K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)

I saw that NG too, brad 6. LBH was taking great delight in getting the kiss just right. LOL It was fun to watch.

LBH is so good at this stuff and anything else he does and that's why he's at the top of the A list when it comes to acting.

Thanks for the treat smoochie.

Anyeong Hasaeyo, BDF emoticon

I have had enough of LBH. How about moving to the next episode? What episode are we in now? I have been watching this continously so I forgot where we stopped.

Jasy, you do make a beautiful summary with your side comments. Can you continue on? I'm bad in summarizing because as soon as I watch, I forget the sequence. I only remember some scenario that stands out in my mind, like the kissing scene, the wiping of tears behid the glass walls, and the first meeting of Minchul and Yonsoo.

Oh, and BTW, (sorry this is off the topic) is Kwang SangWoo marrying that girl from One Million Roses? I read it somewhere.

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)

Good Morning BD,

Emceema, you started it about "the kissing scenes here." That's all it takes, one little comment. Take responsibilty. LOL

We're on eposide 3 I guess.

Jonsoo goes to Director Lee's office and asks a favor of him, she asks if he would help her sister become a singer. He tells her it's very hard to break into the business.

He mentions that on her resume she doesn't mention a sister or any family for that fact. She explains a little bit, that she isn't her real sister but her feelings towards Sena are those of a real sister, but she never mentions her by name.

Director Lee tells her to go on, he's listening, all the while never taking his eyes off of his computer.

He asks if she can sing and Yonsoo says yes. She'd do anything for her, she has to pay back a debt, one she could never pay back in her lifetime.
All her life she tells the director, her sister has had a dream to become a singer, ever since she was a little girl.
Director Lee wonders why she would sacrifice everything for a person that is not blood related.

He gets up and and goes to his office a few feet away and takes off his jacket. Yonsoo is right behind him waiting for his answer.
I forget his exact words to her but it was something like he only takes someone when he knows he will win.

Maybe it's just me reading something into something he never meant, but he lookes at her so intently when he says this, I thought maybe he was also referring to his personal life too, with women. But that's just my mind working overtime. LOL

Yonsoo looks crestfallen as she begins to walk away. Director Lee notices and he watches her a bit then tells her he'll listen to her but not to get her hopes up.
Yonsoo stops in her tracks, turns around and bows but his head is buried in his work already.

Yonsoo leaves his office with a little smile on her face with her arms folded as she walks down the hall, and I love these kind of scenes with her.
She looks so cute, like a little girl who just got an ice cream cone after much begging.
Choi does these scenes very well. She's just adorable.

After work Minchul stops to watch a little free mini concert and Sena appears at that moment to sing Zero's song. She tells the crowd it's their chance to hear her for free before she becomes famous. Not a shy bone in this girl's body.

She's caught the director's eye and he remembers her from her disasterous earlier performance before him at the tryout competition.
Here, she sounds good (I think, no?) and he likes Zerro's song. A smile comes across his face.
Is it for Sena, the song or both?

Minchul is in his car now heading home and he calls Minji. After a little small talk, he asks his sister what her dream is.
It looks like Yonsoo's words have stayed with him and affected him a bit, doesn't it? Interesting.

Minji fakes that she's sick but when Minchul arrives home she's gone. He wants to know where she went, he's mad!

He enters a bedroom (mom's?) where he stops dead in his tracks and stares at Sonjae finger feeding a piece of food to his mother in a rather intimate way others might think, and sitting way to close to her doing it.
This most likely is one of the scenes Minchul happens upon when he yells at Sunjae that he doesn't tell him how to act with his mother.

Minji gets arrested for painting or defacing a bridge with her friends. Her friend calls Minchul and he goes to get her out and following is a really sweet scene with brother and sister.

On the steps of the police station, Minchul asks her if he can see her masterpiece for which she was arrested for. This interest for her "dream" although Minchul doesn't know it yet to be HER dream, brings on the biggest smile to Minji's face.

