Super Rookie Episode 1 and 2
Ok I've seen eps 1-3 last week but then stopped.. I rewatched SR episode 1 last night, but then got tempted to rewatch episode 2 a little past midnight before I went to sleep.
Some general comments about the first two episodes.
The first scene was hilarious. I admit I didn't understand it at first. In that scene, Ho Kang is depicted as a know it all, super brain, but then following that he is exposed as a goof/not very smart. I didn't get it at the time. I didn't understand the dichotomy between that scene and what eric is portrayed as later on. Following that scene though, when Eric/Ho Kang made that speech about joining that company was his dream since grade school, but then the company representatives told him that was another company...that scene was positively priceless. I understood this scene after watching episode 3 last week though.
Eric is the absolute quintessential main character in this one. He's starkly different from his role in Phoenix and he totally pulls this one off. I can't picture someone playing this role any better. His character is really fun to watch. Typical goofball lazy bum that's trying to do something, but he does it with such charm and the character writing and acting really push this one over the top - in contrast to say that lazy boss in Secret. (Might be my favorite character in a K drama so far)
I also noticed a few Prince's First Love actors/actresses from the beginning. Yoo-Bin's mom playing that over-the-hill bar hostess/owner was so funny. She really pulls of the role well. She's a great actress in my opinion and almost all her lines, facial expressions that I've seen in this one just make me crack up. The other bar hostess is funny as well. The two bar scenes just made me crack up so much. The first scene where the men enter the bar and see those two, and immediately take off. LOL I suspect and hope there will be more!
Gweng Pil of Prince's First Love is back! (What's his real name again?) He's such a clown, and as always pulls of the comic relief scenes with such panache. I hope he has more scenes!???
Good to see Kevin here too. This is starting to be PFL + Phoenix reunion show, a good thing.
Ho Kang's parents are great, and really act as great polarizing forces in the series. The mom is the perfect nagging mother, reminds me of Yoo Bin's mom from PFL, but this one is more annoying and nagging, in a fun and appealing way. Her facial expressions are so funny. I think his dad's great, he's like the calm, kind, low key, voice of reason in the family. The scene where he gave Ho Kang all/most of the money he had. It was particularly touching (when it showed his damaged shoes) and the poignancy of that was further driven home during the boxing match when Ho Kang wouldn't give up.
The brother sorta annoys me but he's still a good dynamic in the group. He's so dorky and how should I put this...has a flowery personality. ;)
Moving out of the family unit, the other 3 main characters are equally good. Mi-Ok strikes me as a naive goody-goody. She's really cute, but maybe I'm being ultra shallow but the mole on her nose just sticks out like a sore thumb. I'm expecting and waiting for a trademark (super LOL) bbstl dig at her.
All the characters in this really appeal to me. I really like the setting as well. The whole environment, trapping, storyline just clicks, at least so far. The groundwork laid out on this one is immensely engaging, I'm totally hooked. I hope the rest of the series continues to be as entertaining as the first two episodes.
Also the music is good, not epic/sophisticated or grand in the way that Phoenix, Prince's First love is, but this has a great contemporary vibe. Also people who like ballads/kpop will love the music here. It fits all the scenes, so who can complain. I'm very addicted to the main theme of Super Rookie, it's so darn catchy and trendy. One of the first things I did after watching episode 1 was to convert the cd audio to mp3 in 192kbps so I can have it on my computer and mp3 player for easy access/listening.
I had very high expectations coming into this one after all the hype I heard in the General K drama thread in the Gen. forum, and these have been exceeded so far. I don't remember enjoying watching something to this level in a long time. I'm so tempted to watch the rest of the series to completion this weekend, but I'd like to pace myself with 1 episode a day, so I can let it soak in. I can't wait to see what's coming next.

Always Current Discussions of Different K-Dramas: K-DRAMA VIDEO CLUB!
Episode 1 Wed., Episode 2 Thursday.
Not mentioning the towel part should have been obvious for me, no? :P
I've only seen 3 episodes so maybe Min will develop more, I agree his hair movie is hilarious. But he's such a brat of a brother. He's always trying to do something against Ho.
I saw the movie, I believe it was a retelling of the famous french novel, "Dangerous Liasons". Several western versions of the film have been done as well, like "Valmont". I'm actually surprised they aired this on AZN, even though it was kinda late at night. I don't remember seeing this much nudity/thrusting/explicit sex on a regular cable network in a long time.

Re: Always Current Discussions of Different K-Dramas: K-DRAMA VIDEO CLUB!
I have not finished this yet. I some very irritating relatives (mainly my abeoji), that kept phoning me while I was trying to watch. So Super Rookie was postponed for Family Fight Night and my grandmother phoning three times to tell me what I needed to pick up for her at the grocery. It's fun being me on days like that. OK - vent over. I didn't realize we had an actual chat room until Mr. C pointed it out. We ought to try that when we have a group on!
I find this series very amusing. I was rolling over with laughter from the first interview scene . I agree, GL-ah. Eric makes this movie and does a wonderful job. To be honest, everyone does. I am not impressed with the Mi-Ok character. Even hubby commented how her reactions seem to be painfully slow. It's difficult to tell when you have only seen an actor play one part. I predict you will find his brother more amusing as you get into it. One character I really like (and I don't know if he's even in Ep. 1) is the supervisor at LK that takes Ho Kang under his wing.
Maybe I will have peace at my house and be able to watch it tonight.
I am really enjoying seeing everyone's favorite drama's so far because it seems each of us have our separate ones. Let me take a guess at this:
GL - Maybe put Super Rookie at the top of your list?
Pooka - Phoenix
BB - MNIKSS
Cap - Prince's First Love (maybe PFLfan, too)
I don't know for certain what PFL and buppy put at #1

I'd need to see more to put it on the top of my list, but right now it's pretty darn close. But until I finish SR. Phoenix and PFL is tied on my #1.
What episode are you up to captiva? Are you guys going to rewatch it along with us or nah?
