KBS SYNOPSIS class ul Fatherly Love
“Fatherly love” has been a frequent subject of movies and dramas. Their story line is clichéd and typical. The new drama “Single Dad in Love” may be no different to some extent but it will have a light-hearted, comical touch.
Amid today’s abundance, we thirst for love, a family love. A traditional sense of family may not describe various forms of families today. In Korea, there are a quarter million single fathers.
Single Dad in Love
In “Single Dad in Love,” the handsome single parent Pung-ho and his son San always have big smiles and do not lose hope despite much difficulty in life. The father had little education and even less money on hand. However, he boldly faces the world armed with his love for San. The story of the father and son will warm the hearts of the viewers.
There is also another kind of love, a romantic love. Pungho and Hari cry and laugh together. In the face of cruel destiny, they comfort and embrace each other even in pain.
Other dramas talk of betrayals, revenges, hatred and malice. However, this one speaks of forgiveness, consolation, encouragement and passion, the values closer to the true nature of love.
KBS' "Single Dad in Love" may be melodramatic but will touch many hearts. class p CAST/CHARACTERS
Oh Ji-ho as Kang Pung-ho (Age 30)
No matter how many times he is knocked over, he picks himself up. class ul Pung-ho is an exterminator and an amateur martial arts fighter. He is helplessly optimistic and honest. He lost his parents young. His only family is his son San. He has gone through many hardships to raise his son by himself after his first love, San’s mother, left him.
For his son, there is no mount high enough for the father. San is the gift from God. He lives happily with his son and seems to lack nothing or no one but, deep in his heart, he hides a scar from San’s mother.
Since his first love dumped him, Pung-ho no longer believes in women or in love. But, when Hari showers him with her love and affection, he begins to open his heart.
Then, he chances upon his first love, Yun So-yi. It has been six years since she left Pung-ho and San. However, So-yi is in front of him as Hari’s soon-to-be step mother. He decides to draw back himself, away from Hari.
When San is diagnosed with a brain tumor, the destinies of four people, Pung-ho, Hari, So-yi and So-yi’s fiancé and Ha-ri’s father Ki-seok get tangled.
Pung-ho tries to make money to save his son’s life but, like water draining out of a hole in the bottom of a bucket, no amount seems to be enough. He is cheated, ripped off and sucked out of all his energy and health, but no one can stop him in his efforts to save his child.
Heo Yi-jae as Jeon Ha-ri (Age 24)
I want to love and love to the edge of insanity and even death. class ul She is born in a well-to-do family. Her father is a neurosurgeon and her late mother was a pianist. She grew up cheery and full of life. Since her mother died, she tried her best to be a good daughter and a friend to her father. However, six years ago, her father left the country with her piano teacher, So-yi. Ha-ri felt betrayed and was deeply hurt.
Ha-ri has never been in a serious relationship, let alone had a boyfriend. She falls in love with Pung-ho at first sight.
Once again, she has to face her piano teacher. This time it is not over her father but her lover, who was So-yi’s ex-husband. Ha-ri vows she will not lose this time.
Ha-ri remains by Pung-ho’s side when he is diagnosed with a terminal illness. She refuses to be discouraged or despair. She continues to show her true love.
Kang Seong-yeon as Yun So-yi (Age 30)
I was never completely happy. class ul She is an intelligent, chic, gracious and proud pianist—at least on the outside.
She lost her parents young and was brought up by an unwilling relative. She wanted to succeed and be recognized. She had talents but didn’t have money or sponsors. She lost all hope and fell into a slump. Then she met Ki-seok, her sponsor and her new hope. She left Pung-ho and their son San behind and never looked back.
So-yi is not cold-hearted by nature. However, at the sight of present happiness, she turns a blind eye to her ex-husband and son. She truly respects and loves her sponsor and her fiancé Ki-seok. She dreams of a rosy future with him.
However, when San is taken ill with a brain tumor, her past catches up with her. So-yi decides to break up the engagement. She finds that she cannot do anything for her ill child. She tears her heart in agony.
Park Chan-hwan as Jeon Ki-seok (Age 50)
Ki-seok is Ha-ri’s father and fell in love with her piano teacher, So-yi. class ul When he first met her, he was so surprised because she looked so much like his dead wife. He fell in love and became her sponsor. He and his new love left for the United States for her music career, leaving behind his daughter So-yi. After six years, they return. Gi-seok belatedly feels guilty and regrets that he has neglected his daughter all these years.
He is a gentle, generous person. When it comes to his daughter Ha-ri and her happiness, he is willing and very understanding. So, even when Ha-ri falls in love with a single father Pung-ho, he tries to accept the new boyfriend. However, when he finds out that Pung-ho is his fiancée So-yi’s ex-husband, he is deeply shaken.
As a neurosurgeon, he carries out the operation on Pung-ho and So-yi’s ill child. When So-yi wants to raise her son, he understands and adopts him as his own.
Ahn Do-gyu as Kang San (Age 7)
San is Pung-ho’s son. He is a curious child, full of questions. class ul He is a handsome boy like his father. He is proud and doesn’t like to lose. But inside, he is tender and often sheds tears.
He is more mature than his age. He loves his father Pung-ho and thinks a lot about him. The boy doesn’t know his mother’s face. He is told that his mother is in heaven. He imagines his mother looks like the most beautiful actress Kim Tae-hi.
His father seems to have a morbid hate against piano. However, San likes the piano a lot and learns from Ha-ri behind his father’s back.
He is a merry child. In his fight against the brain tumor, he refuses to be defeated and remains optimistic. Even in sick bed, the child laughs and plays more to make his father feel less sad.

Looking forward to this drama, too.
But already we see that the main character has an illness and ends up in hospital…with a…a…hem…
anyway, hoping it will not be that serious, but,
as I checked nchristi’s introductory posting….I don’t like what I read….
LOL on the skeleton, as Ha-ri was being lectured by the senior lady doctor, it’s jaw just drop ‘dead’!

when he was in Thank you life, was not so special, but he was really good in "couple in touble", "get karl " are good.
I love to be in his fan club too, I heard he also has fan club in Singapore. Even he does not has too many shows, but I think he still got a lot admirs
