K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)
I thought the writers were trying to make Minsu more likeable lately. His speech to H was a shocker, although it fits his earlier attitude. It does seem the main objection to the marriage is not society norms, but just that the two families won`t feel comfortable with each other.

H's mother is so hateful. I'm glad Suin's father heard the way she ripped on his daughter.

K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)
Assorted comments: Suin is a boring character-the down in the mouth, head hanging low whoa is me stance, someone said she looks constipated-TRUE! -Where's the intensity of a forbidden love, the kind of love where you can't wait to be together no what the obstacles are, every hour apart seems to be a week, that look of thank goodness, he's here. The look of longing that I've seen in H. The subtle things a touch or eye contact and a simple smile. As for the clothes she wears. She needs to wear either longer skirts or cover those spindly bow legs. H's mother seems to be typical of many of the mother's in the K dramas. They want to control who their children marry even when they are "long in the tooth" (30). She is particularly nasty, however. It is time for her to give it up and let them be together. Sumi, needs a good smack of reality, she has been ignored in her own family but she is now an adult and needs to move forward from the list of slights she has suffered. Minsu is a moron. He doesn't realize what he has-a beautiful, loving, pleasant, hard working wife. Most guys should be so lucky. He is the last person that should be giving advice to H even if he is the older brother. First he should clean up his own act. At the end of the day, I just want Hiro and Jisu to be together. They seem to be a couple who can grow in their relationship. Hiro would be an excellent teacher for Jisu. She is someone so clueless in a male/female relationship-you just have to wonder why at age 27 she is that clueless.

Now, that I can not get KBS World, I am amazed how much they cut the show shown on chanel 44.
As to H's mother, I don't mind her behavior as much as I mind the lifeless adult couple who have absolutely no chemistry with each. They really should get on with their careers rather than their insipid romance.

Re: K-Drama: 집으로 가는 길 (The Road Home)
I see both Suin and Hyeonsu as rather similar. Do we give Hyeonsu a pass because he's such an attractive K-hunk? The Hyeonsu character is equally as 'boring' as is Suin. But that is exactly how a huge chunk of the population is.
I can't criticize Suin for her behavior or clothing styles. As someone mentioned earlier, she only dresses appropriate to what she is—a married woman. That is what Suin is in her culture and they have defined styles of clothing depending on age group. She was married for five years. She was pregnant and determined to be a serious and good mother to her child. She is a serious, responsible person. This is not a blazing love affair between two very young people. They both went through that already years ago when they were in college before Suin ended up with her abusive husband, a divorce, etc. Their love is different now. It is more mature and less volatile. Both now are showing very strong resolve to go forward together after having tried to do what is "right" by their families' wishes. It takes a lot of guts to go through with what is forbidden by nearly everyone in both families. This is the first K-drama I can recall where someone like Hyeonsu has systematically and calmly gone to each family and announced he is marrying his forbidden love. It looks like Suin is the one who will need strength from him to go up against her family's pressure. class blockquote har1102 wrote:

Looking beyond that point, why is Minsu so inferior feeling that he has to lord it over his younger siblings, wife, and those he sees as weaker or of lesser position? Perhaps it is that his father always put him down and made him feel the fool. So Minsu takes it out on others. I'm sure he's also had his share of bullying and criticism from his dear Auntie and her razor tongue (motivated by sledge hammer brain). Anyways, I hope Miryeong refuses to put up with Minsu's insulting words and behavior towards her. Even though he is presently a 'moron,' there is hope for him after the 'shock therapy' Miryung will be giving him! LOL!

Lol, ADwatcher, I know the men really enjoy Sumi's clothes! I should've said that she dresses like a tramp some of the times. I don't remember seeing Jisu in a mini-skirt or any kind of skirt for that matter. The stretch/tight pants is quite alright cause I'm guilty of wearing those but it's just when skirts are incredibly short, even for minis, that crosses the line for me =).
I give Suin a pass on her dead attitude because she's been through a whole lot and must still be incredibly sad about the miscarriage and having to have dealt with her ex all over again and junk and then now Hyeonsu's mom. I'd start a drinking game for everytime Hyeonsu gives Suin the 'longing' look but I'd be knocked out before each episode ends; he tends to give that look to everyone woman in the show. It's kinda hot, but come on now.

Oh no, if at 93 nothing's barely resolved, that means we're in for another rushed ending of overnight approvals, acceptances, and forgiveness with a loving family photo at the end.

When so many of the comments deal with the clothes the characters wear then we know the show is in trouble
and doesn't really have much quality as to the writing and direction.
