Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Episode 5 - (continuation)
Minji: What?
Yonsoo: Until now, I felt so bad for Sena. She doesn't have worrying parents or a brother who adores her. She has to suffer alone more. But you're who should be pitied. Sena has a dream so she can endure the pain. But you have nothing to hope for. You have neither dream nor future.
Minji: Enough! (leaving with her friends) Let's get out.
Yonsoo: Minji...........
Everbody started to leave. Sunjae came in, saw Yonsoo cleaning up. Kumsuk approached Sunjae.
Sunjae: What happened?
Kumsuk: Minji called us over to have fun. I told her (referring to Yonsoo and lying), we shouldn't drink. Minji is......... Should I clean up the place?
Sunjae: It's late, you should go.
Kumsuk: Good night.
Sunjae: (Watches Yonsoo cleaning up, but later joined her.) Go on up. I'll clean up here. (Yonsoo continued cleaning) I'm not trying to help you. I wanted to clean before mom comes.
Yonsoo: (Looking at Sunjae as he pick up trash) Sena's not at the hotel anymore. You won't find her there.
Sunjae: I can't understand you. If you're so worried about Sena, what are you doing at this house? She's at a motel, alone, getting sick and you have a mind to tutor someone?
Yonsoo couldn't say anything but continued cleaning. Sunjae, trying to stop her by grabbing first whatever she's about to pick up.
At Narae's house. Narae is struggling with Sena to keep her in bed.
Narae: Lie down. You have to sweat off the flu (She throw her down but Sena got up. She throw the comforter at her)
Sena: I said I'm leaving.
Narae: Who says you can leave? Go where? (She was on top of her to immobilize her) to that drafty room?
Sena: I feel more comfortable there.
Narae: You don't have what it takes to be a singer.
Sena (getting up again) What?
Narae: This is the attitude of a wannabe singer? You have to be in a tiptop shape physically. Look at yourself! At this rate, you won't last. And companies won't invest in a person like you. (More struggling) If I were you, I'd concentrate on getting better and making it as a singer. How you could sing a song with such weak steam power. Not your enemy, even if you must beg your worst enemy to do it. You have to. You think I like you? I'm not such a person who feeds friend's sister free of charge. I'm no philantrophist.
Sena: So, why are you doing this? (bolting up)
Narae: You really ............ (getting up and changing her clothes) I'm going to gamble with you. Until you make it as a singer (wrestling Sena who's trying to get out), I'll feed and support you until you become a singer. So help me become a manager. Please...........
Sena: (surprised look) A manager?
Narae: Yes. You're not the only one with a dream. Your dream is to be a top singer and mine is to be a top manager. So it'll be give and take. I'll give you room and board and take contact. Get it? (Poking Sena's head) Then, go back and rest. So, get well soon. And practice hard, then get a chance. They'll listen to you.
Sena: Wait. I'll leave when I have enough money.
Narae: You can't. Not until I'm a manager.
She pushed Sena down and cover her with comforter. Sena stop struggling and think for a moment. She's probably thinking, this is not a bad deal after all.
At Minchul's house: Very early in the morning, Sunjae is coming downstairs to leave. Myungja with milk in her hand stopped him.
Myungja: It's still dark out. Why go out so early?
Sunjae: I have a conference this morning.
Myungja: You have to eat this.
Sunjae: You didn't have to pack this. I'll eat it.
Yonsoo is coming down the stairs too and saw Myungja and Sunjae.
Myungja: Come home early today.
Sunjae: Why?
Myungja: We have a memorial service.
Sunjae didn't answer and leave. Yonsoo looked at him wondering.........
Fade out.
At a cemetery, Minchul got out of his car, laid flowers on a tomb.
Minchul: Mother, how have you been. Sorry, I didn't bring Minji in. She shouldn't feel sad, so I didn't bring her. Understand? (He put wine on a plastic cup) You're fifty-five this year. What should I get you this year? I should have you get a physical check-up. Women in their fifties need a regular check-ups and now I want to buy you a villa in Jeju Island. You said you wanted to retire there. Mom, why did you leave so early? (close up on his face, tears welling up in his eyes) Mom, even if it was difficult, why didn't you live a little longer for Minji's sake? There's so much that I want to do for you and now I can't do anything you want. (Wiping his tears)
Fade out.
