Re: K-Drama Fan Meetings! (Post, Discuss, and Arrange)
Hi Everyone -
Well CantGetEnough has brought up some very good points.
Time: I though of 1:00 because it was closer to lunch time. If we start to gather at 1:00, order our lunch, sit down and start eating, it will be well into 2:00 mode. The food court is really big. However, CantGetEnough point is well taken, how busy will it be at 1:00? I have found that if I want to have lunch with friends (during the week) I usually meet them about 11:30 or after 1:00. If we say, lets start gathering at 1:00. By the time we ordering lunch, sitting down and start talking it should be about 1:30 or 2:00. That will accommodate a leeway in arrival time.
After we eat, we can go around the tables introducing ourselves and explain 'HOW IN THE WORLD DID I GET ADDICTED TO k-DRAMAS'. I am sure we all have wonderful stories to share.
Name tags are a must - CantGetEnough - if you can bring name tags that would be great. I too suffer from a poor memory with names.
I do not have the ability to do posters. The idea of some kind of poster made from the front page pictures is excellent. We can tag tables with them. Can anyone help with this? We really need to mark the meeting spot. Yes!! I want to include everyone (including other diners) If we can have some posters of any sort to make it easier for our family members to find our spot that will help. Do I have a volunteer for poster making???????
I am sure we are going to shock the food venders and other diners in the food court when a “BUNCH” of "BIZARRE" fans show up. OH! WHAT FUN.
I have checked the Amtrak schedule and I will probably take the train up. I want to check out the ABC Plaza store (home appliance) and the Music Plaza as well. That will give me time to browse, stake out a spot for us in the food court (bottom floor) and wait for the fun to begin.
If anyone else can think of anything else that we may need please speak (or type) up. I appreciate any and all input.
Margaret

Good Morning GardenClove
Parking doesnt seem to be an issue. If you go to www.koreatownplaza.com, it has maps and all kinds of good info.
Looking forward to seeing you there

K-Drama Fan Meetings! (Post, Discuss, and Arrange)
Koreatown is one of my haunts...The parking at Koreatown Plaza is attached to the mall. It's free on the weekends. Also available at the mall is the market. You can go there for grocery shopping. Some of you have mentioned kalbi et al. You can find all of that there and most of the people at the market speak English. You can also check out the deli that provides all kinds of banchan (the vegetable side dishes you get at korean restaruants and are a stable in every korean meal). A couple of menu items you might look out for is jajang mein. It's the black bean noodle dish everyone eats on dramas and gets all over their faces. It's really yummy. Up in the music store, there are OSTs of fav dramas and some sheet music as well. And of course, they have a whole section of dramas - they're pretty expensive, but they do offer several you can't get on Yesasia.

EMCEEMA Thank you for volunteering to do the posters. I am pretty sure that we will beable to bring tables together.
TangPriest I have been to the mall several times. I some how missed the Market. Where is it located?
A block or two north of the Plaza (same side of the street) is a small shopping mall. I dont know the name because it is in Korean. The first time I found it, it was like stepping back into the shopping alley behind the Koreana Hotel in Ulsan. The only difference was when I looked up there was a roof overhead instead of sky. Great place to explore.

Re: K-Drama Fan Meetings! (Post, Discuss, and Arrange)
I think the market is on the bottom floor--I remember we walked out past it into the parking structure. I haven't been to Kim's, but I have been to that store that advertises all the bedding and the hanboks. I have tried to buy one of those dolls (yeunji) that have traditional korean clothing, but no luck, at least not yet.
Tankersparks, is the train the same one as Amtrak? I'm very familiar with the Green/Blue/Red lines--I've been to LACMA that way, so I know the Redline stops just north of Koreatown. But I've never taken the train. Would really like to do that, and really want to check out the video store. Where does the train stop? How do you change over to the Redline?
I like nsheldson's idea--talking to each other first to see if we can guess who's who!
If the train doesn't work out, I can probably make it up via green/blue/red.
