything to keep a friend like that. But in my 60 some years of life, I have never found someone like her. Very caring, unselfish and devoted to Yonsoo better than that ungrateful Sena. Yonsoo has sacrificed so much for Sena but I cannot remember an episode where Yonsoo did something real especial for Narae. Could any of you remind me?

Nsheldon: About that YAMD drama, I admire your steadfast loyalty to the 8:22pm series. I have abandoned that so many episodes ago. I never liked Hosae and Sabyeok in the first place and the story was too long-winded, side stories are annoying too, especially the grandmother. Hated that grandmother.
 emoticon

Back to BD: I have to watch the last two episodes with you guys but I'm not ready to cry yet. I'm being tested this week for glaucoma and my eyes might be too strained.

Anyway, Minchul and Yonsoo will always remain as the best characters in all the k-dramas I have ever seen so far.

Lee Byung Hun is an actor with many faces. Here are a few of them. I love them all. What about you?

I'll be back in a while to go over the next scene, though I'm a little apprehensive, because I'm going to try to be fair and leave personal dislikes aside. emoticon I said, "I'm going to try". Let's see if I can pull it off, without prejudice. I know I'll hear about it if I fail. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'll be back.

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)

Good Morning BD,

I really hate to see this one come to an end. Minchul and Yonsoo along with KSW and CJW in Stairway To Heaven and Suky and Jongnam will always be my favorite characters/couples in a drama. CJW is one lucky girl. No wonder these actors and actresses don't marry young, they're having too much fun.

Emceema, I hope everything works out fine with your eye exam. And please come back for the final episodes. I get what your saying about Sunjae giving up any wish, claims or desire for Yonsoo romantically, and that is what he's doing, but really now...don't you think he's overdoing it a bit?? Does he really have to wear a suit??? A five-star restaurant? Flowers? Drinks? LOL So unSunjae like. Is he trying to impress her still? Why? He never had her in the first place. He could simply have bought hamburger takeout and bring them over to Narae's place and they could all sit around listening while Sunjae throws the bull to Yonsoo with his teary face.

Okay, so now Sunjae takes Yonsoo on a date. Did Minchul give his permission? Did Yonsoo? Did Sena? Did smoochie? What will he talk about...all the what-ifs? Is he going to tell her if it doesn't work out with Minchul, come back to me? LOL Look at me Yonsoo...you could have this if you want. I guess now in front of Yonsoo he's trying to take the high road because he knows he lost the game he was playing. This doesn't cut it for me. He's been rolling around in the gutter too long trying to get someone's else girl no matter what the feelings of the girl he was trying to get were.

To the very end Sunjae is in Yonsoo's face. He gets away with it everytime because she's too nice a person to be mean to anyone. That's why he got away with most of the bull he was pulling off. Those flowers he hands Yonsoo, that's pretty nervy of him. For Sunjae, it has always been about his feelings and always being in Yonsoo's face. Imagine dating without even asking the girl for the date in the first place and dating a girl who is already spoken for? Paying her a last time visit casually at the house with Narae and Sena present is one thing, but dressing up and taking her on a fancy dinner date is a bit much. Sunjae is not a nice guy. Does he even wonder what Minchul would think if he saw them together like this? What if Minchull happened to come by? What would Minchul think? What would Sunjae say?

I loved the wedding shop scene and how Narae got Yonsoo to try on gowns. So clever. I actually liked Narae's gown better than Yonsoo's but the one Yonsoo tried on was so Yonsoo, it fit her personality to a T. Modest, no frills and all that, but still gorgeous.

It's interesting to note that Sena has no part in these plans for her sister. I guess the writers have kept it in perspective, Sena never had these kind of moments with Yonsoo so it would look out of place for her to start now. Narae is the one who can pull anything off because she knows exactly how Yonsoo thinks. She is very much a mother hen to her throughout the drama and I'm sure if has to do with the fact that Yonsoo is an orphan and grew up motherless. That's probably why Narae became like she did with Yonsoo. Yonsoo, for her part never had a mother so she easily is able to listen to and depend on Narae.

Those pictures smoochie...LBH looks best with his hair like that, off his forehead. Great, great, great pictures! I hate when they wear their hair with bangs.

Smoochie, be nice now...

