Re: K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)
No, no Brad6, please don't misunderstand. I should have been clearer. I wasn't comparing the talent of Billy DeWolfe to this actor's. I remember how wonderful and funny he was. But, this actor's look is so overdone. Probably the little mustache. You expect to see this guy as the villain, tying the damsel to the train tracks and twirling his mustache. My first impression of him was funny. Of course Ex turns out NOT to be funny, in any sense of the word.
I'm not where you on the west coast are in this drama, but I believe Suin is going to get close to reconciliation with this man, if not all the way. Though I'm sure it won't take. We have many episodes to fill.
I agree, being gay/bi has nothing to do with why he is, how he is. I do think his own abuse as a child and growing up contributed to that.
The gay/bi thing only says more about what Suin had to contend with as his wife. A male lover would be just as bad as having another woman sharing your household, except the male could be passed off as his best friend. A woman would be more obvious. Either way, Suin was not leading the life she expected to lead as his wife. Then add the violence and this girl's life had to be hell.
I'll be waiting to see this unfold.

Re: K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)
I thought last night's episode was an especially good one, covering all the main storylines well.
So now Hyeonsu and his mom know Suin is not the bio-daughter of S-Mom. That's good. Hyeonsu will keep that little bit of info tucked away for a while, since right now Suin has enough on her plate because of EX's violent temper. The family connection is still socially unacceptable, though probably to a much lesser degree since Suin has no blood tie with S-Mom, Hyeonsu's aunt by marriage.
Loved how strong and in control Suin was when she met with Ex. Also liked how she didn't stoop to his level when he was trying to bait her at the end. She told him calmly that she pitied him having the temperament he does and how he will not get help for himself.
Mr. Han has decided to use legal channels to fight back against Ex's sabotage. He will now go forward with suing the models who broke their contracts and jumped ship in going over to Ex's company. It looks as though he has found a way to broadcast Hyeonsu's single mom documentary project. And he is taking steps to calm down the irate investors.
Red Glasses got on Jisu's case for paying too much attention to Hiro and not enough to what's going on with the other models. Funny seeing Hiro at home watching Boys Over Flowers and repeating Junpyo's dialog as a way to practice Korean. Nice to see how sensitive and caring he is about Jisu and what she is going through. (He handles the puppy kindly, too!)
I'm going to have to put a barf bag beside my chair! Ex's mother was too much last night, wasn't she?! I hope Suin tells the driver to just put all that baby stuff back in the car and take it all away. Will she be super polite as she usually is? Or will she take a stand against her former MIL, too?
On Ex's father - It is not uncommon for abusers to pick on only one person within a family. I have seen fathers who regularly abuse one child but never lay a hand on the wife or other children. It is entirely possible that EX's father beat him but didn't abuse his wife.
The scenario I imagine in EX's family is that the father was bitterly disappointed in seeing his only son having feminine tendencies from the beginning, not being the traditional 'manly' type the father wanted. Many fathers view having a gay son as a reflection on their own manhood (lack thereof). Some have a hard time dealing with it and accepting a gay son for who he is as a person, regardless of sexual orientation. I can fully see Dad ignorantly and foolishly trying to beat EX's gayness out of him—especially since we saw what an explosive, irrational temper the father has even in his old age (meeting with Suin's father).

K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)
Am I the only person who thinks HS is too good for Suin?! She's like shocked to find out that her ex-husband wants to fight her for the baby. Can anyone be as naive as she is!? If my husband beats me to a pulp and I have to stay in the hospital for a month after the beating, I don't care about the right-to-lifers, I wouldn't want to keep that baby! She keeps saying that she respects life and she values life. That's a good motto to live by, but imagine looking at your ex's child and god forbid that the baby looks like him, wouldn't the baby remind you of your ex everyday (and the terrible you two had before the divorce?!) If the ex is a terrible person, why would you want to perpetuate his genes!?
For the last 60 episodes, it's back and forth between HS and Suin's YES we can be together one moment and NO we cannot be together another moment. Enough already!
But I must say, that Lee Sang-Woo is so easy on the eyes. It's hard to describe his face. All features are kind of ordinary, but when they are put together in the right place, they look great. Why am I deconstructing his face?! Anyways, his bright smile doesn't hurt either. Although Jang Shin-Yang (Suin) and Lee Sang-Woo have similar built (tall and slender) and similar face (round and pleasant), I feel they lack chemistry as a couple. Lee Sang-Woo can act, so it helps that he can look at his leading lady with soulful and mournful eyes. But in comparison, Jan Shin-Yang needs a lot of improvement in acting. So it's a bit torturous to watch the two together. Lee Sang-Woo might as well be there by himself doing a soliloquy because my eyes are all on him!
This show has odd casting. They have a father-son duo who looks like brothers and an ex-husband who looks like a 20 year-old in fake mustache and hair trying to look 35! Couldn't they cast a charismatic 35 year-old man to play Suin's ex? I mean that ex looks so skinny that I think if Suin tries to hit back, she can beat him into a pulp instead because she seems like a big girl. Anyway, part of the enjoyment of watching KBS dramas in this time slot is that I can criticize it to death, but I'll still watch it.
All I can say is--hurry up with the storyline! How long can this "can't marry a pregnant divorcee" storyline go on?!
I can't wait until Lee Sang-Woo is done with this drama and moves on to a better scripted drama.

K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)
smoochie1, nsheldon!!! You guys are funny!
Lee Sang Woo gained some weight (or buffed up) during the course of this show (or the fact that he is always wearing that thick jacket). If you see some of his modeling photos from the past, he's a toothpick! For a guy that tall, it's too much to be so skinny! Oh, I think he buffed up for the Andre Kim fashion show (around the time he started this drama, I think). Go to his link on Soompi and there are some see-through outfits that Andre put him in.....well, it's a MUST-SEE, gals!!! He is definitely BUFFED-UP! ha ha ha ha ha. I love beef-cakes!
