The problem (as I see it) with Namgi, is that he just can't make the complete turn from being a conniving grifter (with money as his main source of inspiration) to a decent human being who makes his decisions based upon what is fair, just, and honest. Hurting (or even thinking about causing pain to Jinsol and all of the other innocents involved) or injuring people for profit or personal gain is just unworthy of understanding or rationalisation. The guy is still a scumbag. At this stage, he'd push his daughter into a lake just so he could play the hero by saving her. The wretched Mrs. Eom has come further, as of late, than has he. emoticon

K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)

I had the "fortune" of tuning in one day when the writers had Ilhong delivering some speech about her past. It stuck with me because she ended saying that from that day she vowed she would never cry again. Was that some joke.

Anytime I've tuned in she has been crying or teary eyed. Yes she is kind hearted but she is tiresome to watch.

Namgi was an idiot and still is. He is still self-centered and manipulative. I am glad he loves his daughter now put that love into consistent action and stop whining and scheming about the fact that you were kept fromt he daughter who's mother you ripped off and never paid back.

Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)

Thanks, nchristi, for clearing up on the house trashing….
I know what you said of “can’t unbake that cookie” bit, but—still, I just can’t accept him as Jinsol’s father…I’m more of how robbo phrased it, “….so he could play the hero ….”, now—that I like, so true, too! It kindda makes me LOL at that phrase….

Yes, vannessave, we cannot forget the fact about that incident of Namgi running away with Ilhong’s money. And he knows that she worked so hard in saving that money.

Re: K-Drama: (The Innocent Woman)

Couple of thoughts...

First, this is K-drama. emoticon I will be hugely surprised if the KDR (K-Drama Redemption) chit isn't used on Namgi. Additionally, the actor they cast as Namgi has an innocent, lovable look to him. This is deliberate casting. He's bound to eventually become a decent guy, or die trying to do so.

Would he 'push Jinsol into a lake to look the hero in saving her'? Not a chance. He genuinely loves her. In a way, Jinsol is his only lifeline, the one thread in his entire life that still ties him to a hope of a productive, honest life. Jinsol is the only thing he has produced in his life which redeems him, that is a beautiful, and of which he can be proud. Everything else in his life he is ashamed of on some level. If this were reality, I'd have a different view.

Why do I like Namgi so much? Probably the main reason is that he is the only character in this drama that I enjoy most of the time—until he's 'evil'—so I focus more on him. There's Mr. Seo, but he's basically about as exciting as the furniture he makes. All the other main characters in this drama are a harangue on my nerves. Except for the shop foreman guy who has the goods on the Double Agent shrew. I'm sort of enjoying Mr. Min and his GF (Ilhong's friend), but my tolerance level for hysterical characters has become minimal lately, with my finger nervously twitching on the mute button. Oh yes, I do find the oldest daughter to be a breath of fresh air. She's a very good actress, I like the character, and she's very easy on the eyes.

neko, please feel free to express yourself on Namgi—or any other characters. My view and opinion are only mine and many people completely disagree with me. No need to ever apologize. My view is not the "right" one, it is only one person's view—mine. I respect others' views whether or not I personally agree with the thoughts. I've been told many times in my life that I'm opinionated. I don't mean to come on too strong with how I say things... it just happens that way sometimes (though I try to work on it). emoticon

So, please continue to say whatever you like about that scum, Namgi! emoticon

I barely watch this drama. Even though I like to see how things end up, can't wait until this one is over.

Ok, nchristi, thanks.

Last week episodes were very disturbing. Everyone was out to get the control of the Furniture Master bid!
But Friday’s scene….the gown fitting part.
When the sales clerk asked the girls how DG looked so dandy,
“that’s not my uncle, he’s our dad!”
ahhhhh~that was so cute, and him-acknowledging that too…. Image
ahhhhh~them—five, make good family! Image
Love the pictures they took of themselves, too! Soooo~cute! emoticon

What will happen this week!?!?!!!

I still pretty much like this drama. But I do agree that it's one problem after another and it's always the same problem. It does get tiring.

Namji IS fun to watch. He is hard to hate because he is such an innocent criminal. However..... when he started trying to talk Jinsol into moving in with him and then started bad mouthing Ilhong and DG to Jinsol that was too much for me! How dare him drag that little girl (who is practically still a baby) into his problems with DG and Ilhong.

Namgi is just plain silly and immature. But he didn't trash DG & Ilhong's house (although he intended to do that at one time) and he didn't cause that accident.

As much as I like/enjoy DG, he sure is a stiff character. But I love watching his interactions with Ilhong and those girls. Actually, I like waching Namgi with the girls also (when he isn't talking like an idiot to Jinsol)...

Those casting these shows seem to always do a great job of matching child actors with their adult counterparts or the kids to their tv "parents." Little Jinsol's face and chubby cheeks make appear that she actually could be Ilhong's daughter.

I think also that a case could be made for Mrs. Seo being in the running for most evil daily drama wretch. Kidnapping, fraud, attempted murder for hire, racketeering.....the list goes on and on. It seems as if "Pretty" may hold the key to the salvation of Namgi. The two of them might be able to save each other and maybe Liz will make it big as a singer and spring the old coot from the web of the black widows. (The blind leading the blind. emoticon )
