Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)
I'm really enjoying this series and attempting to keep away from the soompi thread which is far ahead of us on the west coast. It's nice to find that the show is fairly popular and that several castmembers have been well received by both the public and industry insiders. Both "Il-Hong" and "Jinbong" were finalist's at this years's KBS Awards and the girl who plays Sarang (Kim Yeh Won) walked away with the best young actress award. As her big innings are yet to come, it will be interesting to see how she compares with some of the other fine young talents who keep rolling off of the KDrama assembly line.
I only wish that they would end this no Fridays policy and stop cutting our 30 minute dramas down to 22 or 23 minutes. As there is no one uploading episodes on any site that I can find, (with subtitles, that is) I hate missing what I know I'm missing.
P.S. It was really cute hearing both Il-Hong and DG wishing each other a Merry Christmas in English. I am continuously amazed how many of background songs are Korean English language recordings of American or British pop songs. Apparently they know a whole lot more about us than we do about them. Kudos to the "hallyu" wave for washing itself upon our shores.

Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)
Ayeong is truly a product of her mother and grandmother...don't you see real trouble on the horizon coming from her facade of contentedness?
I would have expected a little jealousy from Ilhong's daughter when she noticed the attraction between Ilhong and DG but she seems to be handling it rather well...actually encouraging the relationship.
Can someone explain what pensions are supposed to mean in the context of this drama?
DG's mom is all about the status and the financial security. She doesn't have a ounce of love or concern for her son...what a pity.

Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)
It's true that Ilhong's daughters have three different fathers but it is only the youngest that was conceived in "ignorance" Remember her husband died tragically and Sarang isn't her bio daughter. She seems to be a good person with a caring heart that always seems to receive the consequences that others should be receiving. Iff uncle is smart, he will take note of how Ilhong pulled herself up from destitution and built the company (a successful one at that) that she owns today...no small feat in any country.

Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)
"Pensions" refers to the large apartment buildings with the model units ACE is furnishing, the ones we've seen from the beginning of the drama.
ROK (So. Korea) has a national pension plan somewhat similar to our Social Security, which is funded by workers and probably business, too. The National Pension Service collects tons of money and invests it both domestically and internationally, just as pension funds here in the U.S. are invested in diverse instruments.
Some of the Korean National Pension Service domestic investments are in real estate. The term "pension(s)" has come to mean both the apartment/condo buildings or the individual units in these buildings. Most are large high-rise apartments, such as ACE is furnishing models for in our drama.
Back to the story, I'm glad Namgi told Mr. Seo what he knows about the Sarang scandal and his wife's involvement. At least now we know that Ilhong and DG probably won't be blindsided on that issue.
I am so worn out these days by all the screeching and yelling women in both "Innocent Woman" and "Likable or Not" that I watch most of the episode with the TV on mute. I love seeing Ilhong and DG together, though. Both of them have changed. Ilhong is getting a little more backbone and seems less goofy and scatterbrained these days, while DG is certainly being softened up by love.
It was so sad to hear of DG's background. It made me tear up to hear of him being so ignored as a child, sitting in closets for days with nobody even noticing he wasn't around anywhere. Having a loving, affectionate person like Ilhong is the perfect antedote for him, not to mention the girls who are warm and affectionate with him, too.
I don't know what to think about the Old Geez quadrangle (Mom, Dad, Daughter, and Ms. Sim/Sarang). The women in his family certainly are not likable, but neither can I be enthusiastic or supportive of the way Old Geez is trying to dump his wife and live happily ever after with Ms. Sim and Sarang. Geez and Sim are doing nothing more than causing horrible pain for other people: for his family, for Ilhong and her family, and for Sarang.
I think it is only right that Sarang eventually know who her bio-mother and father are, but it is cruel, stupid and incredibly selfish the way they are going about it. Many a night lately I wish 7:30–7:50p were an "adult free" zone. In the Korean sense of the term "adult," that is! LOL!
