nsheldon: last nite's ep was also a downer for me. But maybe S is just being a dutiful son, trying to please his mom. Even if they were talking about marriage and honeymoon, their body language did not convey any passion at all. I want to see love projecting from their eyes, facial expression, holding hands, any tenderness. So far, I have not seen it between S & H. But the sideglances S gave J on the nite they had firewords said a lot to me. Have you seen Memories of Beautiful Days with Choi Ji Woo and Lee Byung Hun? Choi and Lee have a very good chemistry and with just stares, no dialogue at all, they can project a very passionate feeling for each other. I love this K-drama to the max and have seen it several times.

Sukhyun's behavior is rather odd. It seems strange to me, too, that he wants to marry Haein so matter of factly. The only thing I can think of is that in their culture arranged marriages are common and if you aren't repelled by the prospective mate, you go ahead and marry the person. And that's how family life works out there, growing to love one another if initial hot sparks don't seem to exist.
Clearly, there are hot sparks between Sukhyun and Jongnam. That girl boggles his mind, shakes up his life to the core, while calling out of him strong masculine urges to protect her and make her happy with little pleasures. Her responses are incredibly gratifying to a guy like him, too. Her gleeful, genuine pleasure at his "gifts" are what make guys feel really good—being appreciated. But Sukhyun is so out of touch with his own emotions that I think he really doesn't get it in his brain, yet. Plus, he may be viewing his long term life/marriage on his own social scale and Jongnam is someone he would never, ever think of as being an acceptable marriage match.
With Haein, I think they are too much alike = too boring. But I am also concerned at Haein's comment to Kiwoong that she feels like she's always losing when she's around Sukhyun, that he's too perfect. Yes, he's a good marriage prospect for her, but even she isn't feeling that much of a spark towards Sukhyun, either. The main emotion Haein is feeling these days, it seems, is just a territorial jealousy... that someone else is coming along and taking her man, or that his attention is going to another woman.
I really enjoyed seeing Sukhyun stand up to Queen Nara in refusing to fire Jongnam! And Nara's end run around him to Haein to get her to do the dirty work—too much. I'd like to strap Nara to a rocket and blast her up to the orbiting space station for a couple years!

nsheldon: I do have an advantage over you. Although I have not totally retired (I worked at home part-time doing accounting work for clients) so I have very flexible time. I work when I need to like meeting deadline for reports but other than that, I'm a virtual couch potato... wait, a bed-potato because I watch my k-dramas in my bedroom and my dvd player is all-code. My collection of k-dramas will rival covers an entire wall and all of these are sub-titled. Yesasia cannot translate k-dramas fast enough to satisfy me so I also go on-line with dvdfromkorea.com.
I'm glad that we, here in So. Cal, can see all these tv dramas for free. Sometimes, I tape some episodes but I often forget. So far, there has'nt been any k-drama recently shown here that I would like to buy. There was one on channel 18 shown last year called Jewel of the Palace that I would like to buy but it was so expenses. It's like over $100 per volume and there are 4 volumes to complete the set. So I just rented it.

And let's all not forget that jealousy isn't love anyway. It's seeing someone as a possesion that you have to guard carefully lest they be taken by someone else. That's Haein and what Sukhuyn is to her--her "perfect" image of a husband--and she wants to guard the image she has formed in her mind--jealousy isn't related to love at all in this couple.

You know, I'm not so sure that Sukhyun really suggested getting married quickly. Haein said that their mothers want a wedding soon. Sukhyun didn't say he wanted that, did he? Wasn't his reply only that some people get married within a month of meeting? Not that he wanted to get married quickly.
My recollection (which may not be accurate) is that he never really said he wanted to get married at all; he just sort of gave general responses back to whatever Haein was saying. It didn't seem like he was expressing any personal inner feelings of his own. The only intimacy in that conversation was when the basketball forced them into a duck and cover position.
My take on that conversation from Sukhyun's point of view is that it was a ho-hum, so what else is new type conversation. He certainly didn't display anything (words or actions) that indicated he was in a rush to marry Haein. It could even be said that it was a rather Freudian type comment when he told her she might regret losing him to someone else if she waits too long.
On Haein's part, wanting to stave off the marriage to a later date is also not the indication of an eager bride. Like Sukhyun, I see Haein as a person who isn't all that clear on her feelings, either. There have been too many llittle indicators lately that, on a gut level, she senses this isn't a good relationship for her, either.

Wow. Well, I've already said this before, we on the east cost (and I'm in VA) are way behind you guys on the west coast. But I sure do love the sneak peeks. So far from what I've seen earlier tonight... it was the episode where Sukhyun drove his younger cousin/Kiwoong's younger sister to where her her college entrance examinations were going to take place... I do see Haein's jealousy. She and others have been talking about Sukhyun buying that gaudy-looking outfit for Jongnam. Jongnam is just sooooooo sweet and bright. I'm rooting for her. She's also a tomboy and I think it's so cool that she's got Sukhyun's attention... as well as Kiwoong's friendship. I just hope S & J will end up together. But then, I also hope K & J will end up together. What a toss-up!
I'm just really confused about what's going to happen to Sukhyun and Kiwoong's relationship from being cousins to actually being brothers??!!
Oh, that Nara is such a sourpuss. But I love seeing what she's going to try and pull next.
Okdoo's voice is quite annoying, but oh, well - there's always a weirdo and it is called, "The Bizarre Bunch."
I loved how Haein's mom was a bit jealous and protective of her husband when Okdoo visited their house along with her boss or whoever that lady was that Haein's dad used to like in the past.
Nice to have this show keep me preoccupied with all these characters!
