Haha. I sure was in the 90s, but luckily was able to avoid dressing up like travolta in saturday night fever . (No I didn't write the contents in that link. That was the first link I found on google on the topic, LOL)

Polyester is a little much for me!

The 70s revival thing is still going on? Where, pray tell? ;)

Yeah I was gonna say the same. The bell bottoms and platform shoes came back so yes I've worn those. All the pants out there are wide leg pants.

I wouldn't put blame on Kang Hee for her actions. After all she's still a child and does only what her mother tells her. And even though she was raised that way, between she and her mom, she is the one with the conscience. When Joon Hee was being spanked by her mom, Kang Hee actually looked pained and guilty while her mom silently gave her a warning glare. Then when Kang Hee discovered that her mom actually stole the ring, she made it known that she found that wrong and fought with her mom to return it. So I don't think Kang Hee is a bad person in nature.

Excellent points. I do remember those as well. But guilt and owning up to it are two different things. Right now I feel great sympathy for the plight of the families due to the struggles they are enduring because of the actions by kang hee and her mother.

Aygoo! My DVDs arrived tonight and I watched the first two episodes, well, fast-forwarded through most of them. I have to be honest but this one is gonna be really hard for me to get through. I hope it gets more fun soon.

The production, acting, cinematography, music are really top-notch but it's been a bit slow and sad for me. The refreshing part of this series I have to admit is seeing the Korean war through Korean eyes. I've only seen the war through the American perspective -- M*A*S*H and other movies and it was just painful seeing the way the Korean civilians were portrayed (as pidgin-mumbling idiots and "hey joe!" whores.) The characters are believable and complex.

I am really hating the pearl thief mom and the Cruella Kim designer character with the scary makeup! Aygoo! Geeshin! Honestly I wanted the MPs to smack the living daylights out of the pearl thief mom. Can't believe she's still alive in episode 2! The parents searching for Jun Hee is pretty sad.

Do you think those left alive will have a little more fun in the 70's? Please say it will be so! Let's get out of the 50's soon!

buppy yes I agree it is hard to get into. As I said up there, so far none of the characters interest me personally. Stick with it though, I think the rewards will be worth it, however....this is a serious series from what I gather...So I'm not sure what "fun" there might be to be had. But we'll see when we move into the 70s..

pfl I'm talking about both hee families due to the cause and effect syndrome. If Kang hee and her mother didn't steal:
1) Joon hee might not have been at the base (remember it was her mom who egged her on prior, to help with the theft of dong-young's room)
2) Joon hee wouldn't have gotten into trouble where she was detained, yelled at by her mom, and eventually ran off the night of the attack. Which eventually got her sidetracked and joining the fashion group.
3)Due to that her parents kept running around back and forth looking for her, and led to the tragic "tunnel" incident of episode 2.

To a lesser degree:
4)Kang hee and her mom (mom got injured/shot at in the warzone when the chinese arrived) got split up from each other because of their actions as well.
5)Dong-young lost his mother's memento (for now anyway, but he still is going through the pain of having lost it)


Not to mention this was all going through a huge crisis/emergency/war point where all these incidences and pain are heightened exponentially!

Yes, I know I'm overthinking this. emoticon
