Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)

Okbun is such an unfit mother...remember when she showed up at her sons funeral, Ilhong had never even met her and the oldest daughter was already 5 years or age or so? She definitely has a history of abandonment...she never once tried to see her daughter during the years that Ilhong was raising her...I say send her, her lover and plenty of tonics to a deserted island and let them live in their fairy tale world...
the issue I am wrestling with right now is Jinsol. Ilhong should have told Namji from the start about her. Sure he was a jerk and treated Ilhong wrong but he should not be denied the knowledge that he has helped produce a lovely child. Perhaps it will be his relationship with her that will help him to grow up and take responsibility for his actions. I don't see them as a family...DG has earned that right, in my opinion, but Namji shouldn't be denied access to his daughter.

I know you're right Curly Carrot. But I have gotten so fed up with Namgi. He's like a silly greedy child. However, when he took all three girls to the amusement park, he had more fun than any of them!! MIL only wants to be with Sarang and she treats the oldest daughter like crap. Namgi would never do that.

Sometimes I tend to view things and give opinions based entirely on emotions. I have to read other people's posts to make me look at things realistically. I guess Namgi isn't an unfit parent. He's a con-man. He doesn't know any other way to live.

With Sarang alone, scared, bewieldered, and hurting; two seconds of Namgi and Namgette (Ayeoung) was too much for me to stomach. And where did that jerk on the bike get off running her down without looking back (As she stood firmly planted, albeit in the street) and yelling at her to look where she was going?!! emoticon You run a kid down and leave her wounded and crying and speed off like it was just a bump in the road? emoticon Jinbong, where are you when we need you? emoticon

Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)

For me, Namgi was the highlight of last night's show. I was really tickled at his meeting with Ayeong at the restaurant. His greatest accomplishment in life so far is how to flatter lonely, troubled women, sweet talking them out of their money. Ayeong fooled him and used him for her dirty work and I got a kick out of how he called a spade a spade with her. After all the endless K-dramas where the truth is never told to another, it was not only refreshing but also fair that he directly exposed Ayeong's scheme (embarrassing her) and added a little insulting pay back, to boot (what's she going to pay him for splitting up Ilhong and DG?).

I was torn about DG's holding off on calling Ilhong immediately, too. However, those women are so emotionally ridiculous in their responses to most things that I'm sure DG knew full well that he couldn't call Ilhong without her immediately flying out the door in a frenzy. If she had any sense, she would be relieved by the knowledge that Sarang was safe with DG and then show up later after Sarang had a chance to quiet down and not feel as though DG had betrayed her trust in him. But DG couldn't risk that, so he waited until Sarang fell asleep.

That was a tough call for DG, I'm sure. But it was a marker of sorts of his care for the girls to see that he placed the child's welfare above his feelings for Ilhong and her reaction.

I can't imagine Okbun and OG actually getting together permanently, so for me the best alternative is that Sarang remain with Ilhong, knowing who both her bio-parents are, then all developing a suitable relationship. Sarang should stay with Ilhong as long as she wants to. It doesn't mean Sarang cannot develop feelings for both Okbun and OG as time goes on.

OMG, isn't MIL going to leave this alone? She shows up again at Ilhong's and tells Sarang she is her mother. I do understand that MIL wants to clarify that she is no 'slut' and that she knows who is the father of her child. However, MIL doesn't seem to care a bit about how all this is affecting Sarang. MIL is more concerned about her own reputation than she is about her daughter's emotional state.

I can say that Ilhong, though she gets too emotional, cares only for the well being of her children. She is meek and mild but when it comes to protecting her own, she will show a backbone.

DG made Sarang a doll house that he wants the entire family (including himself) to live in.... hey, he even made a doll size figure of himself to live there. He is just soooooo sweet. I just love looking at his smile.

Ok, there is something that has bothered me since this show started. It's the coats that DG wears. All of them are very form fitting and cinched at the waist. It really bothered me when he was fighting with Namgi. How can he fight with such a tight coat on? LOL

I don't care for that style, either. But I think he's supposed to be a hip metrosexual type. (Remember in the beginning of Bizarre Bunch, Suky was wearing a number of very effeminate styles and materials in his "suits," too. I was especially put off by the use of fabrics traditionally used in womens suits.) Frankly, the work jacket/pants Namgi wears is much more flattering to the masculine physique than DG's shaped, belted jackets. Still, it fits his "prissy-ness," though I'm plenty glad to see they toughened him up a little and threw in the martial arts skills.