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)

Hello BD Family emoticon

Well Jasy, you opened the door that I was afraid to open and I'm going to walk right in. emoticon

I like LBH with his hair a little longer. I think that's how he wears it in real life, but you know me, I'll take him any way I can get him. emoticon

Okay, you're right! Sun Jae doesn't consult anyone about his ambush "date". This guy has no idea what Yon Soo's plans are, if any. This has been the way he's operated right from the beginning of this. He just shows up and hijacks her. He's done it many times before and has gotten away with it and so he does it again. Yon Soo looks up and there's an umbrella over her head and the hand holding it is Sun Jae's. He puts his hand on her back and as though its the most natural thing in the world says, "let's go". He leads her to a car and tells her to get in.

I have to stop here. I have an appointment. But, I PROMISE, I'll be back today to go on with this. I have too much to say to let it go at this.

Jasy, who do I dislike more, Imbeom or Sun Jae? Sun Jae!! Imbeom was really a nice guy and it could've gone either way, because Jongnam, although she loved Suky, could've actually married this guy. I was mad at Jongnam here too. I hated him for his persistance, but he had a good personality and if there was no Suky....... But, there was a Suky. So in the end he lost and I must say he was a pretty good loser. emoticon

Sun Jae on the other hand....... emoticon I'll be back to tell you the rest.

Just to clear one thing up its been said that he gave up his claim on Yon Soo. That term, "Giving up his claim", indicates that he had a claim to give up. He didn't. Only Min Chul had a claim on Yon Soo and he wasn't about to give it up. emoticon

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)

Hello BD Family emoticon

I'm back, as promised. emoticon

The problem I have with Sun Jae is not that he loves Yon Soo. Its because Yon Soo doesn't love him, but not only doesn't she love him, but she loves somebody else. His brother! When this started, he was still under the assumption that Min Chul was his brother. That never stopped him from openly and aggressively pursuing her, not ever taking into account her feelings. He always had a plan. And it was always based on guilt and pity. And he has a plan now, as well, still based on guilt and pity. emoticon

You're right Jasy, he did not ask my permission. I would have told him to take a hike and to leave Yon Soo and Min Chul alone. But, you know Sun Jae, he'd have found some underhanded way to get Yon Soo to go with him. Yon Soo, on the other hand, got in the car without asking where he's taking her.

He takes her into this elaborate private dining room, though not as elaborate as the one Min Chul reserved to announce her as his woman to Min Ji. You remember. The night that Yon Soo was a no show, because of more of Sun Jae's subterfuge. But, I digress. They sit facing each other. Yon Soo asks is this a special day? What's the occasion? He tells her to guess. SO IRRITATING!! What a jerk and so pathetic. She asks if its birthday. He shakes his head, no.

We see them eating. Is that chicken? Are they eating chicken?? He rented a private elaborate dining room so they could eat chicken?? So misguided!! emoticon Anyway. She asks him again to tell her what today is. He's a little hesitant, but that's part of his innocent, pitiful act. He tells her, "This is my last day with the one I love. There were so many things I wanted to do with her, so many places to go, things to share....But, today I bid adieu to all such thoughts." Not a second too soon in my opinion. You just want to gag!! His saying this to her was so inappropriate and out of line!! She is Min Chul's woman, whether or not Min Chul's in the picture and he is in the picture. A woman who has no romantic interest in you doesn't want to hear that!! Is that supposed to make her have second thoughts?? This guy is such a weenie!!

She's made a little uncomfortable by his declaration and says his name, as though she wanted to stop him, but he lifts his glass to toast. They toast and he still has that weepy, annoying, pitiful look on his face. He tells her to eat. Yon Soo really hasn't said much.

He drives her home. They get out and she tells him to drive carefully. He asks her to wait and out of his trunk comes a bouquet of roses. This was carefully planned out. He hands them to her and says, "Lastly, I want to give you a friendly hug." He does hug her and as he does he tells her, "You have to live." Tears are in his eyes as usual. Finally he releases her and tells her to go in. He stands there for a minute after she leaves.

Once in her house its her job to explain the roses to Narae and Sena. Narae assumes they're from Min Chul and Yon Soo lets her think so.

