Ok, ALL who are taking the train from Fullerton: I was looking on mapquest to see what the distance is from Union Station to the Korean Cultural Center. It’s about 10 miles. That seems like a long way to go on the bus. Does this seem correct? It may take some time to get there if the bus stops at every intersection..

Curly Carrot: Where is the restaurant you mentioned where they could accommodate us? I am wondering how far from the Korean Cultural Center it is. Us pedestrians will have to ride with folks in cars to get there if it’s not walking distance.

Union Station: 800 N. Alameda, L.A. 90012
Cultural Center: 5505 Wilshire, L.A. 90036

Hi guys, can't make it to the meet but nsheldon regarding your inquiry about getting from Union Station to Korea town, it's best to take the red line from Union Station to Korea town. I don't know how many trips you'll have to make around town but if you have to get on or off the MTA more than 4 times it'll be worthwhile to purchase the $5.00 day pass at the machine. Otherwise it'll cost $1.25 per trip.

From Union Station take the Western/Wilshire red/purple line (not the N Hollywood Line) and get off at Western/Wilshire the end of the line. This trip should take about 20 minutes. From there take a bus down Wilshire to Dunsmuir or LaBrea. The rapid 720 might be quicker as it doesn't make as many stops but you'll have to walk a couple of blocks from LaBrea. I just did a trip to Western/Wilshire via the red line this past weekend taking a bus from the Wilshire/Western station to the K-town Gallery Mall. By the way the video store in the mall is having some movies on sale for 50% because they're moving to a lower floor.

I believe the Cultural Center is 2.72 miles (mapquest) to Music Plaza in Korea Town. Not sure where the restaurant is we plan to eat at after we are through with the Cultural Center.

I failed to realize that the Korean Cultural Center is that far from Koreatown...definitely not walking distance!!

I have no problem getting to the Cultural Center on my own but if I can get a ride to the restaurant in K-town afterwards, I'd appreciate it...unless, I can find somebody coming from the Pasadena or Glendale area that I can hook up with?!

Yeah, I had no idea of the distance either and had thought the Center was in Korea Town.

This can be done but we’ll have to have others drive us folks who are without transportation. Is everyone ok with that? I believe we’ll need a ride back to where ever we catch the bus or whatever back to Union Station.

It’s supposed to be a bit cooler (isn’t this heat hideous?) and I think we’ll have a great time! Can’t wait to get my kimchi 

Are you sure about the name, curly carrot? I checked the address & the name of the restaurant and couldn't find it on the web??
