I can understand Sinho and Inho's deep feelings of anger and continued rejection of their birth mother as not only did she abandon the children, she played a key role in creating the life that they and their dad had to lead after her departure. In their eyes, I would presume they would see her as the one that robbed their dad of his happiness (a happiness separate from the one he has with his children) The hardships they all had to endure lasted for many, many years (20) and those types of pains and experiences aren't forgotten or forgiven easily or quickly. In their minds, she has a great debt to pay and just showing up out of the blue and wanting to reenter their lives doesn't seem to be the best way to cancel or payback that debt that is owed.

I keep wondering where are Kim Bori's parents in all this? She has obviously been raised to be a loving (somewhat sheltered and niave)and strong person and was still in the family home at the age of 21-22. Her parents haven't come to visit in 7 months? I quess phone calls go --
"Hi Bori this is mom and dad how is your great job going?"
Things are just great here, I'm studying to be Top Chef at this neat restaurant I work in -- and I have lost of friends."
"Have you met a good man? I thought you were going to see your dentist friend."
"No he turned out to be sort of a loser -- but a nice man who helps manage the restaurant seems to be interested in me."
"Well when can we come down to see our grown-up little girl down in the big city?"
PAUSE -- "Gee mom I just don't know. I'm so busy and have so many new responsibilities. Now is not a good time. I'll come visit when can -- and I'll make sure to bring a big surprise!"
"OK -- Love you. Stay Safe and take care of yourself."
"love you too mom"
In any othter Korean soap wouldn't mom and dad made a surprise visit to Seoul? And gotten their big surprise early?
Guess we will just have to wait and see.

Talk about a difference in culture one of the main plots is show would never get any traction in the US market. In this country 45% of the births are out of wedlock. 68% black, 50% hispanic, and 22% white (Asian apparently too small to show up in the census states.)
Sad commentary on things here. But would a Bori - Sinho marriage have lasted more than a year or two? and would that have been any better for "healthy." Tough Call!

Episode 30-B (Sunday)
At a café, Insun again tells Jinho she doesn‛t want to see him. At the end of their conversation, Insun gets up and walks out. Jinho is crying but calls out to her to wait. Outside, JH beats on the car window, pleading with her not to leave him. Insun is sobbing, too, her own heart breaking at what she is doing to her son. Dongho turns and trys to get her to change her mind. Insun sharply tells DH to drive. JH is left in the street, crying while his mother drives away.
In anger and frustration, Jinho starts kicking and smashing the restaurant sign, the Christmas tree, etc. The women proprietors come out running out: "What in the world are you doing?!" Jinho falls to his knees, crying and yelling out his heartbreak...
At home, Bori brings some medication to the distraught Insun, wanting to know what has happened, IS is "white as a ghost". IS asks her to please leave the room. class ul IS: Dongho, did I do the right thing? About Bori, did I do the right thing by keeping it a secret from Sinho? No matter how much time has passed, you can‛t break a special bond. I didn‛t do anything for him. Even after all I said, seeing Jinho coming back... I‛m scared. I‛m frightened. What will we do when Healthy grows up and looks for his father? Abandoning a child is as painful as tearing flesh. What will we do then? I think I‛m committing a sin once more for the sake of my child. Shouldn‛t we notify Sinho? What should I do?
DH: I thought Sinho had to know, but I‛ve changed my mind. Even if he finds out, nothing will change. Perhaps things would get even worse. If Bori finds out who you are, she won‛t live here. Jang Sinho didn‛t want the child from the beginning. It must have been a fling. I‛m sure he has no feelings for her now. Plus, he‛s starting anew with Baek Sera. Even if he finds out about Bori or the baby, he won‛t be of much help.
IS: Right? If they meet, their resentment will only grow, right?
DH: You made the best decision, for Sinho and for Bori. (IS is nervously uncomfortable)In the kitchen, Bori makes porridge for Insun as Dongho enters, carrying two small packages... class ul DH: What are you doing?
BR: I‛m making porridge for Insun.
DH: She‛s had a tough day. I‛m sure she has no appetite.
BR: But you never know, so I want to be prepared... What‛s that? (the packages)
DH: Please have a seat (he goes to the table; they sit down) (DH places a cup of tea before her) Drink it... How does it taste?
BR: It‛s a little bitter, but it has a nice aftertaste. What kind of tea is this?
DH: It‛s goya tea. It‛s good for pregnant women, so I ordered it and it arrived today. Drink it whenever you have the time. You need to drink good tea for the baby.
BR: (embarrassed) Thank you. You shouldn‛t have.
DH: And this... (puts the other gift box in front of her... It is a cellphone)
BR: Dongho...
DH: You‛ll get bigger and I‛m worried about something happening to you. Press No.1. (she does. DH‛s phone begins ringing) It‛s my number. Call me if you need anything. I‛ll be there for you. Now, drink the tea and get some rest.
BR: Dongho... Why are you so good to me? Even though your mother was a single mother like me, if you‛re too good to me I feel burdened. More than anything, I don‛t want to depend on you.
