KBS SYNOPSIS class ul 'Windy City’ is the story about the people who are struggling between love and separation, and muster up their courage to attain their true love and to perceive the genuineness of life.

Two non-identical individuals met and lived together. What is left in their lives in the end? What are they achieving, and what are they loosing? They gain wealth, success, and they have a child — Let’s stop this out-of-date thinking. Since the two cannot be the same till the very end, wouldn’t it be better to just live as two individuals, instead of a married couple? And, there is one thing that we should remember about others. Before we have our roles as a husband, a wife, a parent, a son and a daughter, we are all human beings who have the right to accomplish our own genuine lives.

So what the synopsis is suggesting is that the General Manager and Yeonha (?) aren't married? But they have a son together? Is that why she says she'd be forever grateful even if he cheats on her and have another child?

Because it looks like Mr. Icy has a special interest in the new PD from the preview clips.

edit: nchristi, this morning drama isn't the TV Novel, this morning drama is the one that would air about an hour or so later after the TV Novel in Korea.

Caught the 1st episode...more by surprise, since I was expecting MDU...but looks kind of interesting!!

However, not sure how the "attraction" between the General Manager & PD will play out?? Seems like a big age difference between the two & could be a bit "tricky" emoticon

So many characters introduced in the first episode. I took notes on 20. Have to get a few more episodes under my belt to clearly understand all the relationships and connections.

"Icy" is so strange. He looks like an alien from another planet in some of his silent poses. Those glasses don't help.

It's good to see the actor playing Mr. Choi as a light-hearted, upbeat character. The two times I've seen him before he played "Half-brain" in River and then the evil manager in the drama about the presidential body guards.

Re: K-Drama: 아내와 여자 (Windy City)

I don't know about this one. What a bunch of depressed (and depressing) people! As I was watching tonight, I had a bad feeling that this one might be a whole lot less exciting than River was. Yeow.

I wonder what the daughter's problem is with having her parents stay at her home? She was so thankful and relieved when her husband (or whatever he is) said last night that he would support them for the rest of their lives. She sure had a major attitude change in less than 24-hours.

Two good guys: the art teacher and the doctor son. Will have to wait and see about the unemployed younger brother married to the witch—who seems to be having an affair behind his back.

The PD, Ms. Yang, looks happy and somewhat upbeat. Do you think the woman who arrived by plane to visit her mother in the hospital is the doctor's ex-wife? Or are they strangers fated to meet one another?

TOTALLY agree on all of your points, nchristi...

Too many depressed people...not sure how long I'll keep watching, if they don't liven things up a bit emoticon

K-Drama: 아내와 여자 (Windy City)

I don't think I like the show. I am not impress with the cast and the story. For me the shows that were worth watching were: Mom's Dead Upset, Women in the Sun, The Happy Woman, King Sejong and all Dae Joyoung shows.

Re: K-Drama: 아내와 여자 (Windy City)

Last night was episode #3, subtitled "Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz."

To be fair, nearly every new drama in this time slot is usually pretty hard to get into, taking a while to catch on. But I can't recall one as "down" and boring! Holy cow! We have so many different pods of people and each pod is morose as h*ll!

Okay, so let's take a look at what we have here so far...

