Article on Eric's last drama before military service... class blockquote Shinhwa member Eric (Mun Jung Hyuk, 29) will be displaying his acting skills for the last time before he enlists into the army.
The KBS2 drama, 최강칠우 (Choi Gang Chiru / Strongest Chiru - working title) from 9 June onwards, every Monday and Tuesday at 9.55pm. Scripted by Baek Yoon Chul and produced by Park Man Young, the drama will star Eric as the male lead character Kang Chiru (working name).
"Strongest Chiru" is KBS's latest sageuk drama after "Hong Gil Dong." Eric will play a lowly officer in a 의금부 (eui geum bu) (a court that handles crimes of treason) in the Joseon era, nondescript, not very smart and whose lifelong ambition is to become a mid-level officer. However when night falls, he transforms into the top assassin in an assassination organization, who metes out punishment to evildoers and gives justice where needed. This challenging role will see him play out a man with two vastly different characters.
The court, the equivalent of the modern-day police department in the Joseon era, will be the setting for the drama, and the sageuk drama will feature action scenes with assassins with various secrets.
After starring in MBC's "Que Sera Sera" last May, Eric has been busy with Shinhwa's overseas activities. This will be the last drama project before he enlists into the army.
Eric, unlike the other members, hasn't had any solo album activities beside Shinhwa group activities.
Shinhwa's 9th album is due to be released very soon, and when interviewed Eric said, "I took a long break because my health condition wasn't that good. Now I'm in my peak condition." [Note: Eric was seriously injured during the filming of the drama, Wolf, which was subsequently canceled. A car stunt went awry and he was run down by the car while trying to save the actress from injury. He was hospitalized for a month, sustaining serious injuries. —nchristi]
Eric's management company Top Class Entertainment expressed, "Eric can't really relate himself to a sageuk drama, but as the script is very interesting, he decided on it as his next project. After a year's break, he's now in the pink of health. This drama is expected to end in mid-August and he's scheduled to enlist in September."

Re: K-Drama: 必殺 최강칠우 (Chilwu, The Mighty)
It’s “Gukhwa”!
And the guy from “the Coffee Prince”…
And the time slot is from 9:40 to 11!??
I wonder about the editing situation….
But, it’s about “historical”….I’m not too sharp with Korean history.
But I’ll try it out.
Thanks again, nchristi, for the program info.

Re: K-Drama: 必殺 최강칠우 (Chilwu, The Mighty)
Have read lots of critiques about this drama. some not good re Eric andhis acting . Others very pleased and enjoying it all. We are warned to look out for the 'imitation' horses they ride. I mean actually not real animals. Weird ??

Re: K-Drama: 必殺 최강칠우 (Chilwu, The Mighty)
Most of the reviewers are taking this series way too seriously. It's supposed to be a lark, how 'bout laughing at the "wooden horses" just like in the days when Roy Rogers and Dale Evans used to lasso the bad uns from 50 yards aways at 40 miles per hour? Anyway, this series is a keeper (imo) due to three little words; Goo Hye Sun. I've yet to run into anything that she put her own stamp on that could be considered as a complete failure.
Thanks again for the head's up, nchristi.

Re: K-Drama: 必殺 최강칠우 (Chilwu, The Mighty)
Have not seen any of this yet but I like Eric so I am looking forward to it. I agree nchristi that he is a good actor and I loved him in Phoenix. That was a long and intricate role which he played very well.
I don't know about the horses but from what I read it seems these are mechanical and not just 'close up heads'. We shall see.

Re: K-Drama: 必殺 최강칠우 (Chilwu, The Mighty)
I can't say I care for Eric, although I think I just don't care for some of the characters he has portrayed. I liked him in Super Rookie, but detested him in Que Sera Sera. However, I just saw him in Radio Dayz, and he was VERY good--it took me about 15 minutes before I realized it was Eric. The thing that's interesting about him is his willingness to try different roles--he's going to succeed sometimes and sometimes he's not. Having seen him in QSS, I should think he'd be able to handle a role as an assassin.

Oh, nchristi, how embarrassing!!!
They look so much alike to me--and I haven't seen either one a lot, so my mind just jumped to Eric!!!