At Victory Records, Minchul met his father and DLAss.
DLAss: You're back.
Minchul: Yes.
DLAss: You do remember that we have a party tonight, right?
Minchul looked at his father, unbelieving.
DLAss: I knew it!
Sunchun: I have to be on top of things.
DLAss: It's the record company associations' anniversary.
Minchul: You/re having a party tonight?
Sunchun: Dael's Chairman Kim is bringing his daughter, so don't be late. (leaves)
DLAss: Hook her. You've got yourself a golden goose. It's good to be Mr. Prince, no one dares say a word when you come in late. (leaves also)
Minchul's face was in agony and seething with anger.
Fade out.

K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Good Morning BD,
You gotta hand it to Sena, she knows exactly what she's doing. She waits for the President to arrive early morning and just happens to be there at that moment, after just gotten done with "jogging." Did she really?? LOL
Hey, more power to her. She has to cover all ends and if she gets a little extra pull from none other than the President, good for her. She's making a game plan. She lets it be known to the President that she's going all out doing everything she can to be a good singer for Victory, and that includes jogging to boost her lung capacity.
When the President excuses himself and goes inside, we see Minchul standing there with a little smile on his face watching. Maybe he's one step ahead of Sena knowing she planted herself in front of the door at that precise moment when the President would arrive.
In any case, Minchul has to get to know Sena better so he'll have to hang around the store more. Sounds good to me. Good news for Yonsoo, us and the store manager. LOL
The hunt is on to find this Zero singer. Competition between Victory and Muse begins. I have to say Director Lee was right all along when he told his father at a meeting that he wanted to be in charge of personnel because his thoughts were along the lines of they needed new and younger people around instead of the old foggies with old ideas.
Nothing could be newer and different than this cyber singer who has his own following already. The President sees that he has to go with the times, the here and now.
It's about now when I stop feeling sorry for Sunjae too. It's just in regards to Minchul personally that I feel bad for him because he so much seems to want to have a relationship with him. I think he already gave up on Minji. But other than that, I don't feel bad for him at all now.
When Sunjae goes into the hospital to see Sena, I was confused at first. The first time he lays his eyes on Yonsoo (as a grownup) is at the house when she moved in.
Yet he walks into the hospital room, sees Yonsoo but yet makes no acknowledgement towards her and she doesn't acknowledge him. Wasn't he surprised or shocked to see her there in Sena's room? Didn't he wonder why this woman was here?
I thought I missed something in between and had to backtrack on my remote, but no, their last encounter was when he grabbed Yonsoo's bag and ended up nose to nose with her in the hallway at the end of episode 4.
When Sunjae leaves the hospital room he seems very mad at Yonsoo. I didn't understand that either until I realized it must be because Sena told him she was the betrayer.
Things are getting really good now, heating up. Minchul, like you said smoochie, has no reason to think he'll have to worry about competition with Sunjae over Jonsoo.
At this point Minchul only played with her and he probably hasn't even made up his mind if he should take it a step further. Plus now, he has brought her into his house as a teacher and they have a deal going. He has to hold his end up about Sena.
Only when he later sees Sunjae showing interest, it shakes him up a bit and angers him. And then the real competition begins.

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Anyeong Hasaeyo! Good monday morning, BDF
Episode 5 (continued)
Yonsoo and Narae, at Victory Records' store, coming in together.
Yonsoo: Is Sena okay?
Narae: Yes. I told her to rest but she dragged herself here. She's your sister after. She's so tenacious.
Yonsoo: I'm impressed. You won over Sena's stubbornness to bring her home.
Narae: Don't you know me? I'm to be the top manager. I must control a person like a tadpole.
Minchul is at the doorway of his office. Yonsoo and Narae are at the store section, behind Minchul.
Yonsoo: (phone rings) Hello!
Minchul: (on the phone) Are you done with work?
Yonsoo: Pardon?
Minchul: Come to the bus stop in ten minutes (hangs up without waiting for Yonsoo to answer).
Yonsoo: (seeing him go out) Chief!
Narae: Mr. Prince called you? Where did you get that cellphone? What is this cellphone?