Core family - Three adult children with destitute parents... class ul Park Yunha (Yeonha) (older sister) - Depressed Team Mgr. at DaDa Homeshopping Network class ul Living with GM Gwon Taehwan, Ice Alien, who is about to stray with new young and energetic PD Kang Huisu, who wants to glom onto her ideal man, The Alien
Seungil - Son in early teens (?)
Elderly parents, destitute, move in
class ul Park Junha (son #1) - Kind doctor class ul Single, but obviously with a backstory. Probably past heartbreaker relationship with Yeojin (from USA), daughter of terminal cancer patient Kim Geumhui of Rm 508 class ul Park Changha (son #2) - Loser younger brother class ul Unemployed househusband of selfish, arrogant on-air celebrity host wife Kim Jaeran (who seems to be having an affair elsewhere). She treats him with contempt. He meets up with his ex-GF, Lee Jagyeong, who is now married to Dr. Hwang (Junha's new best friend), having a daughter Areum. Jagyeong, too, treats him with contempt and is making him her patsy.
Unggi - young son of Changha and Jaeran.
Both father and son are being dominated respectively by Lee Jagyeong and her young daughter Areum. (Seems to be their purpose for living, calling their victims "subordinates.")
class ul Seo Ukhyeon, art teacher class ul Married to Seo Jongmi, wheelchair bound after a car accident in which their daughter (?) was killed. Wife sulks and cries all the time/not interested in living. Hospitalized with industrial strength spasms. Husband's parents are shrews who hate their DIL because of all the money their son has spent on her care. Husband is always a silent martyr, except probably when with his art students. In previews, parents are angrily threatening that if he doesn't give them $30K, they will move in with him! (Oh happy days!)DaDa Homeshopping Network... class ul General Manager - Gwon Taehwan
Team Manager - Park Yunha (Yeonha) (his common-law wife)
On-Air programming Director? - Mr. Choi ("half-brain" from River)
New Team Manager - Kim Jinsu (replaced Mr. Lee who was having an affair with Yang Sumi when his wife came to the station and created a scandal)
Position? - Jieun (female employee in parking lot who ran to Yang Sumi's aid when the wife and friends were beating her up over the affair)
Okay, everybody... Got all that! One big, happy family. LOL!

While there are a few good actors in this one, I am left with the feeling that I'm viewing a local old folks' home putting on a drama as a project. High school drama classes are better than some of this stuff. How'd you like our househusband's performance sitting at the table feeling sorry for himself?! Sheesh! I've never seen such lousy acting as that scene! emoticon emoticon

Two new vocabulary terms from last night's episode: class ul class li CV - Resumé/job application class li Hygienic Bands - I'm afraid to ask! (must be what we know as 'sanitary pads')

Re: K-Drama: 아내와 여자 (Windy City)

I think this drama is going to be great.... a real juicy soap opera. Guess I'll just post and talk to myself if the rest of you can't get into it. emoticon

Interesting how the two sets of older parents are different. The parents who lost all their money in the stock market are so greatful while the art teacher's parents EXPECT to be taken care of.

How awful to be so young and crippled from a car accident. class blockquote Do you think the woman who arrived by plane to visit her mother in the hospital is the doctor's ex-wife? Or are they strangers fated to meet one another?I thought she was the same girl who was in the picture the Director Brother was looking at early on.

Re: K-Drama: 아내와 여자 (Windy City)

I try to give dramas at least two weeks before I throw in the towel. This one... I don't know. The only characters I find even remotely interesting are Park Junha (doctor), Yeojin his former GF), and Dr. Hwang (whose wife and/or the translator so kindly call "Fatso").

The parents who have moved in with Alien and Yeonja take the cake. The mother drives me nuts. What a complainer and nagger. The father is equally annoying, just in other ways.

The artist... does he have a pulse?! His disabled wife seems bitter. That's understandable. Now she's jealous of Yeonha. Understandable, too. I doubt she dropped the bowl of food and was worried about broken glass in it. She's looking like some sort of psycho who is not only jealous but also actively (and secretly) vindictive. For all we know, she might even be faking her paraplegia just to keep her husband imprisoned with guilt.

Then there's Alien. I strongly suspect he's really from Roswell, New Mexico. The way he stands and stares, or sits and stares is too creepy. Ice Prince? Oh, puuleeeze....

I realized last night that one of the things that is making this one unpleasant is the lack of decent background music. Either it's single note plinking here or there, or a few bars on a synthesizer. Boring. Very boring....

I'm getting absolutely no good vibes out of this drama. It seems to be wallowing in the baser side of human nature. The basic plot, so far, is little more than watching them all toy with infidelity and/or setting their sights on people already "taken." Personally, I don't enjoy that. I'm really turned off by how depressing and annoying too many of these characters are—at least so far.

So, I'll give this one more week. If I still feel the same, I probably won't post on it because I would only be negative each time and I don't want to be a one-note-Johnny who only posts the same complaint week after week.
