K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)

Not watching faithfully but I do feel sorry for Seungpyo (I think that is his name). I think this is one of the few stories where the guy doesn't seem to have any friends.

This show if filled with self-centered/selfish people

Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)

That MIL. I just am shocked by her selfish behavior. I DO understand that she wants the truth to be known... she wasn't fooling around with a lot of men and this child is hers and OG's. But MIL is hurting Sarang by her actions. She is NOT putting Sarang's best interest first.

And Ilhong is forced to lie to protect Sarang from being taken away from her. That greedy Mrs Seo (forgot her name) would take Sarang if they say she is daughter to OG. If she did take Sarang Ilhong knows Sarang would be mistreated. Ilhong loves her too much to let that happen.

Every time DG comes on the screen I have to smile. He is so happy just to see Ilhong. I so understand how he could love her so much. He looks at Ilhong's mothering and her character and sees everything he never had. I guess he wants Ilhong to be his mother and his lover and his sister and his wife. Being with her and her family is being home to him.

I like watching this drama (mostly for DG and Ilhongs interactions and Jinbongs character) but lately it has been showing shades of Lonely Bird...same arguments, same crying, same screeming just taking place in different rooms...enough already..get on with the show!

Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)

I'm hugely disappointed in Ilhong for lying like that. Liz already has an accurate DNA report in her hot little hands. It is simple to get another. As usual, such a stupid lie might "solve" things for a nano-second but it only causes Ilhong (and others) more pain in the meantime. I thought she'd have more integrity than that.

Is there any character left in this group who is an upright person? Maybe only Mr. Seo. He doesn't take action, but I can't recall him deliberately lying or deceiving others. And maybe DG. He's been persnickety and hard to deal with, but I don't recall him lying or deceiving others. He's probably the most honest, upfront character here.

I'm about to bale on this one. Last night's episode was a complete turnoff to me. The constant fighting, crying, lying, conniving, threatening, etc. This doesn't add anything positive to my life and I'm more turned off to this drama now than I can recall with any other. I'm beginning to strongly dislike nearly every character. Not a good sign.

As far as Ilhong knows, OG's daughter can come and take Sarang if it's proven she is the daughter of OG. It was already mentioned that if OG died, this family would still get to keep Sarang.

If it were me, I would have lied also. There is no way I would have risked having that child taken by those horrible selfish people either.

Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)

If OG dies, his family cannot automatically take Sarang under ROK Family Law. Liz is the bio-mother and has joint parental right with OG. If he dies, his family's "rights" are secondary to Liz's rights. The days of children legally belonging only to the father (and his family) are gone. It was abolished legally and so was the Family Registry that perpetuated the exclusive right of male lineage. If Ilhong has some sort of legal guardianship of Sarang that might figure in the mix, but it doesn't seem she has all that much of a legal foundation on which to rely.

I think Ilhong's lie will cause more trouble than she thinks it solved. It infuriated Liz, who seems much more determined about legal custody now and much less willing to be cooperative with Ilhong going forward. While he lives, OG is not going to rip Sarang away from Ilhong, either.

Ilhong is going to be the big loser here unless she gets along with Liz. I thought it was interesting that Liz reminded us that she had not abandoned Sarang for all those years, but couldn't find Ilhong and Sarang due to Ilhong's lifestyle. I appreciate what a good and loving mother Ilhong is, but she has made incredibly foolish, unthinking choices in her life and suffered the consequences upon herself and her children. Some of Ilhong's foolish choices contributed to Liz not getting her daughter back years earlier, too. Both women share the responsibility of Sarang's plight today. They need to work together and with OG for Sarang's sake.

Nchristi,
We're up to episode 154 here in NYC. If you think you dislike these characters now your going to hate them by the time you get to where I am. I don't know why I'm still watching this drama, though I only watch with half a mind. That's all I can spare for this.

There are no redeeming qualities in any of these people and besides they're all so stupid you can't imagine how they could pull any of their cons off. Its all so unbelievable.

And then there's Ilhong, the dumbest of the dumb. These losers and deadbeats use and abuse her again and again and she falls for it again and again. I can't fathom anyone being dumber than the rest of them, but there she is waiting to be taken advantage of. This must be how we got the expression Dumb and Dumber. emoticon

I appreciated your comments, smoochie. emoticon Yeah, I suspect in the grand picture—when this one is over and done—it isn't going to be ranking up there with my favs.

Although I must say in thinking about the cast and characters a little bit more, the smartest character and one of the best actors is the girl who plays the oldest daughter. I really like both the character and the young actress who plays her. She's right on the money.

OT, speaking of the TV Novels in this time slot, I noticed the new bodyguard boss in the current Chae Rim drama ("Formidable Rivals") is played by the spoiled "half-brain" son of the father and his common law geisha wife from "River." Has anyone seen the male star ("fancy pants") since then?
