Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)
After saying all that I did, I finally just watched last night's episode and found it interesting!
Ilhong opening up to DG, telling him of her lonely childhood, was very touching. We now understand why she is the way she is in helping and trying to please people to a fault. Her mother died when she was young and her father had to leave her with others. Ilhong was so frightened as a child of being "abandoned" yet again, that she tried her hardest to always please and to make the caretakers like her and keep her. How sad.
Watching Ilhong cry so deeply in DG's arms really got to me. Both of them were lost souls as children and now have found great solace and understanding in each other. She provides the warmth and tenderness he so desperately yearns for. DG provides the security, steadfastness, and love Ilhong yearns for.
Too many skunks in this drama. At least one skunk is cute! Like you, nsheldon, I'd love to see "Namgi" in another drama. He has wonderful facial expressions and seems to have a natural ability that way. Kind of reminds me of Lee Pilmo having a wide range, able to play the flatest, most boring of characters all the way to animated comedic characters.
The skunk I can't take is Mr. Min, the lawyer. The way he is so disloyal to both Old Geez and Old Geezette is hard to take. He's there as a story conduit and for comedy, but watching a lawyer function the way he does really distresses me. While he and Jinpal (sp?) make a suitable couple in some ways, I just can't see her with such a flaky, spineless type guy.
Namgi seems to slowly improve here and there but it will take a month of Sundays to get him to turn out okay, won't it?! I'm glad he told Mr. Seo what his ex-wife is up to. Let's hope Mr. Seo finally gets angry enough with her to do something about it.

K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)
I haven't seen an instance where Ilhong was not crying. She is such a doormat. You can be a very good person but there is a time when you need to develop a backbone otherwise everybody will just take advantage of you (which is her case)!!

Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)
I've changed my mind about Ilhong. I found her crying and "giving" annoying for a long time, but now that it has been revealed why she is the way she is, I cannot ignore the reasons her personality was formed that way during her painful childhood. It takes a long time for people to neutralize and overcome negative influences from their early formation. The same goes for DG. In truth, they are both very caring and beautiful people who sprang from sad, lonely beginnings. I am enjoying their having found one another and watching their love flowering.
Not only that, but I feel Ilhong has grown quite a bit and has stood up for herself strongly on several occasions. The latest was telling DG's mother that she wouldn't give him up, that she loves him (even though it was with tears). Before that, she finally had it with Namgi and threw him out.
For some odd reason, I've taken heart again with this drama and am enjoying it more than I have for a while. I will never enjoy seeing Old Geezette and her daughter, but as long as they aren't screaming, I can take it!

Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)
Lawyer Min + Jinbong = Either a back-stabbing leech or a loyal friend that you could trust with your life. (As long as the demon pusuing you wasn't "that scary granny!" ) I know this much; It ought to be illegal to show a scene where that pig (Mr. Min) has to eat and talk at the same time! It seems like his lips are too dadgum small to be able to keep food on the inside of his mouth.
I like the oldest daughter the best, too, although it was the one playing Sarang who won the best child actress at this year's KBS Awards. She must still have her best innings down the road....

Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)
I'm hoping that DG will continue to be understanding and pull Ilhong back before she charges in and tears into to Namgi in front of the kids. As nshelden suggested, he is immature, but he genuinely loves the little girl. He'll become a "man", eventually, for her sake.
