Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)

I agree with you Nchristi. Innocent Woman is repetitive. I watched an episode (somewhere over 100) that I accidentally found on the weekend. Basically nothing had changed. The same people are doing the same things.

I keep watching and I do like this drama (somewhat). I like Ilhong and DG’s relationship. I like how his love for her has transformed him into a kind caring person. He was so cold and distant before. Now he has a woman to love and kids to care for. He really does love those kids too.

Namgi will never really change. But he is the perfect sweet, loveable misguided con-man. He plays the part well. I sure would like to see this actor in something else. Maybe in a more serious role.

My favorite character is Ilhong’s best friend, Jinbong(?).

Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)

After saying all that I did, I finally just watched last night's episode and found it interesting!

Ilhong opening up to DG, telling him of her lonely childhood, was very touching. We now understand why she is the way she is in helping and trying to please people to a fault. Her mother died when she was young and her father had to leave her with others. Ilhong was so frightened as a child of being "abandoned" yet again, that she tried her hardest to always please and to make the caretakers like her and keep her. How sad.

Watching Ilhong cry so deeply in DG's arms really got to me. Both of them were lost souls as children and now have found great solace and understanding in each other. She provides the warmth and tenderness he so desperately yearns for. DG provides the security, steadfastness, and love Ilhong yearns for.

Too many skunks in this drama. At least one skunk is cute! Like you, nsheldon, I'd love to see "Namgi" in another drama. He has wonderful facial expressions and seems to have a natural ability that way. Kind of reminds me of Lee Pilmo having a wide range, able to play the flatest, most boring of characters all the way to animated comedic characters.

The skunk I can't take is Mr. Min, the lawyer. The way he is so disloyal to both Old Geez and Old Geezette is hard to take. He's there as a story conduit and for comedy, but watching a lawyer function the way he does really distresses me. While he and Jinpal (sp?) make a suitable couple in some ways, I just can't see her with such a flaky, spineless type guy.

Namgi seems to slowly improve here and there but it will take a month of Sundays to get him to turn out okay, won't it?! I'm glad he told Mr. Seo what his ex-wife is up to. Let's hope Mr. Seo finally gets angry enough with her to do something about it.

I can't help but feel sorry for Ilhong. I'm constantly rooting for her and DG. He seems like such a rock for her. He represents stability and security. Because of everything Ilhong has been through you want her to have all that DG can offer.

DG, on the other hand, has been basically rejected by his parents' selfish lives (I have other opinions about this too which are not so negative). Basically, he is an only child who has led a very lonely life. I want DG to have all those family values that Ilhong can offer. It's kinda like Ilhong can be DG's mother and his wife. And I think he would cherish every day with her and her kids. (They need to have a son!! )

YES... Namgi is a bit like my Yi Pilmo. Even though this is the only thing I've ever seen this actor in, he seems like he could do exactly as Yi Pilmo did in, that he ccould play comedy or drama. I really like this actor and would love to see him playing a serious leading man role (and then a nice comedy... LOL)

I haven't seen an instance where Ilhong was not crying. She is such a doormat. You can be a very good person but there is a time when you need to develop a backbone otherwise everybody will just take advantage of you (which is her case)!!

Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)

I've changed my mind about Ilhong. I found her crying and "giving" annoying for a long time, but now that it has been revealed why she is the way she is, I cannot ignore the reasons her personality was formed that way during her painful childhood. It takes a long time for people to neutralize and overcome negative influences from their early formation. The same goes for DG. In truth, they are both very caring and beautiful people who sprang from sad, lonely beginnings. I am enjoying their having found one another and watching their love flowering.

Not only that, but I feel Ilhong has grown quite a bit and has stood up for herself strongly on several occasions. The latest was telling DG's mother that she wouldn't give him up, that she loves him (even though it was with tears). Before that, she finally had it with Namgi and threw him out.

For some odd reason, I've taken heart again with this drama and am enjoying it more than I have for a while. I will never enjoy seeing Old Geezette and her daughter, but as long as they aren't screaming, I can take it! emoticon

Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)

Namgi... he certainly cleans up nicely, doesn't he?! So now he's the team leader of Uncle's model house project! This is making me laugh so much. But one good thing about it, it kind of sets up Namgi to turn serious and have a decent job so he can eventually enter the picture as his daughter's father. Especially since his loan shark debt is now paid off. Maybe he can make enough money legitimately to pay back DG.

I'm sure Namgi has a bunch more moral crises to meet and fail or overcome, but one of these years he will shape up. I just can't see him forever being a con man. This actor is also doing a very good job in showing emotions towards his little daughter. They're cute together.

It's funny, but when I look at Ilhong's three daughters, I see the fathers. I really like the oldest one, from Ilhong and her husband. Sarang looks a little flaky to me, like Okbun & Old Geez. Namgi's daughter looks full of fun and life like her dad. (Wonder what kind of kid Ilhong's best friend and Mr. Min will have?!)

Lawyer Min + Jinbong = Either a back-stabbing leech or a loyal friend that you could trust with your life. (As long as the demon pusuing you wasn't "that scary granny!" )emoticon I know this much; It ought to be illegal to show a scene where that pig (Mr. Min) has to eat and talk at the same time! It seems like his lips are too dadgum small to be able to keep food on the inside of his mouth.

I like the oldest daughter the best, too, although it was the one playing Sarang who won the best child actress at this year's KBS Awards. She must still have her best innings down the road....

Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)

Hello Family

This drama has finished here in NYC and a new one started on Monday. Believe it or not, Kim Hye Ok (Danpun's mom) has a big role in the new one too. She's a really busy actress, because she's so very good in every role she plays. I forgot the name of the new drama. I think its You Stole My Heart.

I can't say I'm not happy Innocent Woman is over. It was sometimes grueling to watch her be so innocent, over and over again. emoticon

This one seems okay. Pretty good cast and lots of familiar faces. We'll see.

Later emoticon

Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)

I keep wanting to forgive Namgi for his actions but he is really getting out of hand. He actually thinks because he is Jinsol's father he can move right in and become Ilhong's husband or something?

I think Namgi has a good heart. He's just so STUPID and SILLY and SHALLOW. He's like a kid. He seems so limited in his thinking. He can't see the big picture. But when you see him with any of those kids he seems like he is having such a good time and he loves being with them. It's so hard to hate someone like him (but he's really making me mad)..

Ilhong seems to have gotten a bit tougher. She is determined not to allow Namgi back in her life. She has no feelings for him. I'm hoping Ilhong stays strong and sticks with DG.

DG ... Geeze I love this guy. He admits that he is having a hard time knowing Ilhong slept with Namgi. He is so open and honest about his anger and his pain. He's not pretending that all is ok with him.

Ok, is Ayeong changing? Is she going to back out of her role in getting DG to marry her? I sure hope so because I'm really tired of the women in that family!! DG's mom, Ayeong's mom and that grandma... what is with them?

I'm hoping that DG will continue to be understanding and pull Ilhong back before she charges in and tears into to Namgi in front of the kids. emoticon As nshelden suggested, he is immature, but he genuinely loves the little girl. He'll become a "man", eventually, for her sake.
