Oreo9935.. So glad you joined us. I tried to watch this but kept missing episodes. When I do find it, I watch. I think it's great!! So many of our favorite actors. I even see that beautiful detective from Happy Woman in it.

The actor playing the son (Song) is doing another great job. I loved him in Yi San and I enjoy him in BOF also.

Normally I have a difficult time following historical dramas but this one is very easy to get involved in.

nsheldon..I love historical dramas when when they are well produced which this one is as well as many of the Japanese historical dramas which are usually outstanding.

I don't know how accurate it is. I watch it on KBS World from 6:45-7:45 PM Saturday and Sunday. Also, you can get it on line.

Thanks Pali... Though I'm not in the the historical dramas, this one (Iron Empress) grabs you no matter what episode you start on. I missed many of the earlier episodes but it was still very interesting/entertaining.

They had started a Japanese historical (followed Princess Atsu) but I think we only got 3 or 4 episodes then it was moved or something. I know I never saw it again. It was excellent though... I heard it was on MySoju or something. When I get a chance I may try to watch that one again. Forgot the guys name who starred in it but he was also the lead in the Japanese drama "The Man Who Would Not Marry" (something like that)... That was a really cute drama and i heard they are getting ready to make it into a Korean drama as well... Can't wait!!

Hello, Oreo! Sorry I can't help you as I have rabbit ears and watch through digital box.

Pali, I saw in another thread you asked if anyone is watching this. I AM!! [waving with both arms] emoticon I've been watching quite a few of the dramas, but been really busy to take the time to post. I can't believe how many dramas there are now both K and J. emoticon

OKAY! Let's start discussing this one.

The King here seems to be like most rulers.... jealously/fear and afraid of losing the throne. emoticon

Little Cutie Pie [aka Song] - what do you guys think, when he had that seizure, do you think that was from extreme nerves or do you think the beginnings of epilepsy?

Sister of Iron Empress - what guts she had when she left the castle to find and join her true love. How sad was it when The King had him arrested and then she dies in childbirth. Can't recall if we've seen the baby again.

Okay, The Trio - the two guys and gal who joined up with Iron Empress a few eps back who have their own secret mission. I'm confused, is he also a Prince? If I understand it correctly, they 'teamed up' with Iron Empress to work their way back to The King?

Sat's ep (4/25) - I figured nothing bad would happen to Iron Empress when they traveled through that Pass, but had to laugh that they survived the attack from the Scout Party.

I enjoy this drama a lot, but sometimes the pacing is a little slow.

Here's what I remember, though I didn't see everything from the beginning. I don't know if he is a 'prince,' but I believe his father was the head of a tribe that was forced to leave their land (defeated by others). The survivors then joined and interbred with another tribe and were attacked by one of the kings in Iron Empress' family. His father and many others were savagely annihilated and it has been The Trio's goal in life to infiltrate through Iron Empress and avenge their family. I might have this wrong, but that's the impression I got.

I watch this every week, but I missed last night. Wouldn't ya know?! Just when IE finally gets on all her warrior gear and lets loose, I miss it! I've been waiting for this turn of events since the beginning. I'll have to find a place to watch it on-line, I guess.

K-Drama: 천추태후 (The Iron Empress)

I am enjoying watching this one but I can't imagine women of their stature being able to wield swords with such force and power agains men the way they are depicted in this drama. But Lady Sundeok (sp?) was truly resourceful, wise (trusts the counsel of others and doesnt just rely on her own thoughts and ideas) and unwavering in her resolve to protect her country and her son. Tender moment last night when she confessed to wishing she had a different fate..just to be a woman that didn't excel at "arrows and horses"...actually I see her portrayed as a woman that has it all...strength, beauty and sex appeal...

K-Drama: 천추태후 (The Iron Empress)

This just started last night on WMBC - a regular as against cable channel - in the NYC/NJ area. I see some familiar faces from DaeJoYoung including Gulsabiwu, DJY's father and a lot of the warriors look sort of familiar.

My question to you folks who are more educated in Korean historical drama - what is the time relationship between this one and DJY? Thanks!

The one they call the master is the only surviving son of an aristocratic family from the Silla dynasty. They were are assassinated by others who wanted control and are now part of the leaders of Koryo. The Silla dynasty was defeated by the dynasty now ruling. The three are trying to create a new country with the Juchens.

I think the tribe that the assasin brother/sister and their master (Happy Woman's detective) belong to are the refugees from the fall of Dae Jo Young's kingdom (which lasted from 700-920 AD.)

I already enjoy this more than King Sojoing (try as I might just couldn't find much excitment in inventing the alphabet.) This show has war, sex and cute/handsome actors and actresses.

As to the lost lovers (dead sis and whimpy prince from Seoul 45 -- he never has any luck with women), they had to be complete idiots not to realize that if the king's brother and the former king's wife have a boy child the childless current king is going to feel VERY threatened at the birth of another potential rival -- and act accordingly. No big surprize that he wants to take this child into his custody -- so it can't be used as a weapon against him. In other times and places that child would have an almost zero life expectancy!

Re: K-Drama: 천추태후 (The Iron Empress)

Thanks to all for the background of The Trio!!

nchristi, not to rub it in emoticon , but the ep you didn't get to see IE in a battle was fun to watch. No major jumping in the air fighting (like the two guys did on that bridge a week or two ago), but 'the 60' survived hundeds and hundreds of arrows and the one-on-one fighting was the usual 7to1 battles. emoticon . And, the best part was when IE was running, pulling an arrow from behind and shotting without missing her target.

I thought it was interesting that the other tribe were wearing dreadlocks... at least that was what it looked like to me.

Sunday's battle - they had the spiked baracades to prvent horses from jumping over, but the baracades were "open" and allowed the arrows to pass through.

I don't think they had the chance to light the fire, but will be interesting to see what happens now.

I hope Little Cutie Pie stays safe. class blockquote This show has war, sex and cute/handsome actors and actresses.LOL!! Heaven!
