K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)
Thank the lucky stars for you guys! It appears that the funding has been put on the chopping block in PA for some television stations (public and independent) and now they are breaking in right in the middle of the Korean dramas at midnight begging for money and "softly" threatening the loss of the Korean dramas if they dont' get more funding from the public. The problem with this station "mind" tv is that the Korean dramas are really the only thing worth watching and funding will be a real problem. it's not a PBS station any longer, that changed a little while ago, so who knows the outcome. I will be really peeved if we lost the dramas in Philadelphia After so many years of watching them I'll miss them so much if we lose them. they are my one guilty pleasure.
Again I'm slightly behind you on the episode number but I'm so bad I read here so I know what's coming up. hahahaha
We are just at the time when Minsu is feverishly begging everyone for money and I'm really finding him very annoying at the moment, but not as much as that Chowon woman. But in another way I'm glad the family is deep into money drama, maybe the mother will get off her high horse about who her son ends up with for a bride. That is and has always been a bit of trouble for me to reconcile in my mind, the everlasting interference that the mother's foist on their children in these dramas...who they should be with and who they should not be with.
Luckily for me we are also watching High as the Sky.. etc., at the same time so I get to rewatch Muyeong and Jisu again and we are right at the time of the "kiss in the park" episode again, which will be tomorrow night. There are times in these dramas that are truly great to watch. That is one of the moments I really enjoyed that I get to watch again.
If we lose the dramas I'll have to resort to finding DVD's. Now I relish the unwinding at the end of the day with the gentle people in a place far away from my own culture.. Or I"ll just have to move somewhere where they have a PBS that isn't in danger of having going out of business pleas!
thanks again for all the posts that help keep me up to date and explain the things I dont' undertand about the culture.
Susan
ps. I anxiously await the episdoes concerning the EX.. we haven't met him here yet. sounds like quite guy and I'm ready to dislike him intensly!

I'm sure as of now those watching the Dramas are probably the only ones watching this station any longer. It was a PBS channel, but for some reason one day it just "wasn't" PBS any longer. It became an independent viewer membership station, and now basically they only show 5 minute segments day and night made by the viewers themselves, and not to be judgmental, almost all of them are just not worth watching. As an example one of the "5 minute mind segments" was an artist's vid. The artist (and I am an artist so I can speak about this with at least a little knowledge) anyway the artist took a video of one painting they had done, an abstract painting in acrylic I think, and that was it. Just 5 minutes of various camera tricks, i.e., zooming in and out of just one paiting. I believe the deal is if you are a "member" of the station, which is only a few dollars, you can send in a 5 minute segment of anything you want to send. It's a good concept, but the quality of the videos is just not very good at all. I dont' think they have any jurying or judging of what might be watchable, I believe they show anything that is sent in. No regular programming with the exception of the Korean news at 11 pm, followed by the dramas, two of them. so I guess they expect the Korean watching audience to foot the bill for the entire station, they are asking for donations of 250, etc. One can buy the DVD's cheaper than subsidizing them on this station. Apparently the state was giving them funds but with everything else, government funding is being taken away from many places.
I know they are on PBS channels across the river in NJ, so my hope is if they take them off this station mabye another PBS channel somewhere close enough to get reception will pick them up. I will be really put out if I lose them. they along with my cup of tea at night are the relaxation before sleep I've been enjoying for so many years.

Your station problems canvaswriter, might also be related to the digital switch in June, when some smaller stations will go black. Hope others on this site can direct you to internet sites where some dramas are available. I know our programs are available on local stations because Korean advertisers are able to support them.

I agree with Sumi. If Hyeonsu did not stop Suin at the airport, she would have gone to N. Zealand & the ex would not have known about her being with his child. Now that the secret is out, her ex & his family will follow her at the ends of the earth to get custody of the child. It will be wise for her to stay in Seoul with her parents who will surely protect her.
Hyeonsu's knowing that Suin was not his Aunt biological daughter did not mean anything to him??

I think that our Hyeonsu is not only struggling with the "grey area" in his relationship with Suin (the love of his life) but also with his duty and responsibility as a filial son, and most recently with many people's (and possibly including his) view that all that is happening is his fault. His love for Suin is so great and deep, I think the only way he thinks he can protect her is to remove himself. Of course we all see him as being the perfect match for her...only time will tell.
