Both LA and Garden Grove are pretty good locations (at least for me). I know Can'tGetEnough mentioned SF Valley. That's a bit far but I would go if everyone else does.Look forward to meeting you and all other newbies - hope nchristi can come, too.
Temple visit sounds great. If the majority would prefer to wait until PIH ends, sounds good to me, too.
Addie, maybe this time we can go together.... and anyone else who lives in the Valley, too.

Re: K-Drama Fan Meetings! (Post, Discuss, and Arrange)
I would like to add a little feedback on the subject of the group "name." First of all, please clarify what the purpose of this group is. Is the group meeting specifically to celebrate and enjoy "Pure in Heart, " Korean dramas in general? Or, is the group focus on CJK members getting together in a social celebration/bonding? Since the first fan meet was specifically to celebrate the Bizarre Bunch drama, BB Family seemed appropriate at that time.
Over the past year or so, I have heard from others who also are uncomfortable with a "BB Family," or any other self-created, sub-"family." The primary cause of discomfort is an "insider/outsider" feeling arising from a group proclaiming itself a "family" (clique) within the "CJK family."
As one person put it, how would the BB Family feel if everyone else started their posts with "Hello everybody except the BB family"? Addressing our posts to a select group of people is essentially excluding addressing our posts to the rest of our members. (Not everybody wants to be a part of any sub-family group.) Generally speaking, our posts should be inclusive of our entire membership, unless we are addressing an individual's specific comment or question.
The BB Family or KD Family or any family, does not have a hurtful motive or intend any exclusivity. However, the fact that others are disturbed by this "family" name does not mean we should discount or dismiss their feelings. Compromise is the name of the game here.
While Korean Drama Family (K D Family) may seem innocuous, there is one glaring problem with it if we are including all members of the board. What about our members in the Japanese and Chinese forums? This is a moot point, however, if the group is narrowing itself to only K-drama fans.
If not, however, perhaps a name more inclusive would be preferrable.

I would vote for Threads. We all are of different colors and compositions and yet each of us make up this wonderful "blanket" of comfort, connection, warmth, beauty, etc. It may sound corny to some but as I think about it, it seems to include everyone and everything that this board is about. Multiple threads....just a thought.

I have thought about your post ,nchristi and I would like to respond .
There really is no group or meeting as such .As I recall ,last summer when BB was ending ,Margaret said she was going to be at Koreatown Plaza to eat her favorite Korean food ,and most of us jumped on the bandwagon. We had a wonderful time and wanted to meet again .
Yes ,that started with Bizarre Bunch ,because that was what brought us together .We all became close during the time that that drama was on - though it took awhile !!!
When it was ended ,we all wanted to stay together .It was never exclusive ,and it was never meant to be .I believe that each new poster is welcomes not only by yourself, but many other members as well .
We called ourselves a family because of the joy we felt in community- finally others that understood why we watched K drama !
We have members that span the spectrum of age ,gender ,ethnic background ,race ,hearing ,non hearing ...none of that matters or has ever mattered .
In my personal opinion ,the lunch ( as opposed to a meeting ) is not about PIH ,but about a community of like minded people who have bonded through Korean Dramas ...who would happen to like to meet face to face .
I have only watched one Japanese Drama.but I recognize a lot of the same names that post over here .
I hope that those that watch the Mandarin dramas would feel welcome here as well .
They certainly are !
I an not about exclusivity .I am a citizen of two nations ,and I can communicate in 3 languages while studying another .I belong to many families - not just my family of origin .
I vote for now that we table this discussion .Perhaps we can revisit it in person at the lunch .
IMHO ,this discussion feel divisive and sometimes politcal correctness becomes onerous .
If we begin to argue about what shape of the table we should have at the lunch :
Then I respectfully decline to attend .

I second the motion to table the discussion.

I'll admit to being partial to the Garden Grove venue-because it's closer to me-just one vote

Re: K-Drama Fan Meetings! (Post, Discuss, and Arrange)
Kdrama Family... I hope we can all get together for a great Kmeal and a lot of discussion on the Kdramas we are currently watching or have watched.
Since there may be a dozen or more people, there could be several discussions going on. We can talk Yellow Handkerchief, Bizarre Bunch, Pure in Heart, Chill Sisters, River, etc.!!
It's too bad some of our 'family' live in other states and getting together for a lunch and a bit of conversation is impossible for them. I think we are so fortunate to have people on our board that are willing to put in the effort to plan a gathering. I really am glad, and appreciate those folks!
Someone mentioned that there are several K restaurants around Garden Grove. Doesn't really matter where. I may want to ride with someone if possible.
Also, that temple visit sounds wonderful. We could make a day of it. Temple visit and then lunch. Or....???

Re: K-Drama Fan Meetings! (Post, Discuss, and Arrange)
Hadn't check in here in a while. Glad I did. Didn't know it was still active.
Had so much fun at the last meeting, I'd love to do it again. Pretty much anywhere in So. Cal is good for me.
Tankersparks will you be running this meeting also?
Whoever it is, let me know what I can do to help.