Yonsoo: You go ahead.
Narae: Why?
Yonsoo: You...........
Narae: Good lord! Okay!
Yonsoo, coming out of Victory slowly, thinking, then, see Minchul waiting by his car. He beckoned her to come and opened the door. Yonsoo was hesitating but Minchul pushed her in.
Yonsoo: Where are we going?
Minchul didn't answer but drove off.
Fade out.
At a classy department store, Minchul dragging Yonsoo around.
Minchul: (to the saleslady) Find me an evening dress.
Saleslady: For her? (To Yonsoo) Come with me.
Yonsoo: Mr. Lee!
Minchul, without looking at Yonso: Do her hair and make up too. (To Yonsoo) For the next few hours, just do as I ask. (and walk away)
Yonsoo followed him. He was selecting a tie for himself.
Yonsoo: Mr. Lee, you can't force me to do things. Tell me why I'm here.
Minchul: (puting on a tie) Because I need you (looking at himself at the mirror).
Camera close-up of eyeliners, Yonsoo's face getting made-up, Minchul waiting and reading magazine.
Yonsoo's face was done, she glanced at Minchul, who's ignoring her, still reading magazines. She tried on some gowns. She's ready, Minchul came in to look and he's taken aback with her beauty but didn't say anything, opened up his wallet and pay the saleslady. He, then, step up towards a display of necklaces, pick a beautiful strand of pearls, put it on Yonsoo, who was startled. As he was closing the clasps, his arms were around Yonsoo and they appear to be in an embrace. He fixed Yonsoo's hair and put his hands on her shoulders and ltook a long look at her. No words were spoken as the scene fades out.
At the party, Sunchun was receiving guests and being congratulated. Daeil's president Kim and his daughter came in.
Mr. Kim (to his daughter): Say hello. This is Victory Records President Lee.
Daughter: How are you!
Sunchun: You have a beautful daughter.
Mr. Kim: Thank you. I don't see your son..............
Sunchun: He should be here shortly.
DLAss: (holding a glass of wine, as he turns around) You! Good lord! (runs to Sunchun) Sir!
Sunchun: What's wrong?
He pointed to Minchul and Yonsoo just coming in. They're so beautiful together.
Minchul: (bowing) I'm sorry, I'm late. (YOnsoo bowed too).
Sunchun: Your guest?
Minchul: Yes.
Sunchun (gives his glass to DLAss) Bongdal! (So, this is his name?)
Sunchun: (To Minchul) I'd like to talk to you (and walk away)
Minchul: (To Yonsoo) I'll be right back.
Outside the ballroom:
Sunchun: Why did you bring her here?
Minchul: I used to bring other women.
Sunchun: You were supposed to meet Mr. Kim's daughter.
Minchul: I don't want to meet anyone.
Sunchun: What's your reason?
Minchul: I'm your son. (staring at each other) Do you know what day this is? (silence) I asked you a question. (Sunchun couldn't answer) I'm not up to taking a woman's life into my hands.
Sunchun left very angry. Minchul, walking into an open balcony overlooking the lobby downstais. He saw Yonsoo looking at paintings. He went downstairs slowly, one hand in one pocket, a picture of hunkiness (what a strut!) and approached Yonsoo from behind. Yonsoo turned around and saw him.
Minchul: Why aren't you up there having dinner?
Yonsoo: I'd get indigestions if I were to eat now. (Looking at the painting) This is my favorite artist's work. Her works were very warm.
Minchul: (Looking around) Let's go!
He takes Yonsoo by the hand, she struggles a bit but Minchul was firm.
Next scenario: In his car, driving:
Minchul: I want to see your favorite artist's works.
Yonsoo: But the gallery would be closed.
Minchul looked at her and smiled. At the gallery, the receptionist is getting ready to close.
Minchul: Sorry to come late. We'll make it quick.
Receptionist: Take your time.
They strolled around looking at paintings.
Yonsoo: You must come here often.
Minchul: Rich people like to receive art pieces. These places are like gift shops to me.
Yonsoo: (walking towards a painting) This is my favorite. I never saw an original piece until now. Looking at this makes me think I'm the child in the painting, like in mom and daddy's side, with no worries in the world, holding the hands of her parents. (Turning to Minchul) You should be thankful to your mother. She gave you Minji and Sunjae.