Once under the bridge, she proudly shows him her art work. He is wowed away by it. He wonders why she won't go to art school and she tells him she doesn't want it to become work or something like that.

Minchul tells her that their mother wanted her to become an artist, he thinks maybe at one time she herself was an artist.
Again, the biggest but saddest smile comes to Minji's face as she wishes aloud that she and her mother could have sat side by side painting together.

The mood breaks and Minchul asks if she's hungry and she is. This is the cutest scene with them walking under the dark bridge.

She plays with him a bit by jumping and hopping in front of him as he asks what she wants to eat. Is it pork? no, she says as she runs from side to side directly in front of him and in a little cute girly voice saying "no" to every food choice he gives her.
He goes on a bit more with his would be menu until he comes to ramen, and she says yes!
Very well done, I love this scene!

Back at home, all hell breaks loose. Dad is furious about Minji and I'm not sure if he knows she was arrested. Minji yells back at him and mom, which brings Sunjae downstairs.

Sunjae, only wanting to protect his mom lets Minji have it and then Minchul gets in the act. Sunjae wants to know why his mom takes this stuff from Minji. Minchul is furious. He tells Sunjae he doesn't tell him how to act with his mother. And on and on...

Yonsoo is again being punished by her manager? and has to stay late to work on posters.

After the latest family argument and after settling Minji in, Minchul leaves the house and goes straight to Victory. He's going to do some work.

He scares the daylights out of her Yonsoo with the sudden music he puts on. She slowly wanders over to shut it.

Minchul notices a light on and he goes to follow it. He sees Yonsoo painting. His sudden appearance scares her and she jumps!
He's quite surprised himself, he never knew she was this interested in her job to be working so late as he looks over what she's doing.
She's really being punished but at the same time she loves the painting she's doing for the posters.
He leaves as quickly as he appeared before her.

I wonder sometimes who was attracted to who first? I'm thinking it was Yonsoo.
After he leaves to go to his office or so she thinks, she stops painting and slowly walks around looking for where he is. LOL

He again causes her to jump, he appears with coffee for her! He puts the music back on and tells her it's good to have on, she won't feel so scared being alone. Then he goes to his office.

Yonsoo again starts painting, looks at the coffee and smiles. And Director Lee is drinking his cup of coffee at his desk...

When her work is done, she tries to hail a cab but no one is stopping for her. Just at the right moment, (was he waiting and watching her?) Minchul pulls up.

He offers to take her home but she doesn't want to put him out. He doesn't accept that answer and reminds her if she remembers that she has to accept his free offers.

Yonsoo comes back at him with something like it isn't a free offer anymore if someone HAS to do it.

I can't remember her exact words but it had Minchul speechless for a second or two, but just for a second or two. LOL
With a pause, a little smile and looking down, he looks like she just out did him with the words. LOL

Minchul isn't down and out for long though, he tells her it's not good to be a woman out so late alone like this, and with a little shake of his head, (meaning, get in) she gets in. LOL

On their ride home, he asks about her "sister" and how they met. Yonso tells him about growing up in the orphanage and he is listening intently, but never taking his eyes off the road.
I think he identifies with her situation somehow.

Yonsoo paints a pretty picture, always having clothes and plenty to eat and even going to high school which many kids with parents couldn't even afford to go to.

She tells him that most people could never understand how important it is to have at least one person who depends on you and trusts you.
This seems to hit a very sad sore point with Minchul, he is very, very quiet and stares straight ahead.

Something tells me they have more in common than they think. And I think Minchul knows it.

Thanks for the nice words emceema about my summaries. There will be days I'll only be able to follow up on what you guys write as a summary.
I'm having a bit of trouble with my hand lately, and waiting for it to heal and all this typing makes it worse.
So I'm hoping you can do some summaries so I can just continue on with some comments on some days.
I know I won't be able to do summaries every single day. It seems to set my healing back, ask smoochie. LOL

Yes, the actress was in that and To Marry A Millionaire. How did she do that?!?!

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)

So Sorry,.
I got a new computer at work and was blocked from the website all day. I promise, I'll go on from here. emoticon Take care of your hand.

