I picked up on the LG/LK comparison but didn't think about Beauty Credit.

Super Rookie

pooka, what was Eric doing in SoCal? Did he live there or just go to high school there and then went back to Korea or what?

As far as the BS scene you referenced "yes I speak very good english" that scene cracked me up as well. I was rolling my eyes (figuratively) and laughing as well. emoticon

I posted this on the EoTS thread but am bringing it up here in case it goes un-noticed there. Did you all who watched last night's episode of Emperor of the Sea notice the Minister of Justice conducting the investigation against Lee/played mahjong with Master Jo? I'm not 100% positive, but I'm pretty sure it is Mr Kim from Super Rookie. He looks different/more weight/mustache, but to me his facial expressions and eyes gave it away. I didn't recognize him at first until the mahjong part. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I don't know how long Eric lived here I just know that he went to high school in Fullerton. I am 10 years older than him so I wouldn't have been around the HS crowd. A lot of kids move into our area and go to HS and then go back home afterward.

Yes that was Mr. Kim from SR in ETOS last night he is also in Sweet Spy as one of the old fighters in the gym.

Super Rookie episode 15

I watched episode 15 last night, did anyone else?

It was a low key episode, but had a number of hilarious moments. The scene where Min was telling their parents about Kang and Mi-Ok was hilarious. Especially when he said about Mi-ok "she's really got a bad temper " and then he said "peresonally I prefer Hyun-ah over Mi-ok...Ho's got no taste....This girl...she's very sexy." The way he says that and the way his body expressions are are so hilarious.

Mi-Ok is too sensitive and keeps everything to herself. When Kang and Hyung were working on the presentation together, she got so pissed off. But instead of opening up to Kang she just got mad at him and won't give him a chance to explain anything.

The fight scene with Moon and Koo was also funny. They can't fight at all, they just look silly.

Also remember after that they went to a pool table, but it had no pockets in them and only 1 yellow ball, 2 red balls and 1 white. What game is this? Kang Ho as usual dominated, he really is a jack of all trades. His avg score was like 5 to ten times higher than BS, Moon or Koo.

Moon ominously returns at the end of the episode. That guy is such a great nemesis. He's up to his old plots again. At the end of the episode he mentions having a copy of the account book. Looks like there will be trouble brewing.

Always Current Discussions of Different K-Dramas: K-DRAMA VIDEO CLUB!

I remember my korean teacher telling me that they don't play real pool in the billiard halls but some variation of it. What a funny looking white ball with the red dots on it. I think what's going on with Mi Ok is that she sees Kang with Hyun ah and it brings back traumatic memories of Bong Sam dumping her for Hyun ah. It makes her overreact and just assume that Kang Ho is about to do the same thing. Kind of like a post traumatic stress reaction! Plus Hyun ah is everything she isn't -- rich, well-educated, well-connected, well-dressed, guys falling all over her so she's got a major inferiority complex where Hyun ah's concerned, even though she definitely fights back when Hyun ah attacks her. That's my chick take on it (actually, OLD chick take on things!)

Is anyone else getting major cravings for cha chang myun and bop with banchan after watching this show? It seems like everytime I see Kang Ho's family they're sitting down to a meal of rice & fixings. Everytime anyone in the company eats they have cha chang myun! Yum!! I can't seem to find a decent cha chang myun where I live (SF Bay area) The best I've had was in San Diego & LA.

Korea Lesson #5 ??
Bop = rice (can sometimes mean "meal or food")
banchan = those small dishes that go with your bop
Cha chang myun = yummy delicious black bean sauce noodles. My subtitles call this "Chinese noodles" because you can only get it at Chinese restaurants that serve Korean & Chinese food.

What kinds of side dishes are these usually with the rice? I notice they also eat a lot of soup with rice in the K-Dramas.

I have no clue about Korean cuisine. I need to investigate more.

Super Rookie Episode 16

Yeah we basically post anytime, no specific time. I believe most of us watch the intended episodes at night also. For me usually I watch emperor of the sea/then super rookie then I go to sleep and post about it the next day.

Edit:

Episode 16

Looks like Mr Song was up to trouble as is obvious and predicted earlier. It's disappointing that Bong Sam is playing right into his desires and went along with the plot but this time instead of having Kim as the fall guy, BS chose Kang. I really can't stand BS, so far he's done nothing but be a yes man, and a villain due to his jealousy and spite against past issues between him and Kang.

The presentation part was fun. Whenever Kim is trying to feel big/humble he does that hand gesture where he extends his arms and makes these hilarious movements. He looks like a bear.

With Hyun-ah helping Kang he did well on the presentation. Remember the part where Kim asked Kang about the keypoint of the marketing? He didn't know what to say and the and Hyun-ah had a plan prior. She kept picking her nose! It's so un-lady like, I didn't expect that. ;) Anyway I don't know why Kang likes Mi-ok so much. She's never done anything for him, she's always cranky, she almost never shows her feelings for him; whereas hyun-ah is always friendly towards him.

Speaking of the presentation, have you noticed when Kang speaks english he keeps adding another letter to his words, like brand becomes brand-eh, and purpose is purpos-uh, is becomes ishu. Just a side note...

After the presentation Kim and Koon were complaining how Kang managed to do so well in the presentation, while they were in the bathroom. I guess they aren't that concerned about keeping secrets, since they talk so freely in the bathroom all the time about Kang getting a 0.

After Kang gets rejected by Mi-ok he's back home. Yet another family dinning scene. I love these scenes. Min complaining about how he did the survey for him, taking abuse from woman. "And he gives me a lousy 10 bucks?" His facial expression in that moment was priceless. He looks like he was gonna cry and be so mad at the same time.

In that series of lines, the mother says "A woman should be sweet first and foremost..." Then she looks all innocent and then does the "Min hair toss." I could not stop laughing.

After that, the plot by Song and BS errupts in the office. Chaos ensues.

Also the poker scene with sung-tae and Kang was great. I'm big into poker so this was particularly fun to watch.

The next day the company finds out the planted proof that Kang was involved. Kang figures this out after being late at night in the office where the security guard mentions someone else was using his desk. He then confronts BS and secretly records him with the mobile phone. End of the episode.

I can't wait to see what happens next! At this point I hope Song and BS fry. emoticon