Minchul: You know, when you look at the starts from the ground, it looks so friendly by distance. But it doesn't. Today is mom's death day. It's been 15 years. Still remember that day like live. Think of the day when my mom died. Feeling sad, angry and fearful.
Yonsoo, who was far behind Minchul, walks slowly towards, as the theme music played and the scene faded.
My next post will be the end of Episode 5. Please bear with me.

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Episode 5 (final post)
At Minchul's house, Myungja and Sunjae were preparing the memorial table. Minji came in looking disgusted.
MInji: Again? I told you not to set up a service for my mom.
Myungja: Go get changed.
Minji picked up a bowl where Sunjae was quietly peeling an apple.
Sunjae: Give it to me!
Minji: Are you kidding me?
Sunjae: Give me.
Minji: Don't be a hypocrite. Who's my mom to you that you'd respect her memorial day? Don't put on a how. Don't be silly. (throws the bowl in Myungja's direction. She cringed. Minji picked up her mom's picture and turned the table over, pushed Myungja aside and stormed upstairs).
Myungja quietly picked up the mess. Sunjae was trying to suppress his anger, holding his mother's arms.
Sunjae: Mom, let's go.
Myungja: Sunjae.......
Sunjae: (Shouting) Please, let's go.
Myungja: Sunjae.........
Sunjae: Let's go! (pulling her arms and dragging her towards the door).
Next scene: At a tent bar, Sunjae is drinking and Myungja is sitting by, looking at him with worried face.
Myungja: (holding Sunjae's hand) Don't drink too much. You're not much of a drinker.
Sunjae: It was your fault. Why did you fall in love with a married man? And why did you have me? Not only that, you moved in right after the wife died. You were wrong. You have nothing to say no matter how badly they treat you.
Myungja: I know.
Sunjae: It would've been better if we lived by ourselves. I was happier without a father.
Myungja: Sunjae........
Sunjae: Then, you more respectable and you smiled more. I miss the old you. Minji and Minchul aren't the only ones to lose a mom. I lost my mother too.
Myungjae, silently weeping, cradled Sunjae's head in her arms. Later, they were walking towards home when Minchul's car passed them by. Minchul noticed them and stopped. He and Yonsoo got out of the car. Myunja saw them and called Minchul.
Minchul: Where were you?
Myungja: I had a drink with Sunjae. Did you two go somewhere? (noticing their clothes). Let's go home. I've prepared everything for the memorial service.
Yonsoo: Get in.
Myungja: No, you go first.
Yonsoo: Please!
Minchul: Please, get in.
Sunjae: Come in first.
Myungja: Okay. Come in soon (to Sunjae)
Myungja got in the car and Yonsoo and Sunjae were left behind. Yonsoo walked ahead of Sunjae but he was so drunk he had to lean against the wall to keep standing. Then, he dropped to his knees and vomit. Yonsoo came to help him.
Yonsoo: Are you all right?
Sunjae: Just go (he pushed her away)
Yonsoo came back and asked him again if he's all right. Sunjae was crying uncontrollably. Yonsoo patted his back.
Sunjae: Why, never seen a man cry before?
Yonsoo: You're no different from Minji. Memorial day is to remember the ones who passed away, not to get drunk and sad. Com on, get up. Your brother told me about your mother.
Sunjae: Minchul spoke to you about our mom? Did he also tell you that we have different moms? (Yonsoo looked surprised) My mom.............. is alive. Shall I state it simpler? Minchul's and Minji's mother passed away and my mom's the one who prepares their mother's memorial service. My mother, she's the one feeling sorry and being hated for staying alive.
Sunjae broke down. Music played. Fade out.
At the gate, Myungja was waiting. Minchul came out from the house.
Minchul: Waiting for Sunjae?
Myungja: He didn't show up at the service. I feel sorry for Miss Kim.
Minchul: Go in. I'll look for him.
Myungja: You must be tired. Sorry (She turned to leave)
Minchul: Mother! (Myungja turned around) You work hard but you should stop now. From next year, I'll go to the grave, instead. Go inside.