There are some things in this episode I'd like to comment on, though.

I think Yon Soo already feels some kind of connection to Min Chul, for her to get up the nerve to ask him to help Sena. So far as I can see, Sena has no real talent. I know with the proper backing and grooming that can always change, even if there's just a glimmer of hope.

The woman manager in the store is a hoot. She's jealous of Yon Soo and piles extra work on her for spite. Like Min Chul would ever look in her direction. emoticon

The fact that he acts so dismissive of her and then does some act of kindness, unexpectedly, really keeps her off balance. She never knows what to expect. I believe he knows exactly what he's doing and enjoys doing it. He's not really cruel to her and I think he already has a good feeling about her. But, he is having fun with her.

I felt when he stopped to watch the street performance, he was just doing his job. You never know when you'll run across talent. Seeing Sena's ability to hold an audience was probably good for her. She wasn't bad, though not really that good, but maybe he saw promise with the right handling.

You'd think he'd have asked Min Ji a long time ago, what her dream is. It looks like they're so busy being unhappy and just trying to survive in that household, he'd never thought of it, until his conversation with Yon Soo.

Yes, Min Ji has flown the coop. What I found interesting here is how sweet she was to her brother on the phone and then decided to fool him, along with everyone else. I'd have believed she was a little straighter with him. I was wrong.

He breaks up one of Sun Jae's and his mother's intimate moments. Seeing this kind of scene between them makes me feel wierd, but in thinking it over, maybe its the only chance these two have to show affection for each other. Nobody else in that family does. That's one creepy household. emoticon So, I have to rethink the "wierd" thing. But, still.... emoticon Yes, Jasy finger feeding her food. I've only seen lovers doing that on these dramas, so its a little off-putting to me. Maybe I'm just a prude though. Still....... emoticon

I like the scene too, where after Min Chul springs her from the slammer, they have that sweet moment together. Its touching the way these two need each other.

Sun Jae gets caught by his father playing the keyboard. A big NO-NO. His keyboard gets thrown out the window and his mother sides with her husband. If he says no, then its no! Otherwise he's only making her life harder. Not even as a hobby. No music!!! WOW!!! Imagine your life wthout music?

His father and his disgusting friend watch as Sun Jae retrieves his keyboard from the ground. The friend says how much he looks like Lee Young Jun. The man they murdered, Sun Jae's real father. He's told to shut up.

I'd hate to have to go home to that house. Under any circumstances. When they come in and the father immediately attacks them it made me sicker of him than I was already. How can you speak to a daughter that way?? emoticon Calling her names and treating her so badly. He has the nerve to ask what the family's coming to. What family is he talking about?? emoticon That family?

Min Chul tells them how nobody knew where she was and nobody pays any attention to her at home. Min Chul tries to get her to her room, but it all falls apart when her father asks her what she's so angry about. She tells him. She hates that woman. She doesn't want to even sit at the same table with her and she doesn't want her to act like her mother. Now Sun Jae comes down and joins the tirade. He tells her how she abuses his mother and how much his mother tries to do for her. She tells him something that made me think. She tells him that if her mother didn't die he'd still just be the mistress's son all his life. But, now he's the treasured son here. So ironic!!

The sad part is this kid would've owned Victory records IF his father hadn't been murdered by her father. What a mess that horrible man created in these people's lives. emoticon

I'm going to lunch, but i'll finish up when I get back. I have so much more to say. emoticon

Peachlove come on in. emoticon Everyone here will be happy to meet you. Don't be shy.

Later

Hi Family,

I'm back and as I promised I have plenty more to say. emoticon

Like Jasy said, Min Chul goes to his office after that explosion. I'd have had to get out of there too, had it been me. There's no sitting around chatting, having coffee, watching TV together, etc. You know the things normal families do. Everyone runs and isolates themselves as quickly as possible.

