btw, you would have enjoyed our viewing of Iljimae last spring - have you seen it?
Sorry to say I missed the orginal Iljimae (with Lee Jun-ki), which many have said is the definitive version... however I did watch The Return of Iljimae a few months ago. I like the way they played it for a few laughs, not too serious...Image

I'll go back to lurking, I'm booked up till the end of the year with my KDrama viewing schedule. I'll be sure to comment from time to time. Happy viewing.

addie, sorry you had a bad experience with City Hall on mysoju. I watched it there and didn't have trouble.

laars, thanks for posting the show info. wow, this is a HUGE cast. Mi Rae seems a bit delusional about her appeal to the opposite sex! emoticon I'm not getting that Jo Guk is so handsome that all the girls should be swooning. He does seem like a snob who thinks that the people of Inju are a bunch of hicks. I don't really understand why he was sent there instead of allowing him to continue in the Central Government. Big Brother appears to be a guy who is pulling a lot of government strings and JG is one of his men.

Miss Baendengi! That was really funny when the staff was trying to find the best looking minnows. Apparently there are a lot of beauty contests in Korean towns.

I totally spaced and didn't realize that Kim Sun Ah was in this. Much to my delight, there she was in all her bumbling glory. The girl always makes me laugh. And with the cast of wacky characters so far, this one is ripe with opportunities for hilarity.

I think you're right about Jo Gook, bb, he certainly acts the snob and is arrogant in his treatment of people he doesn't like. But I guess that just sets the stage for a dramatic turn-around in his personality, someday if Mi Rae has her way. But her prospects don't look so good at this point ... hard to imagine the events to come for that to happen.

Was that not the most hilarious scene where she stinks JG's bathroom, sheepishly saying "I don't think you should use the bathroom just yet...the toilet is old and the water doesn't run..." and he immediately calls someone to get the toilet replaced emoticon

episode 3 ... laughed so much tonight - Kim Sun Ah is so brilliant a comedienne. Her bumbling dance moves had me rolling on the floor ... kicking the other girl in the can-can was too much. (We all know she really can dance - remember that fantasy dance scene in MNIKSS where she steamed up the screen) And more potty humor - Stinking up the meditation room - "is it better with the sound?"emoticon

Seems our snob, Jo Guk has a soft side after all, with a damaged childhood to help explain it all. I'm beginning to like him a little now that he's revealed just how vulnerable he is. Who is the power-broker behind him?? And what is his relationship to Jo Guk's mother?? Is he Jo Guk's father who abandoned them??
I guess all will be revealed in good time.

I guess I don't have to say it, but I will - I'm enjoying this one immensely.

Oh and did I mention I'm really enjoying all the eye-candy? Sorry ladies, don't think they have a Mr. Baendengi pageant.emoticonemoticon

laars, I thought of you during the beauty pageant scenes, I knew you were enjoying that!

I wasn't able to see ep.2 (mysoju not working) so I hope I"ll be able to follow along. Ep 3 was really funny, I especially loved when MR re-does the entire pageant program in a way that benefits her. And she turns out to be "Inju Boats", too. I'm not clear on why she has to hide her participation in the pageant from the mayor. Her inflated self-regard continues to be funny.

Yes, didn't it look like Big Brother was the man in the car when JG was a child? But I don't think JG knows that.

I just finished Ep 2 so I am a couple of days behind. I agree that was Hyungnim in the car when he was a child.

Does anyone know the origin of adeubiteu? 아르바이트 (part time job) I knew it wasn't Korean and it didn't make sense for "part time job" in English. My teacher thought it was German but didn't remember for sure. I don't know German so I was no help.

emoticon Episode 4 - Again - I laughed so hard I think I woke up the family. Oh the talent part of the pageant ... those girls were so bad - and then, such a shocker MR was quite graceful (see KSA really can dance) The faked fainting scene, firmly gripping the crown while airhead contestant #5 tries to wrest it from her grip - brilliant comedy emoticon. Poor JG - his back is so tender every time after carrying MR...I couldn't help laughing just like his assistant.

Grabbing JG's hand and claiming he's rubbing her thigh....emoticon. Oh so much to laugh about I can't recall all of it. But I guess we all saw that cliff hanger coming - no?

Glad you're with us Cap - I have no doubt you'll catch up. Stay with us this is a fun one. I don't recognize that word - adeubiteu. where did you see it? maybe the translators misspelled something?

adeubiteu

Just a guess, but it sounds like Konglish to me. If you can forget the spelling and just listen to the sounds, it might make sense. I can't think of a Korean example at this moment, but last night I was watching a Japanese show and the speaker said Pido Pipa. In English he was referring to Pied Piper.

Does 'ad bit' fit the scene in any way? Were they talking about PR or advertising?