Minchul started walking. He saw Yonsoo attending to Sunjae. His face looks grim and unreadable.
Sunjae: Please go.
Yonsoo: No, you're too drunk. Get up.
Sunjae: Please, just go.
Yonsoo: Please get up. Let me help you.
Yonsoo tried to help him up but he staggered and ended up in Yonsoo's arms.
Minchul: (angry) Get up!
Yonsoo: Mr. Lee!
Minchul: (Walking towards them) Get up! (loud)
Sunjae: Is the service over?
Minchul: Your mother's worried about you.
Sunjae: Brother, how about having a drink with me?
Minchul: (To Yonsoo) What are you waiting for? Let's go.
Yonsoo finally stood up and followed Minchul.
Sunjae: Wait, let me ask you a question.
Minchul: Let's talk at home.
Sunjae: If......... If I die before you, will you observe my mother's memorial day? (standing up) You won't, will you? You won't even bring a single flower to her grave, will you? Right?
Minchul: If you're so worried, just live longer than me.
Yonsoo looked horrified at Minchul while pitying Sunjae. She slowly followed him home.
Inside, Minji was sleeping, holding her mom's picture close to her chest, with tears in her eyes. Yonsoo wiped the tears, removed the picture and covered her with blanket. She was about to lay down when she thought of Sunjae. She stood up, walk to the hallway and saw lights from Sunjae's room. She peeked thru the door and saw Sunjae, with eyes closed, ears covered by audio jacks, playing his keyboard. She observed him for a while, turned to leave, but decided to go in instead. The sound of the door closing startled Sunjae and instantly covered his keyboard.
Sunjae: What are you doing?
Yonsoo: I'm sorry. I was worried.
She turned to leave but Sunjae said wait.
Sunjae: Sorry, I yelled at you earlier.
Then he beckoned to her to come closer. Theme song played.
Fade out.
Boy, it's a back-breaking, finger-numbing, eye-straining job. I'm glad it's done. Now, let's go pick each scenario, line by line.

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Hello BD Family
Emceema, You did a great job on the summary. Its a hell of a lot of work, so maybe we should all do an episode each. At least those of us who want to. It may be too much for one person. Let's think about it. I do appreciate and thank you. You did a magnificent job.
First I want to address Yon Soo's and Sun Jae's conversation in the hospital cafeteria. Why is it so common in Kdrama for one party to be verbally attacked by another and not offer a word in their own defense.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yonsoo: Have you known my sister for long?
Sunjae: No
Yonsoo: Then, how did you become her boyfriend?
Sunjae: I'm not her boyfriend.
Yonsoo: You're not? My sister thinks you are, but you don't? You mean my sister thinks you're her girlfriend but you aren't? (Sunjae couldn't help but smile). If you two don't think on the same tract, you shouldn't see each other. Don't see her anymore. She's lonely at heart and longs for people's kindness. If you're not sincere, stop seeing her. I won't tolerate Sena's getting hurt.
Sunjae: Why do you believe I'd hurt her?
Yonsoo: You're toying with her.
Sunjae: Toying with her?
Yonsoo: I don;t know how you two met., but don't think you can mistreat her. I'm warning you, if you hurt her, I'll not stand for it.
Sunjae: I don't know why I have to listen to this. But I will say one thing. You're the one who hurt Sena, not me. (he got up and leave)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, the problem I have with this scene is that Sun Jae doesn't explain how he knows Sena and he should. Another problem, just like Yon Soo assumes something, without knowing the facts, so does he. The difference is that Yon Soo saw him enter a motel with Sena, so I can understand her assumption. And then after seeing that, this guy is ****y enough to say he's not her boyfriend. The other problem is that he didn't tell Sena he's not her boyfriend and he should have, before telling Yon Soo. The problem here is that he doesn't know Yon Soo saw him. Maybe she should have spoken up. But, I get why she'd think he's toying with her.
On Sun Jae's side, he just assumes that Sena's word about Yon Soo is gospel. Another huge mistake. ASK A QUESTION, PEOPLE!!! Yon Soo could easily explain to anyone what happened the day she was supposed to meet Sena, all those years ago. She could prove it in a NY minute, too. This kind of thing drives me crazy. Must be because I have a very BIG mouth and I'd never stand for all the abuse this girl is taking without speaking out. And now Sun Jae's jumped onto the Yon Soo is a betrayer bandwagon.
