Always Current Discussions of Different K-Dramas: K-DRAMA VIDEO CLUB!

Poor kitty!! I have purebred cats and they're more sensitive than others. I'm the VOMIT DEH JANG. You would be too if you had to clean up as much cat vomit as I do. I figured out that diaper wipes to start out with get the top layer of gunk up. Then I take some warm water, soak the carpet and blot it up with dry rags. Repeat once or twice until totally dry. It's not great for the latex in the carpet but it works really well to totally remove the stain.

You should, I'm sure it'll be interesting. emoticon

I'm going to watch episode 3 shortly. I hope we're moving into the 70s and out of the 50s on tonight's episode. It is time, in my opinion.

BBstl, your discussion of pearls was so much more informative & refined. Pearl Deh Jang sounds so much more lovely than Vomit Deh Jang! Of course neither of us could compare to Bangoo Deh Jang, not in a million years...

I have to admit I was looking forward to watching episode 3 today. I did fast forward through about 50% of it but what I did see was interesting. Especially the refugee scenes. I got a little teary eyed when Jun Hee found out about her parents.

It's really amazing how brutally cold and uncaring the adults that the little girls meet are, aren't they? I'm sure this was the case in Afghanistan, the Congo, and any other war-torn place; people become desensitized. I saw a really sad documentary on the Discovery history channel called Children of the Secret State. You can actually watch the footage online (make sure to copy/paste the url):
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6951629397402742053&q=north+korea
Heartbreaking but fascinating and worth seeing. The adults in this video remind me of the woman who kicked the little girls out of their rental unit.

I sure hope Jun Hee's dad manages to find the girls soon.

I finished episode 3 as well. Nothing hugely noteable. It was one of those development episodes. It was good to see them explore the facets and relationships between kang and jun hee.

Also kang hee's mom, shhhhhheeeeeeee's baaaaaaaaaack. ;)

One thing I found odd was remember Joon Hee's father? He's now driving around in a nice car, ordering the driver around to give Bong Sil the $500 to pay her rent, etc. What??? What am I missing here? He goes from some truck driver (although for the area they were in the first episode, they were considered rich), but then at the hospital he tells the doctor something about not being able to pay the bills. But now he's in this fancy car, has some driver. What's going on here? What am I seeing?

buppy yes I agree. It's kind of a sad portrayal, although true of the state of the human condition. In times of crisis, it's hard to find people who aren't out for numero uno.

Also the closing scene of ep3, the soldier tells the two kids something like "you little piece of ****" or something to that effect. I was annoyed/angered by that line for some reason.

Buppy thank you for your helpful hint!!! Cats love to surprise you every chance they get! Image

Well I saw eps 2 & 3 tonight. I just love the kids, the child actors are doing a really good job with their parts. I fell so sorry for Chang Peen , his mom is so mean to him I can't wait to find out what is up with that part of the story. As for the money Jun-hee's dad has , it is from his business in the first town. In the first episode they show the mom sewing up a vest or huge belt filled with stacks of money, and the dad says he won't wear it. She has it on at the crash site, when he is stopped later by the soliders he gives them some of the cash but they throw it back at him because on their side it won't get them anything. From the looks of it dad has used that money and gone back into the importing business and has been making some money off of the war. Poor Jun -hee being left behind by Chang Bong Sil. Peen was so sweet to make her the sign. I am glad she found Kang-Hee , who is street smart and should be able to keep them alive unitl they can get some adult help. I did almost cry a few times tonight , when they got kicked out of the hotel, when Jun-Hee got left at the Hotel and when they both thought their parents were killed. I hope things start to look up for these poor kids!

I agree. The kid actors are wonderful. Even the girl who plays joon hee has such great facial expressions when she gets mad. I am impressed by this cast, especially at their age.

I like the actress that plays Kang hee, but her character bugs me. She was so insensitive in the way she told Joon hee about the tragedy of her parents. Sometimes she's just so fickle and has an annoying personality and yet she's going to become the lead character? In this first segment it looks like joon hee is the lead. By the way is it jun hee or joon hee? In the F70s thread it's spelled joon, I forgot how they spell it on the dvd.

Speaking of the dvd, this is the first K-drama I've seen with so many typos, grammar issues (with our black box version). I mean it's not bad or anything, I can easily make it out and it honestly doesn't bother me, however, it is a stark reminder of how much hard work it is to put out a super quality sub - so I definitely do appreciate that aspect more.

Pooka, were you moved by the tunnel scene in ep 2, the part before and after that? To me that was the focal point of the series so far and the scene that touched me the most so far.

Fashion 70's Ep 3

As I was watching ep 3, Chang Bong Sil (Bin's mom) sounded more and more familiar. I think she's the actress who also played the mom in I'm Sorry I Love You.

Does anybody else think Gen. Kim sort of looks like Tommy Lee Jones? I swear they have similar features except the actor who plays Gen. Kim is Korean.

I haven't yet identified with the characters. I'm finding it hard to get into this drama. I thought after a couple of eps I would change my mind but it hasn't yet. There were so many scenes in the 1st 3 eps that made me say "Please pass the cheez balls". I find the dialogue/scenes trying too hard to win an Emmy or whatever is the equivalent in Korea.

Fashion 70s

Yes, so far it is hard to get into and I'm not really getting engaged with the characters, so far. I do reservedly like the series overall though, it's not in my top favorites or anything, but I do want to see this one to completion. I think the story here will really pick up a lot more once we get into the 70s.

Oh I'll probably see this through completion too. It's not as long as EOTS so even if it doesn't pick up, I can at least enjoy poking fun at it. Image