DH: What‛s wrong with being dependent? Being dependent means you trust that person. If you‛re betrayed, you might not trust anyone. However, I don‛t want you to live like that. Forget about your past and make a new start. If you can trust, trust again. Depend on me if you can. I‛ll be there for you. (He leaves the kitchen...)Bori goes up into her room, opens her diary and seeing the "wedding" picture with Sinho. She turns to the cellphone, picks it up and presses on #1, staring at Dongho‛s name... She quickly closes the cellphone. "Healthy, I don‛t know why I try to fill your father‛s void with Dongho. I‛m afraid of finding myself depending on him. I can‛t. I don‛t have the right to. I can‛t, right, Healthy?" Bori is torn....
Over at the hospital, everyone waits in the corridor. The doctor comes out, says Dad is fine. They checked for a stroke, but he‛s fine. Junsik comes out, sees Sinho standing there, gives him a silent glare and walks away. Junsik doesn‛t want to be around his wife and daughters, either, and walks off by himself. Sinho tells Sera that it will be better if he doesn‛t see her father now. Sera tells SH she is grateful to find out how he feels about her. She smiles and tells him she will call him from home. Sinho is discouraged and worried...
Sinho arrives home. Ilnam comes into his room as he is taking off his coat... class ul IN: Did something happen? You look exhausted.
SH: It‛s nothing. (Ilnam knows his son)
IN: Is Sera‛s family still against you? (SH looks away) Is her father against it that much?
SH: Dad, I‛m sorry. You raised me well, but I‛ve been told I‛m not good enough. It‛s all my fault. I didn‛t take responsibility or treat people seriously. The worst thing is that I didn‛t know it was such a bad thing to do.
IN: Sinho... (consoling tone of voice)
SH: I‛ve had a lot to think about today. No matter how much time passes, I realized that I must take responsibility for my actions. I regret my past, as though it were a joke. Even if I was naive, when I think about Bori and the child... I don‛t know if I have the right to get married.
IN: Are you sincere about wanting to marry Sera?
SH: She‛s the first one to know me and understand me.
IN: Okay. It‛s good that you realize your mistakes. The matter with Bori breaks my heart, too, but you two weren‛t meant to be. She‛s kind and good. I‛m sure she‛s fine no matter where she is, so don‛t be too concerned. Get some rest.Bori in her room, writing in her diary. She pages back to the photo of Sinho, shakes her head as if to snap herself out of thinking about him, closes the diary and goes to bed for the night. Cut to Sinho, sleeplessly in bed, thinking. Cut to Sera coming downstairs at home. She sees her father sitting in the dark, drinking and deep in unhappy thought. She watches him a moment, then goes back upstairs.
The next morning, Bori serves a special fish for breakfast for Insun, since she hasn‛t been eating much lately. IS says she will eat, but the most important person in the household is Healthy, so Bori needs to eat, too. Dongho agrees. "Okay," says Bori, "thanks to Healthy, I‛m enjoying a luxurious life." IS asks if the baby is active these days. Yes, if it‛s a girl, Bori is worried she will be a tomboy. IS asks if the doctor has told her whether it‛s a boy or a girl? BR doesn‛t know, but she has an appointment today. IS says she will go along. Bori wants to be independent but Insun insists: "Do as I say. You‛re 7-months pregnant and must be careful of a premature birth. You can‛t go by yourself. Come to the restaurant by 3 o‛clock.
Inho getting ready for work. Ilnam comes into her room, asking why she‛s leaving so early... class ul IH: I have to stop by somewhere.
IN: Why did that woman come here yesterday? [Ex-wife] (Inho gets nervous)
IH: She wants to see her kids.
IN: (very calmly) Must you date him? I heard from your aunt that there are a lot of weird ex-wives. Even after a divorce, they make things hard. You still can‛t give him up?
IH: Dad, don‛t worry. Jeonseol will take care of it.
IN: No matter how hard I try, there‛s nothing to like about him. (Dad leaves...)Jeonseol, Inho, and the kids arrive at the orientation for Eunu‛s starting elementary school. Meanwhile, EX is at home looking at a photo from the pre-divorce days. Her lawyer calls... class ul Law: I reviewed the refutation from his lawyer.
EX: And?
Law: It‛s worse than we imagined. More than anything, due to your written promise, we‛re at a disadvantage.
EX: So?
Law: I hope there‛s a witness who can state that you were good to the children. Do you have anyone?
EX: Everyone turned their backs on me. (angrily) You know I don‛t have anyone. (gets ahold of herself) No, I‛ll think about it. Talk to you later. (hangs up)
EX: (to self) Jang Inho, I kneeled down in front of you, but you want to take me to trial? (she grabs her coat and leaves her apartment...)At the school orientation, all goes well. They take lots of family pictures of themselves and Eunu‛s happy experience. As a celebration, Jeonseol takes everyone out to a nice restaurant. Jiu feeds Inho some sloppy black bean-type noodles. Jiu kisses Inho on the lips, really liking her as her ‛mother.‛ One big, happy family....
EX goes to see her friend Juri (Sera‛s mom) at a design site, interrupting her in the middle of a walk through. class ul EX: Juri, can I talk to you?
