Neo Matriarchy class ul Motherly love stems from strong instinct to nurture a life. It is a stronghold against difficulties of everyday life. Motherly love will tend the abandoned and the injured.

Motherly Love to the Rescue class ul Motherly love stems from strong instinct to nurture a life. It is a stronghold against difficulties of everyday life. Motherly love will tend the abandoned and the injured.

The Innocent will focus on the proactive side of motherly love. By raising a child, a woman gains the strength to live day by day and to become a better, more capable person for the child.

Women vs. the World
class ul Some blame a widow that she is the cause of her husband’s death. Others say she was destined to misfortune. Without thinking twice, people would hurt a poor woman who had just lost her beloved husband. Widows go through terrible pains, but because of the pain, they gain inner strength and an insight to understand the less fortunate better.

The Innocent Woman is the story about a woman who comfort and nurture others despite social prejudices. She forgives and becomes friends with those who hurt her in the past.

Baek Il-hong is a kindred soul. It seems like the macho world is unfit place for her, but she will prove otherwise. Her kindness and generosity will make a difference. People around her will realize the true power of love.
CAST/CHARACTERS

Image
Bak So-yeon as Baek Il-hong class ul Il-hong has the prettiest smile. Her father named her after a flower that blooms beautiful red flowers for a hundred days. He has always stressed that a woman should have integrity.

She is unable to throw things [away]. She will even save crumpled gift wraps. She will go as far as to pick up things that are thrown away by others.

She easily trusts people and cannot turn a blind eye to the poor. She has been cheated many a time but still she cannot stop loving others.

Her strength is her smile. She always smiles even when she is sorry, in despair, or heartbroken. Because she smiles so much, some may think that she is out of her senses at times.

Her weakness is forgetfulness. Because she forgets easily, she would not dare to lie. So, she is truthful to each and every [one] all the time. If she is happy, she shows it every possible way.

She likes almost everybody except for those who make simple things complicated or who intimidate and belittle others.

Image
Kim Gap-su as Seo Jun-man class ul Jun-man is Deok-hi’s husband. He was born poor and hated being poor. So, he studied hard and graduated from the most prestigious school in the country. He started working at a construction company as an architect. His father-in-law, who owns a furniture company Myeong-jang, met Jun-man and liked him. So, the father-in-law scouted Jun-man to succeed him and marry his daughter, Deok-hi.

However, Deok-hi and her mother were only concerned about money and thought little of Jun-man and his family. Their materialistic attitude has made Jun-man rethink his married life.

Jun-man has a kind smile. He is slow to speak and adheres to rules. He always obeys the traffic light. His weakness is his indecisiveness.

Living with his in-laws is not all pleasure. He feels uncomfortable eating with the in-laws and has acquired a habit of taking pills for digestion.
Image

Yi Si-hwan as Cha Seung-pyo class ul Seung-pyo is the head of an interior design company. He studied interior design in Britain. He has earned a good reputation in the industry.

He gets bored at things easily and throws them right away. He is extremely picky with food. He despises people who cannot separate work and personal affairs. He is inconsiderate and selfish. He is not tolerant with mistakes and will make hurtful comments intentionally.

For business, however, he can put on a pleasant smile. Many fall for it believing he is a nice, kind gentleman.
Image
Choe Hwan-jun as Jang Nam-gi class ul His motto is women are half of the world. He doesn’t have an honest job but makes living by cheating wealthy, older women. Thanks to their generosity, he lives day by day.

He seems to have a sixth sense for detecting loaded women, his potential targets. He will sweet-talk them and cash in.

He dresses in luxury brands head to toe. He may look sleek on the outside but he is never to be trusted. He is good at taking advantage of women and doesn’t feel guilt normally. However, the only time the conscienceless brute felt sorry was when he exploited Il-hong. Deep in his heart, he wants to make amends to Il-hong.

Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)

Good Morning Family emoticon

I've been watching this drama on KBS World, here in NYC for weeks now. I find it interesting how the network stopped showing a drama, in the middle, I'd been watching for months and started this drama without notice.