I'm beginning to find Ilhong somewhat annoying to look at. I'm really tired of all the waterworks and the way she moves her head... reminds me of a bobblehead. Probably my favorite character and actress in this one is her best friend. I also find Ayeong fascinating to look at. She has an unusual beauty that I find quite captivating. Maybe because she's one of the few actresses who wears no eyeliner beneath her eyes. Gives her a wide-eyed, more ethereal look, in a way.

I just don't understand where these people get off abandoning their child then announcing to this little girl that she is her daughter after 9 years and expect Sarang to accept her like 9 years have never passed. What a crock of crap. Ilhong should have never let this woman into her home or near Sarang. I don't care if she is her dead husbands mother. She has no right to Sarang. She is an unfit mother who should be punished for leaving her child. Once you give up your child you have no rights to them at all. The damage has been done and there is no turning back.

As far as the old mans eldest daughter, someone needs to knock her down a few notches. All she wants is his money. What a piece of work she is.

These people just piss me off.

Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)

MIL asked Ilhong something like, “Do you think you’re a better mother just because you raised her?”…. Uh, yeah…

The thing with MIL is that she is trying to say she was in no position to keep Sarang (although she loved her with all her heart and soul). Was Ilhong in a position to raise her? MIL DUMPED Sarang on Ilhong at Ilhong’s husband’s funeral. Ilhong was then out on the streets and couldn’t keep either one of those girls. She ended up having to put those girls in a child care home and Ilhong spent the next few months desperately trying to work so she could get the girls back.

MIL stayed gone 9 years. You mean to tell me she couldn’t find a job and get her daughter back for 9 years? PLEASE!!!

I agree that MIL has no right to Sarang. However, I believe the laws there differ from here in America. I am watching another drama where a woman gave her son up. She shows up after he’s in his 20’s and demands the respect ‘she deserves’ as his mother. I think if you give birth then you are entitled to be mother, no matter what…

I am also getting irritated with Ilhong’s continued kindness to MIL. This woman has invaded your family and has caused great distress to Sarang. Why won’t they throw her out? Ilhong promised Sarang she would protect her from MIL yet she then turned around and tried to tell Sarang to accept MIL. NO NO NO… Sarang is just a child.

Yes, MIL is her mother, but handle it in a way that Sarang doesn’t have to feel she will be taken away from Ilhong. Handle it in a way that Sarang can gradually come to accept MIL as a 2nd mother. I like this drama and I like Ilhong but we are on episode 80+ and it seems to go nowhere.

Yes (LOL), I do remember Suky (Go Joo Won) on Bizarre Bunch wearing some ‘odd’ looking outfits. I actually didn’t even think he was good looking in the first couple episodes.. Boy did I change my mind about him!!! As everyone can tell by my avatar and signature page… LOL

Another one that wore a really ‘odd’ looking coat was Lee Seo Jin in Lovers. He was in the Dr’s office with his girlfriend and he had on this horrible black/white checked coat with a huge collar....then I remembered seeing him in Phoenix with a skimpy bathing suit on… sigh... OMG..

Has anyone noticed how hilarious some of the translations are in Innocent Woman? Sometimes

Yes, painfully so. Without a doubt, these are the poorest translations I've ever seen on a KBS drama. Kind of surprising, actually. Sometimes they do crack me up, though. Other times, it is next to impossible to know what a line is supposed to mean. My guess is an intern type who speaks a little American street language is the translator, or someone who is trying to be cool with his/her slang.

As for last night, Ilhong needn't be so worried about OG's daughter taking away Sarang. Mrs. Seo has no rights at all. Sarang can't be taken anywhere by OG's daughter. It can't be done unless OG wants to pursue a legal means, and he seems a lot more sensible about damaging Sarang emotionally.

Additionally, I doubt the family court there would make such a harsh ruling. They don't even allow people to divorce without trying to work on it to repair the marriage for a set time period.

Besides all of that, it simply won't work because Sarang hates the idea and will cause all kinds of trouble, including running away again.

I forgot to mention one of my favorite moments recently. It was when DG brought the chocolate cake to cheer up Ilhong, she bends down to pick up the "folk" she dropped on the floor and the diamond necklace spilled out her neckline. I was surprised she was wearing it—I figured it was too expensive and she'd keep it in the box or maybe return it. Just the opposite! She's wearing it hidden. So sweet that DG got a glimpse of it. How that must have warmed his heart to know how precious his gift is to her, snuggled right next to her heart!
