Re: K-Drama: 별난여자, 별난남자 (The Bizarre Bunch/Peculiar Woman,Man)
I don't get it?! What is it with the wig?! Does JongNam plan to surprise her boss (KiWoong's aunt) after she comes back from the wedding?! That doesn't even make sense. It's not like the aunt is ever in a jovial mood. Where did that wig come from in the first place?!
Why would Sukhyun bring the dog to his aunt's apartment? Why would KiWoong's mom make Sukhyun take the dog? NOTHING makes sense in this show!
I still think the chemistry between the actors and actresses isn't there. There are 2 male and 2 female leads (the younger cast), but neither combinations are desirable. Kiwoong and Haein obviously are not a good match. JongNam and Kiwoong are not a good match either. Two idiots do not make it right. Sukhyun and JongNam are not right for each other....although the writers may find it fun to put them together. Sukhyun and Haein look compatible, but they don't have chemistry. I don't think the actress who plays Haein is pretty enough. I keep thinking of her nasty role in The Windflower. The actor who plays Sukhyun is too good-looking and thus offset the balance you will need if the writers want to pair up these 4 actors/actresses. I think it's bad casting choice by the PD to choose these 4 people. They need an actress who is actually pretty to counter-balance Sukhyun's good looks. Too bad the actor who plays Sukhyun needs more acting lessons.
Sorry to be so negative about this show. I guess I was a little disappointed with it after OMR, My Precious Child, and MSMD. I gave it 2 weeks and the show still rubs me the wrong way.
I mean some shows just have that sparkle. For example, the Wedding. Although the plot surrounds 4 people and the circuitous relationships. It's frustrating to watch, but in a good way. For some reason, these 4 people worked and have great on-screen chemistry that's un-explanable. You go away feeling great about the show, even though it made you cry!

K-Drama: 별난여자, 별난남자 (The Bizarre Bunch/Peculiar Woman,Man)
Nchristi said:"One thing is for sure—BB is a blessed relief from MSMD! Though it has its serious side(s), basically it has a lot more light-hearted and fun characters."
Amen! Last night was the first night without MSMD and I too was waiting for that music that seared my heart. When Bizarre Bunch went off my heart was not hurting; I didn't have dreams that kept me awake--I didn't feel like crying after seeing Ki-joon weeping for the millionth time. I miss it---hahahah. I was dizzy after the initial episode of Bizarre bunch, and I agree the women characters aren't as pretty as the the "men." I wonder if I'll ever catch on to who is who--MSMD had fewer characters to keep up with. Guess that's why this is called the Bizarre bunch.
Good thing I can watch OMR during the day so I can still see those cuties Ki-joon and Jae-min. Okay nchristi, I admit I so like Ming-jae Kang in this drama. He is a good actor (I don't know his real name). Now I wait for my 11a.m. fix of those two actors.
I think even the scenery is bizarre in this drama. But what I want to know is what is all this preoccupation with bathroom problems in Korean drama--that must be a cultural humor thing--someone is always rushing to the bathroom.
Well looking forward to something lighter. OMR is serious, but it's not as gut wrenching--nowhere near--the unrelenting pain of MSMD. Hope MSMD comes out on video with subtitles so I can torture myself at will--hahahahaha.

Re: K-Drama: 별난여자, 별난남자 (The Bizarre Bunch/Peculiar Woman,Man)
class blockquote Why would Sukhyun bring the dog to his aunt's apartment? Why would KiWoong's mom make Sukhyun take the dog? NOTHING makes sense in this show! Sukhyun offered to take the dog; Kiwoong's mom didn't make him do it. Since Sukhyun is the one responsible for the dog in the first place, it seems only logical to me that he'd be the one to step up and find a better home for it. I was thinking last night that he was taking the dog to Jongnam, since she was rather fond of the poor little creature right after Sukhyun hit it with his car. But then, does Sukhyun know that Jongnam works for and lives with his aunt? Or, is it only Kiwoong who knows that?
I liked the wig scene. Made me laugh. I think I like Jongnam because she is so spunky and off-the-wall.
On Kiwoong, I don't see him as being particularly lazy. He's not ambitious in the stereotypic manner, but then he's not exactly made of the stuff to be a PhD candidate, either. His calling in life seems to be as a Super Hero of some sort, his attention easily diverted to the rescue du jour. He strikes me as a guy with a bigger heart than brain.

Re: K-Drama: 별난여자, 별난남자 (The Bizarre Bunch/Peculiar Woman,Man)
Thanks nchristi for the welcome . And yes it seems like BB will be a little more lighthearted than MSMD. We are a little behind here in the Delaware Valley, however, even knowing what is going to happen does not deter me personally from watching my K-dramas at all, (smile). Anyhooo, I plan to hang in there and see what happens. I am also enjoying OMR which feeds my craving to see the old Kijoon from MSMD still doing his thing.

Re: K-Drama: 별난여자, 별난남자 (The Bizarre Bunch/Peculiar Woman,Man)
Well, I've now seen a few episodes - there are lots of characters and I still need to have them settle in for me to figure out the relationships. Ont he surface it sure does seem like a Bizarre Bunch!
I, too, don't get all the toilet humor. It has been 'overdone' in the last drama or two so I am hoping that we don't see so much here. It is funny but enough is enough.
This may be too early to ask but since MIL (or grandma) is nasty to DIL (Ki-Woong's mom - don't have all the names straight yet) why doesn't she live with the rich DIL (Nara) that she seems to like better? Could it be that Nara does not want her? Or is it because she lives with the eldest son as part of tradition? If he has some money issues, could that change?

I think in Korean culture, as in many Asian cultures, MILs always live with the oldest son's family. So when they pass away, someone (usually the oldest son's family) will do the annual rituals marking the birthdays and passings of ancestors.
