KBS WORLD SYNOPSIS class ul Young-Jin, a 27-old lady with natural born pride and desire to succeed and be recognized is not backed up at all by her poor family; rather she needs to take care of all of the messes and fusses that her grandfather, father, and younger brother committ. Having nothing to trust except for her own body and soul, she exerts herself to finally be appointed as a body guard of the Blue House of Korea [equivalent to the White House in US].

At the Blue House, Young-Jin meets Kwanpil, a smart, excellent, cynical and charismatic colleague, who by instinct recognizes each other as formidable rivals. They bump into each other at every course of training, extremely competing to beat the other, and what a mischievous fate!

They end up being partners to protect Suho, the only son of Mr. President. Suho is an unstoppable rascal with high intelligence and a violent nature. Suho is the key person who discloses the past of Kwanpil and realizes the true virtue of family and love. By describing two vivid characters, Youn-Jin and Kwanpil, Formidable Rivals shows the life of bodyguards who by nature cannot be spotlighted. This is the story of the others, non-heros, who support the protagonists. They also have their own way of life, own value of family and love.

Re: K-Drama: 강적들 (Formidable Rivals)

The first episode is actually next Monday May 19 at 9:40 pm. Saw the trailer tonight after Likable or Not & it looks good!!

But the best part is that one of my top two favorite K-drama actresses, Chae Lim (Rim?)...Nam Sang-Mi is the other...is the lead actress in the drama emoticon I first saw her in "All About Eve" & fell for her right there emoticon Loved her in "Dalia's Spring" too, though her hair style took some getting used too emoticon

I actually have both dramas Chae has been in on DVD & look forward to seeing her in this drama...she's just SOOOO incredibly pretty emoticon

Is it possible to rip off TV and repost so others who do not have access can watch too?

Thank you for the link. I notice most of the files and esp. Eng. subs are from D-Addicts. I was thinking more along the lines of posting series not currently available. E.g. over at kbfd forums, DaeJoYoung which was unsubbed by fansubbers was ripped off TV and posted. Really happy with that series!

So far it looks like a good one. Love it when they were competing against each other. Chaerim in another drama, this one will be a bit different I think, with action elements.

Good show...Chae Rim's character is a very strong woman & I like that, plus I really like Chae Rim emoticon Interesting that Cha Yeongjin is much more mature & responsible than her family members, LOL!! And her "partner" is a bit too stiff (will he ever smile, once?) but I like the rebel son of the president!! And I'm interested in seeing how the "hatred" between Yeongjin & Gwanpil will develop into respect oe something more...though, I think I would love to see the rebel son, Suho, end up with Yeongjin emoticon

GREAT to see Chae Rim in a drama again emoticon She's SOOOO cute & pretty!!

Re: K-Drama: 강적들 (Formidable Rivals)

First episode was good enough to keep me coming back. Hopefully it won't fall apart like Bad Love. I actually like the Gwanpil character. I don't know if its just for the character or because of the actor. I think it's the later maybe because I still remember him from Green Rose. His character in that drama was one that I loved to hate. The Gwanpil character hasn't fully developed yet and I think that there is something in his past that makes him so stiff and cold.

The Suho seems to be the typical Kdrama rich boy but he might have some reason for his behavior too. Sorry lex but at this point he's my least favorite. Then again I almost always seem to fall for the poor guy in these dramas. It'll be interesting to see who Chae Rim falls for. Will she break guard ethics by falling for the protectee or will she break ethics by falling for the co-worker? I see her with Gwanpil only because she met him first.

Chae Rim aka Yeongjin is my favorite character of the three. She's strong not only physically but also in dealing with the family. Speaking of the family I know I'm reading too much into this but I'm surprised that the agency would even allow her to get this far into training given the family background. I'd think the agency would do a security background check not only on her but her family too. Wouldn't they pose a security risk given what seems to be their criminal background petty as it maybe?

Re: K-Drama: 강적들 (Formidable Rivals)

Great casting for this one! I love Chae Rim with Lee Jong Hyuk (Gwanpil). What chemistry. They are both very interesting actors and are a good match together. But then I find him very interesting. emoticon Can't say the same about the problem-child son Suho. Maybe his character will develop into something I find more interesting, but he can't touch Gwanpil in my book. Yeow!

As for the story itself, Gwanpil isn't quite the hard-hearted guy he professes to be. Deliberately throwing the target competition so Cha Yeongjin could win and feel "acceptance" was very caring and generous on his part. When they all graduated and she stood there looking at the three empty seats in the audience (while her brother, father, and gramps were at home watching boxing or whatever), the other graduates got antsy that she wasn't coming down off the stage. Not Gwanpil, though. He knew and appreciated what that moment meant to her and had no negative reaction in any way.

So sad that both of them were alone at their graduation, the other graduates happily sharing and going off with their relatives. Loved how it ended with Chae Rim madder than a hornet at him for ignoring her and walking away, while we see a slight smile come across his face.

This one's off to a great start. I hope it continues this way.
