Re: K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)
Thanks, nchristi. I'm also having trouble with "Daejin" being the son in this one--he and his "father" are about the same age in real life, I should think.
I don't think Yoon Yeo Jeong had a facelift. She looks younger here than in Worlds Within, but I think it's just the way her makeup has been done. When I saw her in So This is Love, she looked older, and that was over 5 years ago. In So This is Love, her husband was played by the same actor as here!
The fellow playing the father (cooking in the kitchen) was just playing a character who was beheaded by Song Il Gook in Kingdom of the Winds! His hair looked funny in that one, too, because they gave him white "wings." LOL

K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)
Agree the Yu grandfather and GGF look to be around the same age. It seems strange casting where the father looks younger than the son,and will take time getting used to.

Re: K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)
Thanks for mentioning Lee Jin Wook, nsheldon. I just saw him elsewhere but couldn't quite place where I knew him from until you mentioned Formidable Rivals (the disturbed son of the President).
The Road Home.... Sigh.... Such a good drama, it seems, but I'm finding KBS-LA's editing beyond explanation! There is actually less air time for this 40-minute drama that they used to show for our 7:30p drama, Windy City. And then they wasted the first couple minutes refreshing our memories about the dang watch, as though we're idiots and wouldn't be able to figure out which watch Mom and Suin were talking about! At first, I thought we were going to be seeing yet another repeat of an episode.
So, let's see... Episode 4 gave us two pieces of the story. 1) Suin divorced her husband two months ago (we don't know why); Mom is sick in bed over it; Mom finally tells Dad; Dad is shocked and demands to know 'why'. 2) Suin needs a job and her friend is lining her up for one—guess where? Yep, at her ex-true love's TV station.
Oh, and I almost forgot. We got a little backstory on GR-Grandfather and his present lady companion, Hyosun. They've known each other from grade school. She was the fancy girl from the city, who fell in love at first sight with him. GGF, however, must have liked his other schoolmate, MyeongJa, since he ended up marrying her. However, GGF did mention that their families were very close and that he wished Hyosun had spoken up back in grade school days. I got the impression that he had a family-arranged marriage with MyeonJa but wasn't too into it on the happiness scale.
In episode #1, GGF was visiting two gravestones, one was his son Yonghwan (1957–1983) (brother of Drunk Dr); the other his wife Myeongja (1934–1984). The wife died a year after her son was killed at the age of 26.
Okay, I'll try to watch the unedited epi #4 (without e-subs) and see if I can pick up anything else important. I sure hope KBS-LA gets their act together soon on this one, or else just drop it all together. What they're giving us is worse than not seeing any of it, IMO.

Re: K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)
Road #4
Hyeonsu flashback to college. Meets Suin in ampitheater. Tells her he is joining the military. She is stunned; says it sounds like an excuse to get away from her. He says he can‛t handle marriage now. Suin is stunned, angry, disappointed. Cries and walks away, leaving him sitting on the steps.
Hiro joins the model agency; Red Glasses and the girls take him out for drinks and food.
Some home scenes of Minsu‛s wife with the kids; Minsu is the absentee father, as usual for him. He wanders in late, isn‛t interested in saying goodnight to his kids, or in being with his wife. He gets dressed for bed. They argue (I think she suspects he is with other women?). He‛s more interested in the looks of his complexion in the mirror; tells her to draw him a bath. When she does, she finds him already asleep on the bed.
[Side point, I read on Soompi that this drama originally had Minsu and his wife as the main characters. I believe it was the actor who played Dojin in Worlds Within who was supposed to play Minsu, but backed out. So did a replacement. The current Minsu is choice #3 but he doesn‛t have the acting chops or audience appeal, so they rewrote Minsu and Wife as a secondary storyline—a disappointment to the actress playing the wife, since she signed on originally in the female starring role.]
Yongseon (the crabby sister of the Drunk Dr). Her husband is a bus driver. They have a teenage daughter, Sinae. Wife is cold, but daughter very warm and takes care of her dad.
The person on the scooter who delays the bus is the son of Spaghetti Dad (Suin's little brother?). He and Sinae, the daughter of Crabby Sister, are friends or almost BF/GF it seems. At any rate, they are close friends in this drama. After the bus/scooter incident, Sinae sees her friend and realizes he is the guy on the scooter. She jumps all over him for not paying attention and being in the bus' way.
Looks like Spaghetti Dad is the CEO of the modeling agency, Red Glasses and Jisu's boss.

nchristi, so funny! Much more interesting than the actor's real names--Drunk Dr., Spaghetti Dad (!), Red Glasses, Crabby Sister! Love it

K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)
Well, this show is already better than "My Destiny." Let's us hope it doesn't become a disappointment.
If you can get KBS World, there is less cutting of scenes.

K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)
Even though they now show 2 to 3 min of commercials, the last 2 episodes on KBS World seem to have minimal deletions. One can only guess about the divorce, although the absence of children might have played a role. Is she pregnant now?

Re: K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)
The KXLA 44/44.1 schedule has been revised. Starting next week (03/03–03/15), the drama start time has been revised to 8:24p (instead of 8:20p.
Back to the drama, I think we are seeing more than we were when it first began airing. I noticed Friday night that it started a minute or two before 9:30p. I also noticed when I watched the unedited version that we didn't miss a whole lot. One major scene was deleted and some minor stuff. Here are my comments and notes for Friday's episode #5... class ul Suin‛s sister, Sumi, is sure a nasty-spirited little thing. Her excuse is that Mom and Dad greatly favored Suin over her. Jealousy and resentment. I didn't recognize her as the girl in the Model Academy class who has an eye for Hiro until I saw her name in the e-sub. She looks so different with her hair up! She also thinks she's big-time important because her father (Spaghetti Dad) is the head of the Model agency.
So, Suin is pregnant! Wait till S-Dad hears about this!
Road #5
Minsu at home in a good mood. Feeds his kids slices of orange. Miryeong‛s in a good mood; feeds Minsu a bowl of tonic; kids quickly feed him an orange segment to take away the bad taste. Since her husband is finally in a good mood, Miryeong gets herself dolled up and ready for bed; Minsu in the den playing video game on his computer. Miryeong wants him to come to bed; he‛s tired and prefers the computer. They argue and she leaves, upset.
Spaghetti Dad meets with his former son-in-law‛s father?? A major scene. Looks like he finds out from his in-law that Suin is the one who left and asked for the divorce. Dad can‛t believe it. [And I can‛t believe how they‛ve dyed the FIL actor‛s hair a dark reddish-brown and painted on light charcoal grey eyebrows! Very distracting.] The in-law is mega-angry about the divorce, gets all worked up in arguing with Spaghetti Dad about Suin in a very threatening way. The FIL talks a lot (very angrily) about Suin. Obviously, he's heard about her from his son, Songtae. From the Google translation there was a possible hint that Suin was involved with another man and, if so, then FIL will make sure there will be no alimony or settlement. (Suin‛s FIL is the head of a big corporation and is very rich.) (Can someone who watches KBS World confirm or clarify this scene?)
Suin‛s mother is a hospital volunteer for terminal cancer patients. She reads to a patient who clutches rosary.