Turns out this one is pretty good, but I'd sure like to know what happened on the other drama. emoticon

Later emoticon

Thanks, Creidesca. (I'm still bummed at them either combining 12 episodes of Ajumma into 4-5 nights or flat out cutting it off. Arrrgh...) class blockquote smoochie1 wrote:

Smoochie, if you're referring to "Ajumma," you can watch the episodes here on Veoh/desma123

Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)

Episode one was a shockeroo, wasn't it? emoticon Guess this is going to be somewhat of a tongue-in-cheek comedy.

I had to laugh at the wife cooking that pig's head. Gross everybody out??? She opens the pot and it's snout is sticking up. Then she drops it on the rooftop deck and it slides all over as she tries to grab it. (For those who may be wondering, it is traditional to have a pig's head at the opening of a business venture—it brings luck and success. You've probably noticed this ceremony on entertainment news at the official pre-production meetings of new dramas. Everyone prays before it and stuffs cash in its mouth, ears, etc.)

Such a lovely, happy couple, the husband so devoted and sweet to his wife and daughter. Next we see them all gleeful as can be at their new small business opening. He is knocked off the ladder outside and we see a "good luck" floral arrangement being returned to the florist to change it into a funeral basket!

I could do without the hysterical woman character showing up at the funeral, but it looks as though she's going to be our zany middle-aged woman for this drama.

Overall, I have to say this was a pretty good first episode. Most of the time, the beginning can be tiresome and uninteresting until it gets into gear—especially in these 7:30p dramas. This one looks more hopeful than some I've endured.

K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)

I have been watching this on and off for awhile on KBS and it is ok, just ok. I guess I am too used to enjoying Ajhuma and with this show I am finding it really hard to find a lot of characters to likein this one. Oh well.

So I've watched the first two episodes. All I can say is Il-hong's MIL has already gotten on my nerves. There's been too much time dedicated to her screeming and crying at the top of her lungs.

I'd like to see the development of Il-hong's storey but I'm not sure if I can go on as I find nothing interesting about the other characters in this drama.

Maybe by the end of the week there will be some more development. I will give it unitil then.

Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)

Last night, did we see a repeat of Wednesday's episode? I thought I was dreaming!

This drama is off to a very not-so-good start in some technical aspects. The e-subbing is the poorest quality I've ever seen on a KBS production. So many glaring grammatical errors, wrong word usage, typos, etc. Usually KBS subbing is quite good, with only a minor glitch here or there.

I was okay with the first episode, but now that I've seen three, there's too much misery happening. Every single thing is one more downer piled on top of the last. It's becoming a big heap.

Besides that, I'm finding the Innocent woman to be a Dumb woman. Like, who with half a brain gets into an ambulance with a complete stranger and leaves her own, very young daughter behind on the street alone? Then you don't even remember your own kid until hours later when you're leaving the hospital? Give me a break....

I'm a patient person, but this drama had better pick up mighty quick, or I'm not going to bother with it. Especially if it so depressing.

Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)

As if I needed to see that little girl being pushed down onto the street again by the mover/thugs working for whoever that robber barron is that stole the dead husband's business, some bozo at KBS who can't count to Thursday goes and runs the same episode on consecutive nights! Am I to assume that we will be skipping over episode four to return with episode five or will they just cut out the series finale? With the daily dramas, it's not always easy to go elsewhere to find the missing links. I wonder if these people are aware of just how much these careless errors are costing them in the eyes of a once loyal public who now has other options?

That being said, I like the young mother, her daughter, and the little baby that was dumped upon her by the loony, long unaware of, MIL. The little ones legs swinging out like tentacles as Il-Hong carries her around and the way that the daughter held onto the baby's dangling foot as the walked down the street was so funny and cute.

Il-Hong was described in the KBS synopsis as being forgetful, overly trustful, and compassionate to a fault. None of this makes her unworthy as a person and other kind-hearted souls will take notice of this to her benefit. I am already charmed by this little family and will rise and fall, and rise again with their struggles and eventual victory.

My training in the class of "Gukwha 101" has taught me to be patient and await the just desserts that surely await those who are angels among us. emoticon