Then Yon Soo gets home and finds a big mess and besides Min Ji the house is a mess and full of her drunken friends. I like the way she handled it, but I don't think its going to change over night. This kid is on the brink of disaster. I hope Yon Soo can find a way to help her.
Sun Jae coming in as everyone's left finds Yon Soo cleaning up. He's still angry with her and a little rude too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sunjae: (Watches Yonsoo cleaning up, but later joined her.) Go on up.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Her saying that he won't find Sena at the motel, lets him know she's aware that he went there with her. What stops him from saying, Sena had no where to go and I just went up for a minute to make sure she'd be safe? So, she still has the wrong idea and it could've been resolved.
Yon Soo can't answer his accusation, because she'd have to disclose the
deal she made with Min Chul. This is all so convoluted, I'm surprised anything can ever get done.
Min Chul at the cemetery talking to his mother was a very sad scene. I was very touched how he spoke to her about what he could do for her now. How he'd get her checkups, because women in their 50's should get checkups. From what I remember, she's dead 15 years, which would mean she died at about 40 or so. She left a six year old daughter and an eleven year old son. So terrible. Poor woman. Poor kids.
Emceema, DLAss??!!??? Was that the best you could come up with? I love it. This guy, besides being an idiot, is a really bad man with a very foul mouth. When Min Chul runs into his father with DLAss? he's told there's a party that night. He can't believe his ears, so he asks his father again. "You're having a party tonight?" . I think his asking was to see if he could jog his father's memory about what day this was. I don't know whether or not to believe that man forgot. I wish I could give him the benefit of the doubt, but I can't. He didn't care much for his wife when she was alive, so I can't see him worrying about a memorial service 15 years later. He tells Min Chul not to be late, Chairman Kim is bringing his daughter. Yeah Right!!!
I'm going to stop here. I need to eat something now. I'm interested in some very telling scenes that are coming up soon. I'll be back. I have a lot to say. What's new.
Later

Re: K-Drama (SBS): 아름다운 날들 (Beautiful Days)
Anyeong Hasaeyo! Good morning, BDF
NSheldon: You're a sucker for baby-faced, innocent-looking guy like Sunjae. He is just like Kiwoong of BB. If not for Minchul, I would have loved Sunjae too. LOL!
Smoochie: In k-drama, we, the audience, are always left hanging with open mouthed in scenarios with character conflicts which could be solved with a simple explanation. Oftentimes, I yell at the screen saying like "just tell her you don't like her!", or "isn't it obvious, you moron?" But this is what these scenarios do to us. It arouses our emotion and we tend to forget the real world. Sometimes when I watch k-drama in my bedroom with the lights out and by myself, I get too absorbed as if I'm there at the scene together with these characters. I laugh when they laugh and cry when they do. Crazy?
Anyway, Sena is a very brass character compared to Minji. I don't know why Yonsoo was so devoted to her. Even when they were young, Sena was a selfish, attention-grabbing brat and she didn't outgrow it. Minji, on the other hand, is the product of a loveless family. With a father who totally ignores her and a very timid step-mother who lets her do whatever she wants, she acted rebellious to her elders. If not for Minchul, she would have totally lost her sanity.
Smoochie, in that scenario, Yonsoo acted like a mother hen, too protective of Sena and Sunjae is sarcastic enough to say "you're the one who hurt Sena, not me". Yonsoo cannot counter that.
You're also right about why didn't Yonsoo explained to Sena from the first time they talked at the cafe why she couldn't meet her that fateful day. It would be too simple, and too real.
Minji and friends, Yonsoo and Sunjae: Minji is showing her rebellious side again by partying with her friends right at the living room of their house. She really wanted to be discovered and seen drunk. This is a show for Yonsoo or who ever come in first. So it happened to be Yonsoo. But if Minchul come in first, she would have sobered up really quick. Yonsoo and Sunjae's relationship at this point is still cold. But I can see Sunjae is softening and Yonsoo is also seeing some kindness from Sunjae. Nsheldon: You'll probably love episode 6!
