Re: K-Drama Fan Meetings! (Post, Discuss, and Arrange)
class blockquote For example - is the San Fernando Valley / Glendale too far ??No since Valley people travel down to Garden Grove. There are nice Korean restaurants here, too. class blockquote I think we should invite members of the JdramaHiroshi and I tried starting a Japanese theme get-together last year (which all were invited), but there didn't seem to be any interest. We have a "sticky" thread on the J Boards and talked about going to a Japanese garden or the Japanese exhibit at LA Museum of Art beforehand.
Or we can all take the Purple Line to Chinatown. Let's do something different.
One thing I noticed is everyone saying "wish I could have talked to more people". I would like something where there is a small area to socialize before sitting down to eat.
Addie, you must of missed my post on the other page asking you to PM me as I would like to work with you on the LA gathering.

Re: K-Drama Fan Meetings! (Post, Discuss, and Arrange)
Addie, no problem -- I forgot to bring my camera that day too, LOL!
But yeah, we never got around to planning the J-Drama Forum gathering.
If we have the gathering in the San Fernando Valley, we could meet at the Japanese Garden. It is at the southern tip of Van Nuys and is about five minutes from the intersection of the 101 and 405 freeways. It's also right near the Metro Orange Line Woodley Station. If we go with this option, I know there are a lot of Japanese restaurants closeby to the gardens on Ventura Blvd. Sometimes, it feels like there are more Japanese sushi restaurants on Ventura Blvd than in all of Tokyo! Every block, there are at least 2 or 3 restaurants on each side of the street.
The "Holiday Shopping in Koreatown" idea sounds great, too! The Koreatown Galleria mall has lots of nice shops and places to eat, too. The Galleria is on the corner of Western and Olympic, but I think there is another mall right up Western Ave called the "Koreatown Plaza". It is also 2 stories and has lots of stores. I think it is on the corner of Western and James M. Wood Blvd (one block north of Olympic).
There's also a new Korean shopping mall that just opened up a couple of months ago called "City Center Mall". It's on the corner of 6th St and Mariposa Ave, just a block or two away from the intersection of Wilshire Bl and Normandie Ave. It's brand new, so some shops haven't opened yet. But, I'm sure they will be open by the holiday season.
Or, we could always go to Chinatown or Little Tokyo. Just putting some options on the table we can all work with.

Re: K-Drama Fan Meetings! (Post, Discuss, and Arrange)
Just to add my two cents...I'm fine with all the places mentioned!! I do have a preference for Korean food & soju...not to mention, it would be nice to visit the Koreatown Galleria & pick up a DVD set or two of K-dramas!!
However, it would be nice to try Little Tokyo or Chinatown, too!! As for the dates, I'd like the early December one...as the other ones might conflict with other stuff I have going on at that time.
Otherwise, let's work on it & anything I can do...within reason, LOL...I will be happy to help and look forward to seeing everybody at the next gathering
--- Nam Sang-Mi...my favorite K-drama actress & a BEAUTIFUL woman!!
Chae Rim...my 2nd favorite K-drama actress & gorgeous!!

If most feel the end of this year is too soon, feel free to suggest to wait until early next year.