JR: Can‛t you see I‛m working?
EX: It‛s very urgent. Can you make some time for me? (Juri gets rid of the guy she‛s talking with)
JR: I don‛t know what it‛s about, but I‛m in no position to help. With Sera‛s problem at home, I have no energy left.
EX: It‛s nothing. Just go to the trial and testify what a devoted mother I was.
JR: What? (in disbelief)
EX: Without your testimony, I can‛t see the kids. You told Jeonseol to let me see the kids.
JR: Yeongju...
EX: You‛ll do it, right? You can, right? You‛ll be on my side to get visitation rights?
JR: Jeonseol won‛t let you see the kids? If that‛s true, I can‛t lie and help you out.
EX: How can you do this to me? Even if I made a mistake, how can you turn your back on me? Lie? What did I do? That‛s how working mothers are. (getting herself worked up) Cooking and cleaning, is that what all mothers do? I did my best for the kids.
JR: You did your best? Never mind. If you really cared for them, did you ever go and look for them after the divorce? You didn‛t look for them. What did you do when Jeonseol came for help? You treated him like a beggar, gave him money, and told him never to come back. (EX doesn‛t want to hear this...) After all you did, how can you claim to have done your best? And being a mother? If Kang Min didn‛t break up with you, would you have looked for the kids?
EX: It was a mistake. I told you it was a mistake. (begins yelling) Why bring him up? It‛s over. Why bring it up all over again? Isn‛t it too cruel to lose everything over one mistake in life? No matter what it takes, I‛m going to get everything back. If you can‛t help me, don‛t stand in my way. (marches off in a huff)Back home after the orientation, the family is together. Inho is putting away Eunu‛s coat when she finds a small paper in his pocket. Eunu quickly grabs it away... class ul IH: What‛s this? Why are you hiding it? (Jiu pipes up)
Jiu: It‛s Mom‛s phone number. (Jeonseol is upset)
JS: She gave you her number? (Eunu nods ‛yes‛) Give it to me. (EN hands it over) Lee Eunu, you can‛t call her without my permission. Okay? (though JS has spoken calmly, he is upset and leaves the room)
IH: (smoothing Eunu‛s hair) It‛s okay. (IN goes to speak with JS) I have something to say. Let Eunu and Jiu see their mother.
JS: Inho...
IH: I know you are against it. I am, too. However, I don‛t want Eunu and Jiu to grow up like me. As you know, I hated and resented my mother throughout my life. It was painful and difficult. I don‛t want them to go through that. It might be better to let them forgive her and love her early on.
JS: We don‛t know what she‛ll do. It‛ll only confuse the kids.
IH: No, she‛s regretting and reflecting on her actions. She‛s a mother. She‛ll do well. Please, I beg you. Let her see them.EX is driving in her car, stewing over her situation... class ul EX: I can‛t see the kids? Says who? I‛ll use force if I have to. (Jeonseol calls...)
JS: Withdraw the suit. You can see them.
EX: Jeonseol...
JS: I‛ve decided to trust you. Let‛s meet and talk more in detail.
EX: Thank you. Thank you very much. I‛ll withdraw the suit. Thank you. (ends call) It‛s all set. (thinking to herself) Jang Inho, are you happy with my husband and my children? You‛re only a passerby. That place belongs to me.Sinho in his office, receives call from Jaera... class ul SH: Yes, Jaera. What‛s new? What? Okay. I‛ll be right there. (SH rushes to the police station where Jinho is being held)
SH: What happened? He misbehaved at a café?
JR: He must have last night. He stayed here and didn‛t call home. He finally called me today.
SH: Why would he do that?
JR: Yesterday, Jinho met his mother.
SH: What? (policeman brings Jinho out)
Cop: Are you his guardian? He‛s a young student. The café owner gave him a break. Teach him well.
SH: Thank you. (put his arm on JH...) Let‛s go... (Jinho walks away) Jaera, go home with Jinho. I have to go somewhere.Bori at home getting ready to meet Insun at the restaurant at 3p. Sinho on his way to see Insun, parks in the lot and unexpectedly confronts his mother in her office... class ul IS: What brings you here?
SH: I have something to say. (asks Dongho to leave)
IS: Sit down...
SH: No. I‛ll just speak from here. Even after I requested you not to, you met Jinho. Do you know how he is right now? After meeting you, he caused trouble and spent the night at a police station.
IS: What?
SH: Please, let me say this again... Please do not ever come and see us. Please let us live in peace. (starts to walk out)
IS: Hold on! How is Jinho? Is he hurt?
SH: (yells at her) Why are you doing this? With Sinho there, Dongho is worried, calls Bori and asks where she is. He tells her not to come in, to wait in the parking lot. Get the car key from the security guard and wait in Insun‛s car. At the parking shed, the guard asks if she will be here a few minutes, can she substitute for him while he runs to pick up some food? Yes, Bori will. Inside, Sinho is leaving. Angrily, he stops and glares at Dongho, then leaves. He goes to the kiosk, asks for his keys without looking. Bori hands him his keys and he takes them. Bori recognizes Sinho, he stops, looks back and sees it is Bori...
