K-Drama: 별난여자, 별난남자 (The Bizarre Bunch/Peculiar Woman,Man)
class blockquote But why is it that in all K-drama I have seen, it is always important to please someone specially parents or elders rather than tell the truth. Koreans seems favor hiding the truth in order to please or not to offend parents or elders which results to misunderstanding. But the truth comes always and the end result is shock or embarrassment. True, true. In Korean culture as well as all Asian culture, you must always respect your elders and most especially honor your parents and grandparents as if they were the highest class of royalty (which is why bowing, for Koreans, in the formal way to our parents and grandparents on holidays or very special occasions is a very important custom; this is performed with the back of your hands up to your forehead from a standing position then slowly kneeling and bowing where the palms of your unmoved hands touch the floor). Sometimes, this great honor leads up to the tremendous pressure of trying so hard to please and make others proud. The child figures that if no one will know, then no one will get hurt. But then irony eventually strikes and backfires. People will always talk and find out the disturbing truths. Big web of lies originally form only to not hurt or make others feel pity. That's it... it's the pity that we, Korean children, try to avoid. We are too proud (like our parents, grandparents and ancestors) and we just don't want to disappoint. We sometimes play along with our elders' hopes and/or dreams in order to make them happy... at least for the moment.

thanx in advance.....^_*Haein walked in with Sukhyun and was introduced to Granny as his girlfriend. Granny collapsed. Jongnam stayed home alone, sadly, with Mr. Pooh. Later, Nara questioned Haein about her relationship with Kiwoong but Sukhyun kept answering for her, protecting her. At Kiwoong's, Granny is questioning Kiwoong, not believing that they were only friends, especially since he took her to Jeju-do Island.
Next day, Sukhyun wants to go to lunch with Haein, but she's out and busy. He takes Jungnam instead. She eats chicken feet at a tent stand, which he creeps out. They leave, he buys them some fruit drinks and gets two scratcher cards for a sweepstakes contest. Hers is blank, so he gives his to her. It is a winner, tickets to an amusement park. He leans over very close to her face to read the result. They have another one of those dangerously close moments. He grabs the ticket back, and plays keep-away with her, since she was expecting to keep the scratcher if it was a winner. The episode ends with Sukhyun having a great time keeping the ticket out of Jongnam's reach by holding it overhead, while she is trying to grab it—which, of course, puts her very close to his face and body.

Semi-OT: Hanja?
That is the term, right? This appears on KBS's pages for the show: ★女★男 . What's it mean?
EDIT: OK, I found them in a Kanji dictionary. They mean woman and man in Hanja also, I presume?

"He grabs the ticket back . . . "
because Jongnam said she was going to take Kiwoong to the Amusement Park w/her.

K-Drama: 별난여자, 별난남자 (The Bizarre Bunch/Peculiar Woman,Man)
I'm not so sure, but in earlier episodes, I believe Grandma stated that Kiwoong was her favorite. When he was very young, she wouldn't let Kiwoong out of her sight. I'm not sure if oldest grandsons are favored, maybe she just like Kiwoong more.
Sometimes, when I watch this drama, I feel like I should get in the show and b****slap Nara. How dare she slap Jongnam's hand like that. I think she needs a slappin'.
Ahh, I truly enjoy seeing Sukhyun's jealousy over Kiwoong. It is so funny. He always tries to shove it off. He always references to work for an excuse.
"Hey! Stop fooling around and get back to work!" LOL, but a jealous one.
I also like the way Jongnam is able to make Sukhyun do anything. Hmm, once that fire starts to light up between them, there will be alot of interesting things to look forward to. bamp chicka bow waaww.....