He sees Yon Soo working on something and turns the music on and scares her. She turns it off, but has no Idea how it got turned on, until she sees him standing there. She's startled, which is exactly what, I think, he hoped for. He likes startling her and he's so good at it. I think he still thinks she has a crush on him, from the initial misunderstanding. Does she? I don't know. I know she finds him interesting, but I think she tries to live in reality and couldn't see a connection between her and the owner's son. I don't know Jasy, there seems to be a magnetism between both of them. I don't know, but I think its him. He seems to take pleasure in being around her and I think he really likes teasing her. Like coming up behind her with the coffee. Aside from asking a favor from him in regards to Sena, I don't see her trying in any way to get his attention. She basically keeps her distance. He seems not to seek her out, but doesn't miss a chance when he runs into her by accident.

Take a look and click on this.

Image

It was funny when he drove her home and Narae was so overwrought. She really wanted to get his ear for a minute, but it wasn't to be that night. She's going to be a Manager even if she has to kidnap him. emoticon

I have a lot more to say about this episode, but I can't do it here and now. Doesn't anyone else want a chance at this?? Anybody? Somebody?

Gotta go.

Anyeong Hasaeyo! Good morning BDF emoticon

Jasy: emoticon emoticon emoticon So sorry about your hands. But you are so good, I don't know how I can even get a paragraph or two written like yours. But I will try................... emoticon

About Minchul: He is supposed to be a cold, all-business and no nonsense music producer, very talented and has an MBA from the US. It wasn't long ago that he came back to Korea but he has achieved a lot already by putting Victory Records on top of the chart. Everybody respect him and women go crazy over him, especially that floor manager, Yonsoo's boss. Nobody knows, even his own family, how he feels about relationship. So when Yonsoo came to his life, he was intrigued by her staring at him when they first meet, coming to the rescue of Minji by covering her up when she danced on top of the table, and crying silently while working at the store. Talking to her has also opened up a lot of questions in his mind, like how come she cares for a person not even blood related to her, how stubborn she is, just like Sena. Knowing Sena's obsession to be a singer, he compared her to his own sister Minji who doesn't seem to have any ambition at all. He also realized how hard Yonsoo is working for the company and how talented she is in arts.

Yonsoo, on the other hand, listening to co-workers about Minchul being ice-cold and heartless, is getting to know the other side of Minchul. At this point, I think she already has developed a feeling for the son of the President who she met long ago at the orphanage but mistaking him for Minchul. She also found out how he cares for his sister.

Wait, time out, there was an earthquake here a few seconds ago and I have to ran outside. I'll continue later, bye.

Well, we had a 5.4 earthquake here in California while I was posting on this thread earlier and I have to log out quick and run to the front door. I have a very small computer room and when I saw the walls and the hutch where my computer is sitting swaying back and forth, I knew it was an earthquake. There was a construction in my backyard going on and workers are hanging on the scaffold and I thought, my God this is big. But fortunately, no one was hurt. They didn't even notice the earthquake. They thought it was just the vibration caused by their drills and equipment. LOL emoticon

OK, where was I?

Minji: I like this kid. Although she was bratty and selfish in the beginning, I can emphatize with her. It also help that the actress is really cute. She might be too young to understand the situation when her father brought a new wife and a son home right after her mother died but when she lived with her grandmother and Minchul went away to study, I'm very sure that the grandma has filled her head with all bad thoughts about her family. Her father didn't help either by neglecting her and throwing all his attention to Sunjae. So she grew up hating everybody. Now that Minchul has come back and showed her that she is number one in his life and he would protect her from their dad and the stepmom, she went to the extreme by showing her hatred for her dad, stepmom, and anybody getting close to Minchul. That scenario after she was caught defacing a public place, then rescued by Minchul, is a banner for her carry on with her antics knowing that she has a hero to the rescue. This also made Minchul to think more deeply about Minji's behaviour and how he could better help her grow up instead of just protecting her.

