Re: K-Drama Fan Meetings! (Post, Discuss, and Arrange)
Anyong Haseyo! Good morning BB!
My latest tally of attendees: 14 (includes Jazzz4).
Can'tgetenough: Did you say you're doing the name tags? I have made 5 posters to sit on 5 tables. With my latest tally, if one table sits 4, we need only 3 to 4 tables. We can add an extra table if need be. However, it depends on how crowded the food court would be between 1-2pm.
Like I said before, my husband and I will be there at the food court having our lunch between 12 to 1pm. Did I understand it right that we will not be eating together since most of you will not arrive at the same time? Then, we should at least have our desserts together, then we can talk, discuss, argue our favorite drama and relate our own stories on how it all started.

Re: K-Drama Fan Meetings! (Post, Discuss, and Arrange)
Good Morning everyone.
I have been having some real problems with my puter.
I am doing this on the fly as I am running out the door to work.....
I really would like the start time to be 1:00 .... we can get our lunch and sit were we can however doing it all at once may be a problem. Having desert together is a plan. Getting to know each other is also a plan.
Just before you walk into the food court, there is a store on your right that sells 'boba' they should come with warnings.
They are very good and you can get them in meny flavors. What they dont tell you is at the bottom of the cup is little balls. They are chewy. The straw that is served is large to accomadate the size of the 'boba' balls so be careful if you have never tried them. They are good but watch out.
I am so thrilled at the number of people that are going to be there,,,,, I cant wait.
I must run
More sooooon

In particular, if you suck hard on the straw, you may suddenly find a tapioca ball shooting up the straw and down your throat.

K-Drama Fan Meetings! (Post, Discuss, and Arrange)
ccwf:
In Taiwan, is the direct translation from the Taiwanese (or is it Manadrin?) of the tapioca balls, frog eggs? The tea is really yummy, sweet, but yummy.

I also found multiple references saying that tapioca balls are called frog eyes in Khmer.

Hahaha! Thanks for the research. Either way, they're not frogs eggs or eyes, just so there's no confusion, but boba tea is really tasty.

Re: K-Drama Fan Meetings! (Post, Discuss, and Arrange)
Is this the same drink they call "bubble tea" in Singapore? It looks like iced tea with cream in it and a bunch of little balls in the bottom.
Hold on, did some quickie research here:
From Red Man Bubble Tea Series class blockquote Eating Bubble Tea
Move over latte and espresso - here comes Asia’s new king of drinks.
“Come, let’s ‘jiak teh’,” our grandfathers would say, inviting their cronies to reminisce the good, old days over a cup of tea.
Who would have thought that in the new millennium, tons of young people are doing that too - ‘jiak teh’ or literally ‘eating tea’ - with bubble tea!
Bubble tea - a chilled tea drink, sometimes filled with gummy tapioca balls you have to chew on! - has caught on in Asia and parts of America in a big way. In Taiwan, Hong Kong and now Singapore, there are bubble teashops at every corner. In fact so immensely popular is the drink in its motherland Taiwan, that it might well be the country’s national drink! Even the United States is falling for the drink, with hundreds of locations serving bubble tea in California alone, and many more shops expected to mushroom. So why are so many people hooked on it? The hot weather is definitely a big push for us to scurry into the queue of the nearest bubble tea stall - who can resist this cool, silky concoction when it’s scorching at 30 degrees Celsius? Still, we at Phoon Huat suspect that its allure runs deeper. It is the freedom of choice that the drink offers that is winning fans all over Asia. There’s something for everyone - red or green tea; with or without milk; mango, almond, chocolate or other flavours; with or without pearls… just deciding what you feel like having today is already half the fun!
