Re: K-Drama Fan Meetings! (Post, Discuss, and Arrange)
I wanted to say what a wonderful time we all had . The Temple tour was fabulous ,and I really appreciated seeing part of a service and listening to the chanting .
Thanks ,Pooka for arranging the tour !! We supposed to be there for 1 1/2 hours ,but the tour went over because we had so many questions - and of course ,we had to hit the bookstore .
It was really nice to see Charles and meet his fiancee,Cindy . I felt as curly carrot did - that we would have more time to talk at the restaurant .....
A big shout out goes to Tankersparks ( M's)for planning all of this . The door prizes were great .I typically don't win anything ,but I now have an AhnJaeWon CD !! We had a delicious meal at the restaurant - it if weren't so far for me ,I would definitely go again !!
It was definitely a wonderful time and I hope we do it again soon !!
I have a few pix to share .I am sorry ,but I am only going to post our board names because I can't remember all the real ones .Also ,I can't find Alex ( the anonymous afro) in the pix .Where were you Alex ???
Sorry about that >>>>Wait - I found him !!
BTW ,Nchristi - I modified these pix for message boards .I hope they are not too big -
Tankersparks - our mistress of ceremonies ,Alex and Hyena ,Creidesca
nsheldon,Adwatcher and our newest lurker - Diana
the intrepid Temple Tour leader - Pooka and Laliengo
Laliengo,Can't get Enough ,Curly carrot and SherLee
Veronica,Creidesca,Vanessave,Pooka
And finally ,a group picture :
front row ( L to R )
Veronica, Laliengo ,Vanessave, Can't get Enough,Pooka , Tankersparks.
Back ( L to R )
Curly Carrot,Nsheldon,Creidesca,Hyena,Addie,Adwatcher ,Sherlee , emily ,Suzy .
I also want to mention that Funniegirlie was there too ,but for some reason did not show up in any of the pix ........
Hope you had as fun as I did ,and we do it again soon !!

Re: K-Drama Fan Meetings! (Post, Discuss, and Arrange)
Loved reading the posts and esp. seeing the pics. I wish I could have been there for the temple visit which sounded so interesting. I don't think I could have eaten all that food!!! It looked very tempting. Maybe I would have added a few needed pounds though!
What a lovely mix of people we all are on this forum.

Re: K-Drama Fan Meetings! (Post, Discuss, and Arrange)
Addie, I am happy to know that you will enjoy the Ahn Jae Wook "Reds" CD. He was the first Korean artist that I heard and have his complete collection (Reds being my favorite) As I mentioned to some at the gathering, besides the absolutely fabulous "eye candy" that we get from the Asian dramas, the music is fantastic and as my OST collection grows, I am happy to share the "finds" with others. Music has a way of touching the soul (even if you don't understand the words)
the Rain and Seven CD's that Emily ordered to be given as prizes didn't arrive in time so we will have to save those for next time.
As for the other CD gifts, we haven't heard those collections but I trust the recipients will enjoy them as well.

I'm so jealous! Everyone looks wonderful and sounds like you had a very good time!
Curly Carrot - I get up at 4am to watch AJW and CTH on their Mr. Radio show internet feed on KBS! It looks like they have a good time while they are on the air.

Re: K-Drama Fan Meetings! (Post, Discuss, and Arrange)
captiva,
I am so interested about the show you watch at 4.am. AJW was my very first Korean 'Hunk' and I have had him as my little picture on another site forever. I love him and have all his recordings including his stage shows in China which were fantastic. He is a wonderful singer and dancer. I love watchig him with his basball team which he supports and he plays with them. they travel around in Korea and China playing real matches in a league.
Please telll me more re the radio show which you watch on TV please. I often cannot sleep until the early hours and could stay awake to watch him.
Thanks so much.

Re: K-Drama Fan Meetings! (Post, Discuss, and Arrange)
Wow as usual I am late to reply!!
I just wanted to say hello and thank everyone for a really fun day!! I want to thank Mae the Hsi Lai Temple director and Don our entertaining and knowledgeable guide. We had some funny moments at the temple like the guide thinking we were a Korean Drama troupe (so next time be ready to act out a scene from your favorite drama!!) , pitching change trying to ring the bell for luck and getting our "gumball" Dharma word sayings when we were leaving. Well Cantgetenough got a karmic scolding but the rest of us just got words of wisdom.
I was great to see familiar faces again and also get to make new friends. I love that Curly Carrot and Vannessave got their families involved too. What a great mix of interesting people and stories we had that day. It is so nice to be able to put a face together with a name on the board and be able to hear every one's stories and thoughts on all of the topics we discussed that day.
Thanks Margaret for all of your hard work again!! You pulled off another great day. Even with an injured hand you had a great time planed and set up for all of us. The restaurant was great and the staff was super nice. But I though I was going to pop from all of the food I ate, poor Lalainego and I kept trying to finish our food and then the nice lady would bring over another huge plate of meat and throw it on the grill!! HAHA!! We must have looked extra hungry or she was just trying to see how much we could eat before we went into a food coma. Thanks to everyone who brought prizes for the raffle. And special thanks to Curly Carrot and her daughters for my beautiful fan from the temple, it is a great souvenir of a great day.
The only pictures I have are from the temple , because I was either eating or talking too much (as usual) at the restaurant to take any photos but it looks like Addie has got that covered for us.
click on them to make them full size.....
I can't wait until we all do this again....hey what is everyone doing Sunday?..Just kidding!
Oh to watch Cha Tae Hyun and Ahn Jae Wook follow the instructions on this page and d/l Kong (I did it per Captiva's instruction HAHA) and you can watch them after midnight here on the west coast, they always seem to be having the best time!
