Re: MBCD (18.3) - free 24hr over the air channel starting Aug 1 2008
bubu,
Lately I have found three more channels that show Korean and Chinese shows. Surprise to me.. and I am pleased. The one Chinese extra channel shows all sorts of programmes and sometimes with English titles. The Korean one shows very early dramas and I am trying to sort out who are these young actors and it is fun to recognise them in their early efforts.
In recent days the Chinese channels have been concentrating on the Space shot. It is so interesting to see the way they deal with it and they are so proud to talk with the astronauts before during and after the mission. They did a spacewalk as well.
I have also seen the Trot artists and I like their singing so count me in as being an 'oldie' bubu....

Seems like a lot of good shows. We're still getting use to the converter and figuring out how to stop the constant freezing of the picturevannessave, If the picture comes and goes, breaks up or freezes, it most likely is an antenna reception issue. A little bit of fiddling with antenna direction may help. Is it just KSCI or does it happen on other stations as well? If you use an indoor antenna, try placing it near a window, on the side of your house that faces toward Altadena. (See Map)
Antenna Web - Click on Choose an antenna, then enter your zip code to find what stations (and their strength) are available in your location. It will also show which direction to point your antenna for best reception.
What model box do you have? If you still have problems, and suspect that it's the box itself, go to the AVS Forums, they should have a thread started for most all brands/models of converter boxes. You might find an answer there... lots of tech geeks there that could offer suggestions.
Here is the AVS forum for Los Angeles area OTA (over-the-air) reception questions. (last post is most recent)
Hope some of this helps. Good luck.

I'm so glad I stopped by this forum. I have no clue about the extra channels. OK, so all I have to do is buy a converter box and I will have access to the extra channels?
