It is a little freaky that we are constantly on the same page here pooka. I was going to type this last night but had some other engagements that postponed my posting about this episode 8. But as soon as I saw that chipping I was thinking about it constantly within those few minutes, and then when they both went outside a few minutes later I noticed the Trump insignia. I was LOLing so much and wondering what their maintenance people have been doing. Obviously Trump is spending less money on that and more on his hair care products. Image

For me the most powerful part of the series so far was when she was sleeping at the hospital and heon checked his messages and he heard the one she left him about her father. That was powerful. I got right to that edge where I can claim some strange wind hit my eye, but nothing more. Don't need any kleenex here! emoticon

The scene where Hee Jin met with President Nah was also telling. I actually felt sympathy for both of them. I totally can see where Nah is coming from. She's being very protective of both HJ and Heon.

MNIKSS Ep 8

That cracked me up too. "So have you been to Japan? How about China? You should go. I'll pay for all the expenses."Image class blockquote pooka67 wrote:

Right. Some kind of millionaire's quarters, huh? So is it the same building where Han Yoo-Il (Dennis Oh) from Sweet Spy lived?

Spoony Men Parade? I'll meet you guys in Disneyland!Image

Heon's behavior last night with constantly yelling, getting into a tirade, breaking things.

I've seen enough Korean Dramas to know this happens often, however, I've never seen this kind of brutish behavior displayed so consistently and overtly in a series before. I was wondering is this kind of common among the masses in South Korea or is it an exagerration?
Hey, it took me a while to get to these posts because I've been so far behind, but SR, I think it does happen more in Korea! My teacher says (and from personal experience) Korean men want to be "macho" Definitely met more Korean men who have no trouble with letting their emotions show than men who bottle it up!

Here's some more contextual info from fendercat's post on the MNIKSS thread, pg. 24 as re: ep. 2:

53:47) The soup KSS is eating was 'clotted cow blood soup' which is known to be good for cure hangover so no wonder HJH was so freaked out seeing her eating it...
I thought JH was disgusted with the way Samsoon ate and how she poured all the red hot sauce from the pickled dish into the soup. That alone looked pretty gross to me, not knowing it was clotted cow blood soup.
I have the kim-chee noodle soup sometimes over at the Santa Monica Place foodcourt, but I don't think they have a clotted cow blood option. emoticon Clotted blood is OK, but I don't think it's great or anything.

We also get to hear part of the Momo story (the sales of that book skyrocketed after this show, it is still sold out at our Borders!) as SS tells it to Mi-Joo.
What is the momo book?

How about that beautiful girl with CTH? Pretty great to see our KSS looking gorgeous in real life! Now might be a good time to point out that she is 5'7" and gained about 15 lbs to play KSS, so that for the drama she weighed around 135. People, trust me - this is not heavy for that height! She had to wear all those baggy layers of T shirts to look bigger and then rely on all the other characters just saying she was "fat" all the time to keep the audience convinced (IMO). And of course having that tiny Hee Jin around didn't hurt.
Sorry about hte multiple posts folks but I'm catching up. The KSS's weight issue fascinates me! I was trying to figure out how much she must have weighed for the show and my guess was around 135! Thanks for the proof BB! In the States, that's slender! In Korea, where girls weigh 90 lbs, she is considered really chubby. Isn't it out of control?
I just love that they cast this actress and made her "fat." She still looks so good even though everyone thinks she's so overweight. Yu Hee Jin is super skinny next to her but I really think KSS is so much more attractive. It's nice the show really does highlight KSS's great personality and lovely face.

For more info, please go to page 23 of the forum's MNIKSS thread and read fendercat's posts. He is a member from Seoul who originally came on to do corrections of the first subs - which must have been just godawful. The Yesasia subs we're using reflect his corrections just about 100%, but his posts also include lots of great incidental info that is so much fun to know. I can't recommend it enough. He did a post for every episode. (I know, what a great guy!)
fendercat's translation corrections are for the original fansubs. The subtitles shown when the series aired in Southern California were much better, but fendercat's posts go beyond mere translation notes and contain a wealth of valuable info on the cultural context.

Always Current Discussions of Different K-Dramas: K-DRAMA VIDEO CLUB!

wow, thanks everyone, for not jumping on me about yesterday's post! Sorry, I managed to watch two episodes and not even realize it, so I wrote about the fight between Mom and Mgr. Oh at the restaurant that actually happened in Ep. 9. (today). Boy, JH sure does take a lot of beatings at the hands of women. And little did he think that his contract dating scheme would end with a wet furious mother, Sam Soon hurt and unemployed, no pastry chef for him once again, and a sad staff at the Bon Appetit. He'd better be looking out that window and thinking pretty hard right about now.

Re: Always Current Discussions of Different K-Dramas: K-DRAMA VIDEO CLUB!

We probably couldn't jump on you because we ( I) are ahead too ! I'm sorry ,I didn't have much on ,and I just couldn't stop my self ! No <I haven't finished the series ,and now that I'll be busy I'll be able to slow my self down. I'm going to rewatch episode 10 tomorrow so I can comment on it >
Things are a bit jumbled in my head ,so I would just like to make a few general comments . I think the soundtrack is fabulous ,including Paint it Black .and I notice on YA that there are now 2 volumes of soundtrack ....I may as well order them both ( who am I kidding? )

I just love this show- I could see my self watching it over & over .Like getting home from work and thinking,
Hmm,this feel like a Sam Soon kind of a day .I love KSS ,because she is everywoman .There are the Hee Jins of the world ,and then there are the rest of us > I mean ,Kss is not fat or homely ,just not a HeeJin .She sings slightly off key,( though I love when she sings that song at the piano ) and the way she interacted with MiJo (momo-note to self ,another item to look for ) was heartwarming .JH seemed like an idiot in the beginning ,but the fact that he can recognize her qualities makes him special ,too. Maybe NOW,I'm ready for that soju

I can't help myself ( I promise I'll stop soon ) but I had one more idea for the fantasy CJK convention at Disneyland .After the "Spoony Men Parade " the spoony men would be auctionned off for dinner dates .All proceeds to charity ,of course . emoticon .Hasta manana ,everybody

ooooooh, yah, addie, you are a smooth one to throw in the charity angle! If we make it a really good Korean charity, the spoony men won't be able to refuse to take part! Pooka's polishing her script for the Other Prince's 2nd Love and I'm working on the First Annual Hyun Bin Scholarship for Deserving Young Korean Actor/Athletes. Which, obviously, will go to Hyun Bin, enabling him to pursue his English and acting studies here in the U.S. In my house.

I have to offer an opinion on the OSTs. Once b4 I agreed w/Pooka that the 2nd one is the important one to buy but I've been listening a lot to both and now think that if you love the drama, you do need both OSTs.
