Yes, isn't wonderful to have someone to talk to about these dramas.
Now group here's a funny thing that happened to me last week. As you all know I am a real English professor--well last week I was at lunch with a group of students and I said something about being addicted to Korean dramas, and one young man--the least likely candidate I would have thought--says that he loves them too and had been watching them for years. This student and I must have spent 4 hours just talking about Bizarre Bunch and past dramas. Now I have a student I can talk too--I think more people watch these dramas than I expected, and they come from both sexes and all races. It was funny and fun.

My funniest experience is at my hair stylist's. She is Japanese (raised in Japan) and always thought it quite unbelievable that I would be interested in Asian dramas, or anything Asian for that matter. Now, when I come in, all the while my stylist is doing my hair, the other one (if free) is sitting right beside me chatting away about the latest goings on in our dramas! LOL
Back to Kiwoong, I thought it was really cute when Haein asked him how he knew so much about women and he replied that he knew about everything... except studying. That about sums him up, I'd say. He is incredibly observant of and understanding of life in general, tempered with a really good and kind heart towards all.
He was right on the money, too, in his comment that Sukhyun needs to learn about the world. Sukhyun is a good person, too, and his main lacking is exactly as Kiwoong described him. It's fun to see Sukhyun grow out of his sheltered self, beginning to slowly understand not only other people, but experiencing and realizing his own new feelings. He and Jongnam are an incredibly cute couple together. Each of them certainly has what the other needs, don't they?

This must be contagious lately with meeting up with strangers and finding out they are Asian drama afficionados.... I went into Costco last week and as I looked at large screen HDV TV the salesman was there and somehow I mentioned watching Japanese and Korean dramas. Wow!! He said 'I am married to a Japanese girl and she watches every night and I love the dramas... she translates them for me'...... What I wouldn't give for a live in interpreter.....
It really would be so nice to be able to have a conversation with someone over a cup of tea about our favourite shows and dramas. Well this forum is the next best thing.. =)

Well, people... I was the butt of jokes and pun when I told everbody in a family gathering that I am a K-drama fan and swoon over Bae Yong Joon, Song Seung heon and Kwang Sang Woo. Me, a 60yrs old grandma! Then I showed them one of my K-drama dvds. The next morning, all my sisters-in-law and nieces were lining up my doorstep trying to borrow my dvds. Not only that, my friends and cousins as far as Texas and Florida want to see it too.
I come here everyday to read all your comments and discussions. It's so pleasing to know people have the same feelings or reactions like mine. I have followed your discussions of MSMD, OMR and My Lovely Family, but Bizarre Bunch is much more fun and have lots of endearing characters.

so nice to chat w/ya' all . . . and, if you want to hear what some others have to say (some new slants and far-reaching affects), read the January 2006 issue, Feature story about the drama world and some of your favs, in KoreAm. This is their best issue to date -- lots of good stuff!

Here is their tease from cover, "Oh So Dramatic Korean TV Series Snag KA Audiences One Tearjerker At A Time" . . . (YAH! what about the totally white population? nothing said!) . . . it's a great 5-pg read, w/pix of some fans, etc. . . . I put a note under "Discussion" re Kr. Culture Questions, etc., but don't think many ppl go to that topic . . .
Who knows -- you could be quoted in the article . . . you know, there are cpl 'profs' interviewed, some students, etc.

P.S. - in "Letters" section, a 'must-read' is letter from 31-yr KA girl who talks about KA men!!! Wonder if she speaks the truth . . . ummmm . . . interesting . . .

Lastly, here in VA, the episode I had watched earlier tonight on "The Bizarre Bunch" was about Nara and Jongnam bumping into each other when Jongnam was rushing back to Kiwoong's infomercial presentation... yeah, we're that behind. But it's cool reading the comments here and getting my own sneak peeks. I saw the preview for tomorrow night's episode, which I'm sure everyone has seen already. Looks like Kiwoong's mom, Minsook, and Sukhyun are standing right beside each other while looking at examination scores for some school?? I'm only piecing together what I thought I saw in this preview, but anyway, I see how Minsook is looking up and staring at Sukhyun while he's not even aware. She looked as if she was proud and in awe... reading the past posts in this message board - Minsook could be Sukhyun's biological mom? Can someone further explain this to me? Has Nara known - was this a family secret? I have missed some earlier episodes, so if someone/anyone could fill me in, that would be great! Thx!
