Re: K-Drama: 천추태후 (The Iron Empress)

How the relationship between IE and Foreman Kim plays out should be interesting. He has influence but she is also very aware of not giving him a high position and power, unlike her counterpart Queen over in Liao (sp?). However, IE is pretty much putty in his hands and I'm sure he will get what he wants if he plays his cards right.

I've lost interest and empathy for IE ever since she shot her own brother in the back in the carriage in front of her. Well, she actually shot and killed a plant, but had it been the King, he would have been murdered by her. But that's the game all the Royals seem to be playing—power, power, who's got the power... or can grab and keep it.

I guess our loyalties are supposed to go with Iron Empress, but I actually enjoyed her son's ripping up all the high mucky mucks (including IE) for their hypocrisy in condemning other officials for what they all do/did themselves when the shoe was on the other foot.

The best highlight (and much too short) was finally seeing the $10,000 crown the Iron Empress wore for her son's investiture as the next Emperor. Best crown (most beautiful and attractive) I've seen so far in one of these historicals. Here's a photo of it, though it looks more impressive in the episode than it does here in the publicity photo shoot.

Is the new Emperor the same actor as the lead in Boys Over Flowers? The mad faces look similar!

No, not one of the F4 boys. This king's wild behavior reminds me very much of his father, though. Remember how crazy and wild the King was—the one married to both the Iron Empress and her sister (who later ran off with the other prince who didn't want any part of politics)?

The name of the actor playing Mok Jong (IE's son and current Emperor) is Lee In. In his previous dramas (before 2009), he went by the name Lee Joon (Yi Jun).

OK, thanks! I think he does a good job as Mad King II.

K-Drama: 천추태후 (The Iron Empress)

He was in a morning KBS World drama just a short time ago and played an entirely different character. The name of the show eludes me.

Re: K-Drama: 천추태후 (The Iron Empress)

IE is actually mirrowing the other female Empress. IE has picked up ALL the traits of the other female empress including female body gards.

Can't believe IE didn't get rid of the late King's consort. Hellooo, doesn't she think the consort is going to be a spy for Liao. I thought for sure she (consort) would want to be with IE's son.

Also, I thought the IE said a couple weeks ago that Kim was not going to be part of the Court. How fast she changed her promises including arresting the "Queen".

I feel sorry for the IE's son.... he really never had a decent life.... as a child and now. I hope he can find happiness with his bride.

Looks like history is repeating itself. The same was true with IE's husband, the King. He had a miserable life until he briefly found genuine happiness with IE and an untimely death overtook him.

I miss that king. He was my favorite actor in this drama.

Re: K-Drama: 천추태후 (The Iron Empress)

This one's been getting really interesting the last few episodes. Iron Empress has given birth to Slime Dog's baby. Kim Chi Yang is getting closer and closer to being found out, and committing more heinous crimes (murders) to keep his true identity and motives from being exposed.

Hyangbi got shot in the back by Commissioner Kim and her husband strongly suspects that his wife was murdered to keep her from telling others she found out about Kim's identity. Commissioner Kim is so clever, isn't he? In the court meeting before the Empress, he deliberately baits Gang Jo into losing his control and trying to kill him. This, of course, will result in the Iron Empress having to send Gang Jo away to keep him from killing Kim. Exactly Kim's plan. Remove Gang Jo from the court, freeing himself to carry on with his sinister plans to gain control of the throne.

I wonder if Saila will be the one to finally expose Kim Chiyang? She's in love with him (isn't she?), yet he is cruelly murdering too many innocent people in his way. After Chiyang murdered Hyangbi right before Saila's eyes, I got the feeling Saila might not want to keep going down this path in life.

Usually, I don't care a whole lot about the 'bad guys' getting theirs, but in this case I'm looking forward to Kim Chiyang getting payback. He will deserve every ounce of retribution wrought upon him—and I hope it is at the hands of Gang Jo.

Gang Jo is one of my fave all round guys. I especially like the way he grunts, like Tonto.

I like Choi Jae Sung, too. (I thought I heard him utter kemo sabe under his breath once....) This is the first time I've seen him in a historical. It was kind of a little culture shock for me because I've only seen him as a mob boss, or some other hard-hearted type. It was fun to see him in this role.
