K-Drama: 내사랑 금지옥엽 (My Precious You)
Folks I'MMMM BAAAACK (So are my feelings hurt if you didn't even notice.)
Love this show and Lee Tae Ran (my favorite since Yellow Handkerchief), but I must say that the actress who plays Kim Bori is stealing the show. My Korean wife says that Bori plays the role with very heavy country girl accent). The actress who plays Sera/Fiona is also doing a good job and it is a nice change of character for her after playing the Rich Spoiled Princess in the weekly drama.
It is interesting to me how this series and Mom's Dead Upset both treat the ex-wifes -- two very hot looking adulteress raving mad b***** who want to get back to their saintly husbands. Is there some cultural bias here in blaming divorce on the woman? (Or do the women in the target demographic audience not like to think of thier men as instigators of divorce?)
Good to see that the show has been extended to 54 episodes. We are up to # 45 in the DC area and the series is still well acted and exciting. Seeing the lousy KBS service youall get in LA (only one episode a weekend) someone with the attitutde and the money ought to consider getting the KBS contract when it comes open and running a 24/7 Korean channel-- the market should be big enough to support such an effort.

At any rate, glad to see you back! class blockquote It is interesting to me how this series and Mom's Dead Upset both treat the ex-wifes -- two very hot looking adulteress raving mad b***** who want to get back to their saintly husbands. (Or do the women in the target demographic audience not like to think of thier men as instigators of divorce?)I've always thought it has to do with the Korean cultural view that everything inside the home/family is the responsibility of the wife. How the children turn out, are educated, etc., is Mom's responsibility. (She always takes the blame and does the apologizing, not the father.) It seems the same is true in keeping the husband within the family, even if it means turning a blind eye to his cavorting around away from home, or any other unseemly behavior.
Many cultures favor the men in this regard. Even today, there are a number of cultures/religions where men can divorce for nearly any reason (it is always justifiable), but a woman cannot no matter what a cruel, no good creep her husband may be. And if she does leave, she must leave behind her children, since they 'belong' to the husband and his family. class blockquote Seeing the lousy KBS service youall get in LA (only one episode a weekend) someone with the attitutde and the money ought to consider getting the KBS contract when it comes open and running a 24/7 Korean channel-- the market should be big enough to support such an effort.Well, some surprises may be in the offing sooner than later. Stay tuned...

Re: K-Drama: 내사랑 금지옥엽 (My Precious You)
Wow...what an episode
-Yeongju had me thinking she was being sincere with Inho, but we see that she's more VICIOUS & EVIL than before...if that's possible!! What a spiteful witch And what really bugs me is that Inho is probably going to side with that witch v Jeonseol, about seeing the kids
-LOVE the way Sera, Jaera & their mom stood up to the dad, FINALLY, and demanded that he stop being a dictator!! Wonder if his condition will be very serious or if he might have embelished a bit. It was a bit unusual...to go from the "comedic" style of arguing to such "seriousness" about his oppressive behavior toward his family, in a matter of seconds!! On a sidenote, the whole group (dad, mom, Jaera & Sera) are very good actors IMO!!
-Poor Jinho...not really sure why Insun is so dead set against "letting him in," though it's definitely affecting her, too!!
Can't wait for Sunday!!
--- Nam Sang-Mi...my favorite K-drama actress & a BEAUTIFUL woman!!
Chae Rim...my 2nd favorite K-drama actress & gorgeous!!

Dongho is such a gentleman and is so kind in not forcing a deeper relationship with Bori right away...you can tell even without his confession to Insun that he had deep feelings for Bori.
Poor Jinho...the pain that poor boy is feeling right now...just want to reach out and give him a hug

Re: K-Drama: 내사랑 금지옥엽 (My Precious You)
This weekend's episodes are why I LOVE K-dramas...WOW
-The minute Sinho told Jaera to go with Jinho, I knew he was headed to Insun's & would run into Bori...drama at it's best
-I knew Inho was going to side with that witch, Yeongju...but, despite getting Jeonseol's approval to see the kids, I don't trust her motives & not sure if she'll dismiss the suit, entirely. One thing's for sure, she's scheming to get Inho out of the picture. I really hope Inho "wises up" to Yeongju & puts her in her place...a good, hard smack to the face
-Looks like Sera's dad is going to "freeze out" the family...at least, for now
LOVING this drama...even more than Road Home!!

Chae Rim...my 2nd favorite K-drama actress & gorgeous!!

K-Drama: 내사랑 금지옥엽 (My Precious You)
The Baek Family is a good family. you can tell that mom and pop sincerely care for each other and their two daughters. Pop may be a little old school but there can be no doubt that when things get tough he will be caring and supportive. He is also a good boss that cares about his employees.

K-Drama: 내사랑 금지옥엽 (My Precious You)
I agree usfkman. He has taken the title, Head of Household seriously and puts forth all of his energies in preserving an intact, loving family according to his design. (as you can tell by the family outburst against his dictatorship, very little discussion ever went on as to the girls' ideas or "designs" for the fam. but I think his motives were in the right place...remember the fitness outings at the park

Re: K-Drama: 내사랑 금지옥엽 (My Precious You)
It was a sad scene with Junsik drinking by himself in the dark kitchen. Sera comes quietly down the stairs, sees his pain and goes back upstairs.
Well, he's had quite a shocking load dumped on him. It is devastating to suddenly realize that the very thing you are most proud of about yourself is not your glory, but your shame in the eyes of everyone else. But the blame isn't only with Junsik. His wife, in particular, has allowed him the fantasy because she didn't have the fortitude or wisdom to stop enabling him years ago. She's no dummy and could have figured out how to ease him into a different style if she'd thought about it carefully.
But all is not lost. Junsik is really an honorable, loving guy at heart. He will make the adjustment and move on in a better way. After the initial wound heals, he will find himself in a whole lot better environment, one where his family genuinely loves and respects him. The whole family will benefit from this.
I don't know about Sinho. His situation is getting very tricky here. Just when he has decided to make a life with Sera and take responsibility for his actions, up pops the very pregnant Bori. Holy cow! He hasn't noticed yet, but it will be soon!
The Insun/Jinho situation is another heartbreaker, isn't it? Poor kid. Dramas have to have their conflict but in reality what mother could deny that kid and figure he's somehow better off if she rejects him?
Still waiting for Sinho and Inho to loosen up their tight feelings on their mom. You'd think after all the painful rejection each of them is going through, they'd have a little more empathy for the situation their mother is in, too.
