pooka I don't want to have unrealistic expectations, so I'm going to try to keep myself grounded as far as MNIKSS is concerned. But I'm not sure any will beat SR in my eyes. We'll see. emoticon

Good recap on episode 6. I don't like the Peen character so far. He seems like some arrogant, playboy, law breaker. I don't know, he just feels kind a rebel without a cause. We'll see though. I do agree with you pooka about that it was nice that he was still thinking about the real jun-hee.

I'm surprised DY doesn't remember who the mom was, or does he? He was asking her questions if she was from that sari area. I forgot the name of that?

As far as the problems with the government, based on episode 6 I can only guess that they are using him as the fall guy - when the president asked DY's father what they should do. Since the US is punishing South Korea for trying to obtain nuclear power for energy - he's the one that's going to get the blame it seems?

How foul! KH's fake mom throws her job acceptance letter into the incinerator. How brilliant that they would have her do a double-take and realize that KH might find the letter in the incinerator after lighting the fire! A true slip up for KH's fake mom, who is normally quite sharp and on the ball!

I really wanted to watch episode 8 but stayed in control. I want to see what happens now that DY is on the island. The whole CIA scene makes me wonder if this is just Korean fantasy about the evil Americans or if the CIA really would abduct a Korean citizen and transport them to the States against his will?

My last comment: WHO IS THAT good looking half Asian CIA agent? He can't act worth a damn but he sure is good lookin' ? Hey BB when you get back from Mexico, fast forward and get a look at him!

Ha ha, Buppy I see both you and I have put in alerts for B when she gets back, I do know she took a couple discs with her incase she could find a dvd player over there. We just can't break away from these shows!

I can't belive DY (who is getting cuter as the show goes on, I digress again) was abducted by the CIA. But at least the actors playing the American's could almost act, that is diff. from the usual robotic wooden cutouts we get. So "JH's" dad finds out she might be looking for her mom and tells her he doesn't want her to marry DY. Dad is still having nightmares about finding the real JH. I think it is great that KH's mom slipped up and she did find her employement notice, it is about time her mom got caught doing something wrong. But now she won't leave the island because as we see at the end DY has gone there to hide instead of Hong Kong like he told Peen and JH. Ok Buppy I did have to give in and scan through a bit of the next ep. and it looks good!!

I'm falling behind as I was watching an anime series on encore channel last night.. I missed last night's episode 7 and last night's episode of EoTS (had it recorded to dvr though). I'll catch up tonight and watch both F70s 7/8 and EoTS to be back on track. Will comment later tonight on these in the respective threads.

Hey SR, you'll really enjoy episodes 7 and 8!

Here's my reply to episode 8:
I think this was the best episode so far. I am starting to really enjoy this series now. I should always know better huh? I'm always griping and complaining during the first two episodes of any series but then I'm totally hooked after a couple more! I love this episode because it takes place on the island and there's lots of misty blue seascape. The islands look so peaceful and Asian. I could almost imagine a brush painting coming to life.

The first scene where the women are shucking oysters is so funny! I love the one older woman who wants to plant her wet lips on dong youn! Then the way Yan Kun gripes and yells in a jealous fit is hilarious. Doesn't he remind you of every jilted male in any K-drama the way he goes on? He's perfectly cast too. He's ok looking -- could have been handsome had it not been for a couple major imperfections (including his personality!) Then when the ladies' oyster bowls get knocked over by Jun Hee and then they all erupt into a fit of "aigoo's" was funny too!

I did notice that my subtitles were really bad for this episode. The scene where DY gets bitten in the water was translated as "you bit a fish!" Yikes! I heard JH actually say something about a "bom" with a long o sound. That means snake. Once you know it's a snake it makes sense that she would get poisoned too if she was sucking out venom with her mouth (although I'm not sure if that happens in real life does it?)

The two things that left me confused were when her fake mom yells at DY and says that she's mad because he saw her body. What? He only saw her arms and legs. She looked fully clothed to me! Then she somehow knew about the "Bitten a fish" part without him explaining it. That was confusing.

It was sweet how quickly she declares her love for him at the end of the episode and how they sit there snuggled together. But what a mess this will cause with the fake Jun Hee in Seoul! Yipes!

I am still behind the group.I am now halfway through episode 6. I am fascinated by the story -so full of twists & turns .It's hard to like Doumei's fake mom,and it's hard to understand why Ji-eunie's dad would adopt another orphan and give her the same name.
What a disconnect for the partgoers !

The only thing that is easy to understand is why the fake mom would leave her daughter with the chief. A better life,plus she was already attached to him .Of course,if they swapped the kids back at that point ,we wouldn't need 22 more chapters ! I hope to catch up soon- maybe if we have a rainy weekend emoticon

Ep.8---- I want to know just how did "JH" figure out so quickly where DY was? I know she remembered when the girl on the application was from , but come on! So her and Peen decide to go and look for DY. I love Peen's room , where does he live Sea World?! Why all of a sudden did Peen's mom decide that she loves him and needs him now? Wow that is only about twenty something years to late lady. The oyster ladies were very funny, I also loved the gossipy one who wanted to kiss DY (hey, lady I am with you!) So DY is fishing and starts thrashing around in the water like he was bitten by a shark not a fish and KH saves him. She then passes out and he has to take care of her , of course he sees the bullet scar and questions her mom about it . He knows the war never reached the island so he wants to know what happened so he can try to help KH with her nightmares. So yes like Buppy said it is very sweet when KH tells DY that she loves him and they both say they staying on the island. But of course this is a drama so we know that will never happen without a bunch of obstacles to overcome first! emoticon

I can't wait for ep 9 and the arrival of Peen and "JH"on the island.

I'm caught up as well. I just finished watching episodes 7 and 8. I agree this show is getting better and better. Episodes 7 and 8 were by far my favorite ones so far!

I have to say I am really enjoying the whole time frame of this series. They seem to be covering the 70s in a tastefully reserved manner, before the real 70's craze. The way this show is being portrayed, I am often reminded of the timeless elegance of the 50s and 60s shows of America.

It looks like Kang hee's mom's lie is starting to fall apart slowly. Dong Young once again was asking her at the end of episode 8 about the war situation and how did the real Jun Hee get that wound from the gunshot.

Can't wait to see episode 9 tonight!

Did you catch Peen flirting with the gay fashion guys earlier? It made me seriously wonder if he goes that way too! That room is just over the top! DY is very handsome! I'm with you there!

Ep 9--We get hear the story about the woman ringing the bell on the island untill her husband came back to her. I thought it was sad later when KH is standing there later ringing it and crying for DY. So the President came and took DY back, he left but took KH's bullet with him. JH think she sees and then tries to find her mom on Jin island. She later find out DY is home now and leaves Peen and is supposed to go back to Seoul but stops to get the pearl from the pawnshop guy where she sold it when they were kids. Peen in the meantime is recovering the jewels he was trying to smuggle when he was almost caught the last time, the police give chase and he meets KH and ends up handing off the jewels to her. Buppy I did see Peen flirting with the gay nephew and that guy was so excited today because he thought Peen was back when JH's dad came to visit! The design shop people are verry funny.
