K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)
Auntie does have a way of speaking that makes you shake your head and say, "what's with this woman?" but in this case, I have to say that although it was harsh for Jisu to learn of her true identity this way, she wasn't expected to home this early, they didn't hear her come in and Auntie and Doctor Mom were talking in the privacy of Doctor Mom's room. Hearing this shocking news was meant to be and we all know Jisu was beginning to put things together already herself. Still sad but she for one was blessed to have been raised by a very loving and close family that we know will never leave her side...too bad S-mom's mother isn't around to get the lashing that she deserves!

...I have this question that keeps bothering me and I did not see if it was addressed. I would like to know how Seongtae had the nerve to say he would PERMIT the single mom documentary to be run. Where does he get the authority? If Suin's dad had a producer of some station that would show it what does that have to do with Seongtae? Seongtae's family company is very powerful, apparently, and he is able to control the TV execs through his strong arm tactics of either financial ruin or giving them a big 'plum' in payoffs, investment, or other perks.
You have to remember, too, that the Seoul financial world is almost like a small town atmosphere. Even though Seoul is a sprawling city of approx. 11million inhabitants, there are chaebols (family owned run groups/monopolies) that are enormously powerful.
In the drama, Seongtae is using his father's company to block Mr. Han at every turn. First he takes over approval or denial of loans Mr. Han is seeking to keep his business afloat and growing. Since that doesn't work, he then takes away Mr. Han's business by 'stealing' the models from his agency (lucrative contracts if they leave Mr. Han), forces the TV stations to deny airing Han's programs, etc.
When he had a change of heart, Seongtae then said he would 'permit' [a translation] the programs to be aired. "Permit" may or may not have been the best word equivalent in English. You always have to take the e-subs with a grain of salt. Many times such words have a different connotation within the Korean culture than they do here in the States, so our reaction to such a word may be different from a native Korean's.

Re: K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)
Thanks, nchristi,.
I know it is a drama, but it still doesn't even seem like good business if all of these media folks know Mr. Han and he has a good rep and they let a sleaze like Seongtae wreak this much havoc! Surely they must know that it could come back to bite them in a big way - especially if Seongtae has a bad reputation - which apparently he does.
His father is a bully in business and Seongtae evidently runs companies into the ground and daddy still lets him , albeit with a slap once in a while!
Someone needed to give that guy a smack upside the head! - Get rid of his yucky mustache, his ill-fitting glasses and punch him in the nose! Whew! I really wanted to say that weeks ago!

Re: K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)
So much has happened on this Drama since these posts/comments have been made, but still wanted to add my comments, too, so please bare with me. (LOL, did I use the right “bare” I get mixed up). class blockquote she wants to stop Shinae & Juho from studying together??Technically they are cousins by marriage. The two could develop feelings for each other. At the time, before the real truth was known to Juho, Auntie would have had to tell her daughter the whole truth of how she and Juho are related. LOL, the easiest way for Auntie was “just say no”. class blockquote Minsu is incapable of ridding himself of greed. Just like his Aunt...I’m glad they both have softened some. class blockquote Jisu and Suin are not related. Sure is confusingThey are as step-sisters. But, yes, it is confusing without a flowchart. LOL! class blockquote So Suin's mom has decided to leave things as they are. I actually think it's the best way also. I mean, JisuMe, too! I thought that was so generous of her not to disrupt Jisu’s life. She was very humble and thanked Dr. Mom for raising her.
I like how the Doctors and S-mom/dad have good marriages. They talk things out. One thing I do like about this drama is that there isn’t a whole lot of hitting and screaming. One thing I don’t like about this drama is the very slow pace and basically only two storylines. I kinda like Auntie, she does bring some humor to this drama. (jmo) class blockquote I'm still not thrilled with how they "allowed" that CRAP of a wife-beater, Suin's ex, to "escape" without ANY punishment..I respectfully disagree. I felt his character arc was handled well.
Regarding the actress who played his mother. She is on the weekend drama, Job Well Done, in a bit part. My, what a difference different makeup and hairstyle makes. She is not as harsh looking as she was on this drama. class blockquote Sumi is really acting out now. Her mom said she never treated her kids differently.. I beg to differ...I agree. class blockquote Sumi.. This girl makes me so mad that I'm trying to figure what her real problem is... I think she has a lot of self worth issuesYes, notice how her she goes back ‘n forth between being part of the family, then “hates” her family. I feel sorry for her. class blockquote Take the dang chairs home with you!!Too funny!! class blockquote I haven't seen S-mom playing favorites between her three kids.Agree, but we don’t really know the “backstory” and how they were treated growing up. Though, I’m sure a lot of what Sumi feels is in her head and not what actually happened. class blockquote I think what this drama in doing is bringing to the front burner what a single mom is all about. If any thing I feel it would discourage unwed pregnancy.Yes, that is the theme I got that the writers are trying to convey. class blockquote Get rid of his yucky mustache, his ill-fitting glassesLOL, that’s what makes his character!
We are a little more than 20 eps from reaching 100. This drama is listed at 100+. Unless they add another storyline, I hope this drama ends soon. I’m ready to move on to the next one.