This also become the common ground between Minchul and Yonsoo. So the storyline progresses and I anticipate the converging of path between Minchul and Yonsoo, Sena and Sunjae towards love and hate, trusts and suspicions but most of all, the Minchul and Yonsoo's kissing scenes. (Don't start again Jasy)

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)

Yes, BIG SCARY EARTHQUAKE!!!! I work in Downey. I work in a big old building, on the 2nd floor. I was under my desk and tried so hard to be calm but finally gave in to the fear and yelled, “I WANT OUT OF HERE NOW!!”.. The second it stopped we got the message on the speaker to evacuate the building… Like I needed that message! I had my purse and was on my way out! LOL

I heard Dr Kate Hutton (geologist) say that when it’s a rolling wavy kind of earthquake it means you are further from the epicenter. It was a rolling one too. The last horrible quake I was in was in this same old building and it was a harsh jolting jerking (which means you are close to the epicenter). That was the scariest moment of my life. Our rooms were so damaged we were displaced for over a year! It was pitch black in here and the sprinkler system had gone off and the noise was horrible, with ceiling tiles falling and air conditioning units flying around…

Ok to the show.. I started on episode 4. I have decided that your boy is definitely a looker. He is almost picture perfect looking. Maybe too perfect looking for my taste. He’s flawless. I like imperfections in someone’s face. I’m getting more used to him though.

Both of these characters have sisters that really need a lot of ‘training’… If it were me I’d put them both in a jail cell TOGETHER..

How many kids end up with step mothers/fathers/siblings? These two (especially the sister) are behaving horribly to their step mother. How rude and selfish of them. I’m sorry but their step mother is not a bad person and should not be treated so rudely. I can almost understand Michul’s (name?) being hurt and angry at the attention his father gives the other ‘son’ but he is an adult now and that other ‘son’ has done nothing to him. Him and his sister need to get over it and start enjoying their lives…

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)

Hello Family emoticon

I'm grateful you guys came on, if even just to let us know you're okay. emoticon

Emceema a very important insight about the behavior of Min Ji. You're right, she was influenced by her grandmother while Min Chul was away and that was a few years, wasn't it? So the woman had a long time to poison the kids mind. I can't say I blamer her for hating her son in law. She probably watched her daughter suffer first in a loveless marriage and then during a deadly illness that finally took her life. To witness this guy bringing another woman into her daughter's home so quickly had to infuriate her. I don't believe it was fair of her to burden the little girl with her own hatred, though.

Eventually the child would have to rejoin the family and it couldn't be good for her, the hell with the father or stepmother. Without the grandmother's bad influence the child may have made a better adjustment to, what was now, her new family. I feel for all of the kids. They're all victims here. They should've been told the truth from the beginning about Sun Jae, instead of thinking their father cheated on their mother for the last ten years of her life. How could they accept that? The transition would've been so much better for all of them. But, then we'd have no drama, right?? emoticon

The actor playing the father, is the same actor who played Mansu in our last drama. He's gone through some extraordinary changes since BD. First he's lost a lot of weight and it looks like he's had some major work done. It took me a while to realize who he is, while watching this.

I like Min Ji too and I've seen the actress in a couple of LBH movies. She is really pretty. She was in Lucifer, remember? The deaf girl?

I don't think LBH is flawless, Nsheldon. This was the first drama I saw him in and it took a little time for me to get him. Once I did, I was hooked. I've seen him in about ten or more other dramas and movies and he always gets me. And he always looks a little different. He's a really good actor, but I don't find him handsome in the traditional sense. I do think he's sexy as hell, though. He may be my favorite "bad boy". He really knows how to work it. He's a super stars in Korea and Japan. He won an award one year at the Cannes film festival. He's just made a movie here in the US. You never know you may get hooked too. emoticon Or maybe not. It really is okay if you don't.

I'm really glad to know that you guys are okay. I hope the rest of the family is too. Where are you all? emoticon

ADwatcher, your girl Okdoo is in a new drama that airs here every day. I don't remember the name of it, but there are a lot of familiar faces, including Haein and Jaeok and a couple more. emoticon

Well, I'm going to call it a night now. All lurkers check in. We know you're out there. You know you're part of the family. emoticon

See you guys in the morning. emoticon