These two people did not break up. They were never a couple. His feelings for her were totally one sided. My question is why did there need to be a ceremony?? Why didn't he back off months ago, when he realized Yon Soo and Min Chul were a couple?? Why did he have to make a speech about it?? Another ploy to make Yon Soo feel guilty? Does he think women like pathetic men? Did he ever hear any woman say, "That guy's so pathetic and I find that so hot"? NO!!! Why does he keep playing the same tune again and again. After a while women get tired of men who won't go away. He should have gone away quietly and like a man. Jasy, I think that would've been the high road. I don't like this guy. emoticon

I don't think Min Chul would be bothered much by this if he found out. Sun Jae's on his "Pay No Mind List". I know there was a time when this would've made him very angry, because he knew what Sun Jae was up to and he didn't appreciate Yon Soo letting him get away with it. These days he knows how much she needs him and that all of the time he was away from her, Sun Jae still didn't stand a chance. He came back to her because he figured out that nobody could take his place. Sun Jae admitted that, when he told him he could never make her smile. Only Min Chul could do that and he knew it. He knows Sun Jae's no threat and never was.

Aside from all of this I don't like Sun Jae's type of man. I like a man who's confident and open and friendly. I like a man who's got it all together and can be serious and quiet, when neccessary, but who can laugh out loud over something absurd. Someone who can have fun, without looking morose and grim. I can never picture Sun Jae laughing out loud. He always has that sad little smile on his face. This guy is too soft and does nothing for me. Whiny guys who try to control me with guilt according to their own needs do nothing for me.

So this so called "date", or surprise attack was to say good-bye? Does that mean that he's going to stop showing up? Somehow I doubt it. emoticon The only thing that'll keep him away from Yon Soo is Min Chul and what's coming up. emoticon

Narae is one of my favorite characters in this drama. emoticon I love a friend like her.

I've got to go, but I'll be back. emoticon

Later emoticon

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)

Good Morning BD,

I laughed when Sunjae told Yonsoo that he had many places to take her and so many things he wanted to do with her. Isn't he ashamed to say that to her when she never liked him in the first place? He sounds so pathetic. It's like he's throwing out the bait, maybe she'll change her mind. So he has regrets? All of the time he spent with Yonsoo before she got sick he spent it whining and putting Minchul down. As if that was going to change her mind. So now he's telling her what she could've had with him. He could never have done those things with Yonsoo because she didn't like him. Everytime she was with him it was because of one problem after another. There was always an issue. He was always angry with Minchul. The times Yonsoo sought him out was because of Sena. You'd think something would have clicked in this guy's head long ago.

When Minchul took Yonsoo to the hospital for treatment and Sunjae showed up, he wouldn't go in to see her even though Minchul gave his permission. Yes, permission. Sunjae pretended to bow out of Yonsoo's life then but it was all a fluke. Here he is again taking Yonsoo behind Minchul's back. A farewell dinner? He pretended to Minchul at the hospital it was farewell then.

What was Sunjae's intention when he told her what he would have liked to do with her? What was the point? To make her feel bad? Wanting her to think of him as a good guy? He never got it in his head that she was never his for one moment.

Sunjae only thinks of himself and what makes him feel good. The flowers, what was she supposed to tell Narae and especially Sena on who gave them to her? Sunjae must know they'd ask. Wouldn't he realize if Yonsoo told the truth, Sena would get angry at Yonsoo again? Does he even care about their relationship? This is why I don't like Sunjae. It's always been and still is about his feelings first.

I think about Minchul's running to Yonsoo up on the roof when he realized she knew that he knew she was sick. She was sitting and he was standing in front of her and he just grabbed her in that hug and held her tight as she cried. I loved that scene. This was all that Yonsoo needed, Minchul's arms wrapped around her and telling her to leave it all up to him.

I will never understand Sunjae's thinking they were a couple either. I didn't like it when he told her she had to live either. There he goes, bringing it up again. She was right when she told him that when she's around him, she can't forget she's sick. That was when she told him she didn't want to see him anymore. Can you blame her? And here he is after his "perfect" date, reminding her once more that she's sick. And one more thing, he looked ridiculous wearing a suit while she was in jeans in the upscale restaurant. Was he playing dress-up?

I hope this is the last we see of Sunjae but somehow I doubt it. I know something good is about to happen soon though, and it has to do with Minchul and Yonsoo. Some more great scenes are coming up.
